I have a theory of why zenkaiger black is collecting the sentai gears: 1. Because he is there mentor and that's his job 2. He is going to give the gears to them but change to how there gears are styled 3. Because he is just collecting the to free the previous super sentais.

This series just violated several unspoken rules of sentai, a pink male ranger, another sentai that can turn into other heros, a continuity between sentais (haven't seen that since denjiman and sun Vulcan), the female being the first one to appear with her transformation and even a dark zenkaiger, this series is nuts, I want more of it!

Sentai not having continuity between each other is actually a new thing that Zenkaiger started. While not being direct sequels to one another Super Sentai has always taken place in the same universe and often reference one another with easter eggs. Heck Ninninger had returning Sentai members show up as teachers and their gramps was best friends with AkaRanger. KirameGreen is sponsored by SRTCH and Miki shows up and fights. Before that they had a running gag about Kyoryu Curry from AbaRanger being a popular hang out spot for sentai alumni. (Miki being called the Curry Queen and Hanto from GoOnger having worked there. with KinRanger from AkaRanger being the person who gave them the recipe and Yellow Owl from Jetman providing produce).

@@PretzTrigger yes and no old sentai actors do reapear in others role usually civilian of the week, alot of stuff btw ss just don't make sense if happen chronologically, and Toei cross overs stuff is always iffy in continuity death character come back some time it different universe crossing sometimes it not.

I feel Sonoi is a Mashin Chaser type, judge, jury and executioner of the monsters. He despises greed, and so takes out monsters formed from it. And he can forcefully create those monsters in order to destroy them

I'm actually curious if he 'Forcefully' created the monster, or if he just sped up the monster being unleashed. We saw Yoppy's monster pop up over a long period of time after he started talking the same way as the Olympic medalist guy. Maybe Sonoi saw the aura of the monster, and just brought it out early.

I really liked the extremely different route their going with this, even though the CGI suits were bad, but that was expected. The CGI zords were really good, and I am hooked as I can be for the next episode.

If it can console you, I'm pretty sure that once the first arc is over they're probably going to spend most of their fight scenes transformed into one of the previous rangers.

I like the cgi virtual reality city, it gives a fresh coat for mecha battles and allows for more possibilities to the fights

@@kaizeremperaiga1807 I believe that this show is a cross between Gridman and John Carpenter’s “They Live,” due to how the sunglasses that the team wears can expose monsters hiding in human society, manipulating events to ruin certain people’s lives, such as OniSister being accused of plagiarism, or InuBrother getting framed for a crime he didn’t commit. (This comment was made after I got more information from episode 2.)

Already loving it more than Zenkaiger. I love the suits and how the girl is the one to be focused on instead of the red. All around, not a bad start to a new Sentai. Though, I am not going to hate on the CGI rangers as everyone else. I really don't care because they still look cool. Can't wait for episode 2 this week.

If you liked the episode or not, Toshiki Inoue knows how to make an interesting first impression.

That platform Don Momotaro appears on is what I believe to be a transport for portable shrines in Shinto festivals. As for Black Zenkaiser, a few things-- the coffee shop is the Colorful Candy Cafe exterior set. When I watched the episode with a friend, we speculated that Black Zenkaiser is either the god from the end of Zenkaiger in Kaito's form, or is possessing an alternate Kaito. Since Onisister got the magic glasses in Black Zenkaiser's coffee shop, we guessed that he is manipuating events for his own reasons, but my newest theory is that he's using the Donbros to collect the Zenkai Gears that the oni in the series have taken (partially based on Google translated Japanese websites). Since it's been announced that Stacey's actor is appearing as a new character, that either lends credence to either this being an alternate world to Zenkaitopia, or he'll be connected to the mysterious godlike figure. As for the mecha fight scene, the first thing that came to mind was Gridman, aka Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad.

Both that platform and the kabuki elements that will surely feature more into series given its hero were in shinkenger as well. So, I expect that if we see their gear here too it will be something special to watch out for...

What I find interesting is that Donbrothers is pretty much just an Alternate version of the Zenkaiger World. As the cafe we saw Onisister get her Sunglasses in, is a version of Colorful. The Store that the Zenkaigers were based in during their season. And that could explain why Zenkaiser Black is a Thing. He's an alternate version of Kaito. And this makes sense as we have seen multiple versions of one character in Zenkaiger.

I do agree Donbrothers debut was bonkers so bonkers it raises lots of questions which I hope we get answers soon enough and it's weird to see rangers in CGI instead of real ones but I will try to get use to it

I think it's a Kaito variant in this DonBro World. He a Kaito that never met the real Kikainoids and so he's a Zenkaiser without his friends.

It's definitely a very unique first Sentai episode. It has a Kamen Rider vibe to it.

It feels way more KR than it does SS, while still being very weird. It's like Ex-AID but with Hide Aruto as the main character and you still don't know anything about the world by the end of the first episode. And Kaito is also there as a Decade/Zi-O like figure.

TBH Onisister is more like a POV character because she didn't know anything at first just like the audience DonMomotaro is still going to be more important because of his origin

I love the aesthetic of the mech battles - reminds me of the early proof of concept videos Mainframe Entertainment made when trying to get ReBoot off the ground, only brighter and more stylised. The CG rangers look a bit jarring, but not overly terrible. The writing is also unconventional, so I look forward to seeing where it takes us.

You know, it almost feels like Don Momotaro is putting on a show. The giant laugh. The showy entrance. Even the mech poses like it's part of a stage show. With the palm in front and the turning of his head?

It’s almost like they have 40+ eps to explain everything ☺️

I love Don Momotaro's laugh. It's like me. Hahahaha! Also, I like the episode. Even though it's confusing, it's the first episode, it's not like they're gonna reveal everything at once. That's just stupid if that were the case.

Sonoi was the character that got my attention the most particularly in what he says about how the people becoming these monsters losing themselves to negative traits like jealously being an affront to world peace in his mind

Also smacking nails on stuff is a curse thing in Japan they usually use that on dolls. Like what magine did in a horror ep.

Toshiki Inoue likes to be... "different" with his writing. To put it nicely. Also I think the whole sunglasses thing seeing humans as monsters is a reference to the film "They Live".

To me what’s super strange is that the actor of DonMomotaro doesn’t have the physic (face) to play a Kinda Prince , show off character who think he’s above everyone. BUT HE GOT THE PERFECT VOICE FOR THAT !! Technically it’s like The voice actor of the Simpsons it would be weird to see them acting like that in real life but their voice are perfect for this

I'm both excited and concerned for DonBrothers at the same time. Other than using another Legacy Gimmick (which will always be my go-to favorite theme), this Sentai broke its own mold just like how Zenkaiger did with the appearance of different avatar/body types, yellow ranger POV, deceptive first warrior debut, and a male pink ranger. Gimmick wise, I like how DonBros built itself up as some sort of a continuation of Zenkai. The Avataro Gears and its Avatar Change are quite a nice touch, seeing how it changes the suit while keeping the buckle intact (just like Decade *chef's kiss*). There's also Zenkaiger Black, whom I look forward to discover his origins, as well as the rest of Robotaro Alters and probably, more gattais like say, Oni Zenkai Oh, Kiji Zenkai Oh, etc? I get how the 1st episode is made with the thought of putting us in OniSister's shoes as to how confusing it was with the elements being presented, but my concern is how those elements would be addressed, presented, explained, and delivered onwards. There's also an issue of OniSister being accused of plagiarizing a manga that seemingly came out of nowhere without any prior explanation of the plagiarized manga's author and how she had no saying in this matter at all, which I would agree if this is all the monster, Anoni's doing. Then again, the last thing we'd ever wanted is for this series to go downhill during the 2nd half and onwards. Even so, it seems like DonBrothers woyld shape itself as one of my favorite Sentais, and I'm looking forward to see if Toei would do a team up of DonBros VS Zenkai VS Gokai next year. XD

This show is basically: Gantz + Momotaro + They Live + VR = Sentai and im here for it.

My 1st take is that we came full circle. For years now Kamen rider has been adding sentai elements and feeling more like it, this premiere to me had most of the elements of a Kamen rider : weird vibes, the cool antagonist, both having different motorcycles, the cute girl, and overall bunch of questions with no explanations. At certain points I could literally pinpoint which KR premiere that reminded me of. As for the world itself and sequel idea, I agree mostly with your second guess as zeikager was all about these different worlds but something with the glasses and AR element of it almost gave me a gobusters vibe.... I Def think it is a sign that this world is not truly as it appears to be, but I wouldn't go as far as your idea because it being just an alternate world created would cheapen the whole thing. If anything, I could see it more as a "real" world in the sense that they know they are a part of a show or being watched and some things allow them to see into ours as we watch into theirs (hence the 4th wall breaking)

I liked how they put more CGI budget into the mecha fights instead of the Kijibrother and Inubrother.

I actually love the episode, of course CGI characters look strange but the Don Zenkaioh Mecha Battle was amazing. This type of laugh that Don Momotaro does at his Matsuri entrance is kind of funny. I haber been hearing a lot of this type of laughs on different stuffs like Anime and videogames and I like they incorporate into Don Momotaro's personality.

This felt more like a Kamen Rider episode than a Super Sentai one

It was pretty good episode so far Donbrothers is definitely an sequel to Zenkaiger and they are 2.0 version of Gokaiger

Late, but the reason Magine’s suit actor makes an appearance is because she’s also Oni Sister’s suit actor. So it might be difficult to have them in the same scene.

Taro goes from 0-100 real quick when he suits up

This show is a big mix of Zenkaiger (Kaito's appearance in the show, using gears to transform), Gokaiger (transforming into previous Sentai rangers), and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid. I say Ex-Aid because of the following: if you look at Donbrothers' kneepads, they look like the directional buttons of a Playstation controller, when they wear the glasses and when they fight, a virtual game-like environment appears and they use it to their advantage (just like in some episodes Ex-Aid). It's giving me video game vibes, but instead of calling it a video game, they use words like "avatar".

It was definitely a crazy start but I’m more invested than I was originally for Zenkaiger when it was first premiering and that theme song is a bop

I swear this is in my top 5 so far even though that top 5 changes every once and awhile. I honestly feel like it hit the mark of feeling like nostalgia like in previous seasons but sets up sooo much. I could say that to Ninninger because I liked it so much before I rewatched it and after re watching it, it was amazing with the story and music also characters though can’t believe the botched it so hard when they were adapting it. Lupat was very nostalgic but on a rewatch it was soo good dispite it’s problems. Sooo I am excited for Don Don Don Brothers

I think the creators of the show might be doing the thing where it shows all the different perspectives of a story. Like the first episode was about yellow’s side of the story and the next episode might be about red’s or pink’s side of the story, because that could explain all confusing stuff happening like pink appearing out of thin air and red just showing up while being paraded around.

My theory that Zenkaizer Black is Just God using the body of a copy of Kaito that he created when he made the Don Brothers world

If Magine doesn’t appear this season I’m going to be extremely sad (Please come back Magine!)

This is the first Super Sentai I'm watching and Im already in love with it!

It definitely god watching over donbrother world cause he did make a promise to kaito to take care the world he created during the zenkaiger finale.

Wish they will make this into a parallel universe just like the MCU and reel in the PR universe, so that one day a SS and PR can have a cross overs.

what i think that the black zenkaiger must be god character of the final episode of zenkaiger because of its behave & talking style is similar to it and could be possible that he helping them.

For the first time I watched the first episode of a sentai series and can not point out how this will turn out (It's always "Bad guys want to conquer Earth, heroes assemble to stop them, yadda yadda yadda"). There is also the lingering Dark Kaito mystery and the "They Live" reference was the icing in the cake. Count me in for watching this one.

Idk but I feel the virtual reality motif in these two series are kinda different….donbrothers in some way the title “ avataro “ which probably addresses much deeper concept of virtual reality

I'm just theorizing this but I think Zenkai Black is Kaito from Zenkaiger all along. The ending of Zenkaiger shows that the team is the first sentai to visit every world, and in their journey they encounter someone, probably the evil trio of the show, and made them lose all their gears from Gokaiger to Zenkaiger(This is based from a leak I recently saw, Avatar gears from gokaiger to zenkaiger). Also, they are now lost in different worlds and Kaito is now living in the Donbrothers world because this is where those evil guys are living or Kaito use the Donbrother gear to summon Donbrother to help him out and take him to his world. That's just my theory and thats why every defeated villain contains one zenkai gear

I chose this was my first super sentai series and it did not help how confusing the episode was. I couldn't even finish it. That's how insane it was for me

The best characters are the half naked men that DonMomotaro apparently just has on retainer to carry him into battle. I genuinely hope they get a focus episode at some point

Knowing that this series will be like zenkaiger i think there is almost 100% chance of them either get a episode dedicated to them or they just appear hanging out int he background randomly

you seem to have forgotten; zenkaiger was a multiverse, with multiverses anything goes.

I suspect each episode, we are going to see how each member gets their powers and then we are going to get a role Call. My main evidence for this is that the Pink guy says "another battle" I wouldn't be surprised if Black zenkizer (spelt it wrong) is the God from Zenkaiger

I love this show so much so far, just from the title you can already tell how much difference they made from previous sentai show, like the Double entendres they used in the title, the avataro also means furious men in Japanese, and font art is clearly fresh

Never seen a super sentai show but I am guessing from what you said that this season does more than just break the mold in a sentai show. It is basically using a different mold entirely or no mold at all.

and this is madness. the whole setup reminds me of MegamanStarforce in a lot of ways, especially the third chapter not a fan of the 2 full-cgi rangers. maybe as a battlemode. I would have preferred the suit to have the component like kyuranger also, I call it BlanKaiser. zenkaiserblack kinda feel like it mines the charather

I like to think that this DonMomotaro is the same one from the Zenkaiger episode and thinks that Zenkaiser Black might be the one from when he met him in Zenkaiger, but just has a new outfit, that’s my personal idea until it’s revealed

I think everything that happened to OniSister was arranged by Bully Kaito ( That is what I call this Kaito ).

One thing Is for sure on my end: the vibes are immaculate, ESPECIALLY the opening.

I really like with your 'different timeline' theory the opening lyric mention "don't cry with the flow of time" and i think that's some kind of hint....

In the story that Donbrothers is based off. Momotaro gave his animal allies dumplings for helping him against The Oni. So maybe the sixth ranger will be based off the dumpling from the story.

It's a combination of the matrix and the play film legend of momotaro.

Your right about the motion blur and the lighting but I think just adding a better drop shadow could go a long way towards making the ranger cg look better.

I think it is safe to say that zenkaiser black is not the same kaito from zenkaiger

this may be give some thoughts or theories in my side, you might be also wondering WHAT & WHY to these theories . . . but this is not the definite theories, it still has some holes in it and i might give another theory after 25 episodes of this series 1st: At the end of last episode of Zenkager, we know Kaito & his friends went to the portal, there must be something happened why Kaito isn't together with his friends & he's giving off a different aura as Zenkaiger Black. 2nd: Jyuran, Gaon, Magine & Vroom "MIGHT BE" fought back to "THAT PERSON" that they encountered and they gave their sentai gears to Kaito which we saw in episode 1 that he use Jyuran's gear.

How are you guys watching these sentai? Is there a stream we can access if not in Japan?

I have a theory about the zenkaiger gears being use in this season. My guess whenever a monster is defeated and zenkaiger black retrieves the gear, perhaps he turns those gears into avatar gears. That's my theory at least

Pink was the leader in time force (us), and with the peach motif is this a play on the peach boy/momotaro fairy tale?

Honestly love all the mystery and ideas they put on the series on just one episode, is like it feels more natural in a way, how Oni Sister reacted to all of this and how at the end she basically didn't even get to know much of anything about her team, there's not a single second your bored or not doing something, all the concepts on this already hyped me up so much then the start of Zenkaiger!, Can't wait to know more about this team and This mysterious Kaito!, I love how he barely talk in the whole episode but at the same time making such an impact to his appearance!!, Can't wait to see this season and now all the answers to this questions!!! 😵🔥🔥🔥

Donbrothers just concluded! it was a great series and ending! Awesome and fantastic! Kaito got reset to masta? The movie with Zenkaigers may explain this.

I honestly got super confused seeing Zenkaiger black and theorized that he was the Kaito we knew but he somehow lost his memory and got separated from his group and our red ranger of this season is helping him recover his memory by collecting the Sentai gears he lost in whatever event separated Kaito from his team. Zenkaiger black summoning Zyruan didn't help either making me believe it was like a copy of Zyruan. Overall I am super curious about Zenkaiger black

I didn't end up watching zenkaiger so I was scared that I loved the looks of donbrothers but wouldn't understand it because of the sequel elements but this episode only made me love donbrothers more so I'm excited to see the rest of the season even if I don't understand some points because of the sequel to zenkaiger stuff

I feel like if they wanted to make the cgi look better, they should just make the enemies cgi too, like with the don zenkaioh fight, as well as the battlefield when they're on screen. Aside from that, this one of my favourite first episodes purely for the prospect of them focusing on onisister rather than donmomotaro

Shirakura promised and delivered, Donbrothers is unlike anything done in Super Sentai. I watched the entire franchise and I can say and right away the concept of the virtual world took me by surprise, now the title Avataro makes sense and we have the story from the Oni Sister's point of view and we feel lost just like her and that's good ,Super Sentai needs to give you reasons to continue the show and now we have these mysteries with a Kamen Rider feeling without ceasing to be Sentai, the Gridman style mecha battles were also great and the result is empty shelves in stores after the first episode . Super Sentai is again interesting and makes the public interested and Shirakura is a man of vision, the best choice for the franchise

The last sentai Zenkaiger was a big respect to past series, they even bring back the legend composer Michiaki Watanabe who made the score for himitsu sentsi to Dai sentai, even the font art is maxed to be looks like a 70s sentsi on purpose, so I am really surprised donbrothers can make this much change suddenly.

for me tarou laughing grow in to me, i really like him when he laugh it's feels like it's going to be alright that he got this. and the character development of his from a robot like persona to a more caring to his team mates and surrounding make me like him more. but the oni sister is what really want me to watch the series because all her shenanigans and monologue and especially her expression and making faces , she's damn well good at it ,

The 1st episode of Donbrothers is really a blast. There not a lot of 1st episode of sentai and even rider that can make me this hype. I love all the wackiness that happened. My first impression is this is Sentai meet Gridman, with all the ”digital world" thing. For OniSister, i don't really like her, for now at least. She came like a cocky character to me. She do all this transformation, battle and searching of Momoi just for her own sake, just to take back her glory. For DonMomotaro, i love how he is a kind and passionate person out of suit and when he transformed, that aspect is turn up to eleven, making him into that bombastic and loud guy. For the battle scene, it's unique that we got the first full transformation by KijiBrother, not the usual leader. It's funny that his body is stretch out, different with Kibaranger and Justin the Blue Turbo Ranger that they grow into adult. Can't wait for InuBrother transformation. The CGI.. it's Toei standard CGI. Not the best, but also not so bad either. I think the problem with Toei CGI is the lighting. They already have a great texture but the lighting sometimes kinda mixed. When it's good, like with DonZenkaioh and the monster, they are really" good and when it's bad, like with Kiji and Inu, we can really noticed it. Well, overall for 1st episode, i like it

I feel like Donbrothers takes inspiration to an anime/game called persona4(golden), that and the digital environment stuff might be inspired from the new digimon reboot
