Nishizawa Valley is located in the northern part of Yamanashi Prefecture. It is a V-shaped valley with a series of beautiful waterfalls and deep pools, and has been selected as a "Forest Therapy Base," "Top 100 Japanese Natural Areas to Leave Behind in the 21st Century," "Top 100 Famous Waterfalls in the Heisei Era," "Top 100 Forests for Forest Bathing," "Top 100 Water Source Forests," "Top 100 New Japan Tourist Attractions," and "Top 100 Unexplored Regions in Japan," among others. It is one of the most representative scenic spots in Yamanashi Prefecture.
The highlight is the Nanatsugama 5-step waterfall located at the farthest point of the mountain stream walking trail, which itself has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan.
The time of fresh greenery and autumnal leaves is especially recommended, and the usual season for autumn leaves is mid-October to early November. You can see a part of the waterfall from the old trolley road on the way back to the mountain, so it is a spot where you can trekking while enjoying nature to the fullest, and it is a valley where you can experience the blessings of forest and water.
