I wanted to be Mrs. Peel when I grew up. When I heard Dame Diana Rigg died, I ugly cried for the next two days. Not just a few tears--ugly cry.

This took my breath away, best couple tv or movie chemistry ever. From the images to the song, you couldn't have done anything better to capture it...BRAVO!

Patrick and Diana's chemistry and love for each other poured out on-screen!! Textbooks could be written about their magical chemistry. UNMATCHED TO THIS DAY STILL!!

Thanks for making this video. I came to watch The Avengers just two years ago, I'm 36 years old and it's one of the best tv shows I've ever seen. Mrs Peel is so stunning, smart, clever and has a natural charm.

It still breaks my heart that they couldn't get together. Steed and Emma loved each other so clearly. They are both gone now, in heaven "for life"

I travelled home to the sixties and recalled again those incredible times in England when she was flying on the crest of the world .

Marvellous, charming, beautiful, graceful. This couple was unbelievable, the chemistry was awesome between these two, Thank you so much for sharing these happy moments which remind me of my youth when I was 18 and living happily in London with my husband. Good memories never fade. Thank you again.

I loved the Avengers as a 9/10 year old in the mid sixties, but I'm seeing things in these clips on You Tube that I never saw then.

As a kid, I thought Steed and Mrs Peel were wonderful. Always thought I'd like to grow up and be as cool as Patrick MacNee. Of course these two didn't scream political stupidity, or curse and swear like modern Hollywood losers. It's such a treat to see them both together, if even for a moment. Thanks !

Their chemistry was undeniable. While all 3 " Avenger girls" were appealing in their own way, Emma was truly ICONIC; never to ever be duplicated by anyone then, now or ever. ( I must admit though, my " fondest" was " Tara King "). Partly because she was a true " underdog", character-wise and also because she BRAVELY and CONFIDENTLY moved forward in Mrs. Peel's shadow......no easy feat!!

I wanted them to get married so bad! I thought they would of made the perfect couple!

I grew up with the image, that all women are like Emma Peel. In Germany there is a newspaper "Emma" by Alice Schwarzer and the synthesis the saying: Kafka was an Optimist.

Come vi ho detto, questa mattina e' sgattaiolata via, prima dell'angolo con l'inghilterra, la rampolla francese grimaldi montecarlo. Non e' passata e si e' tenuta pazientemente il gatto in grembo. Question: Does anyone know the B&W episode here where Stead and Emma kiss? I know they do in the last (Color) episode when she leaves, but I don't remember ever seeing that happen in any earlier B&W episodes. ANYONE?

It wasn't from the b&w series. The clip here is from "Who's who?" from the colour series but shown here in b&w. Of course, in terms of the script, it wasn't Emma and Steed but Lola and Basil.

The characters of Cathy and Emma were similar but different. The character of Mrs. Gale was established as to her behavior and relationship with John Steed. The show had evolved since its beginning and Diana Rigg was part of that evolution. I prefer Cathy Gale too, but that doesn't keep me from recognizing how wonderful Emma Peel was. This was a beautiful tribute to the wonderful chemistry between Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee. It was a great show. Fans can have a favorite but should stop trying to say one partner was better than another, and recognize they were different with different strengths. What is amazing is that each woman (Honor, Diana, Linda) brought out the best in Patrick and demonstrated how he was born to play "John Steed".

@Le Gallinacé What is it that you object to in my comment? Did you mean to reply to Glen Boyle? I said each female partner brought out the best in Patrick. All I suggested was that each woman was different and the show evolved. I suggested looking at each woman's contribution to the show instead of comparing them. Cathy and Emma cannot be compared any more than the John Steed of Diana's last season can be compared to the John Steed of season 1, episode 3.
