The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC): What Is It and Why Is It So Important?
Ғылым және технология
The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, or AMOC, is a key climate system and is vital in regulating the temperature of the planet. However, in recent years there have been many studies suggesting that its potential slowdown, or even collapse, could have a catastrophic effect on our climate and could lead to more extreme weather.
In our latest animation, we give you a lowdown on what the AMOC is, how it works, what could happen if it does slow down and what NOC is doing to research it.

The animation guy deserves a raise
Great animation but could you turn the music off. I prefer to listen to you, not some background ear cockroach. Thanks if you could only capture a few of those petawatts it would help the energy crisis.
this is really well done
Very good, but turn off the music/rythm box.
At 0:21 the lines seem to show flow from west to east. I thought with the earth's rotation shouldn't the flow move east to west in line with our planets rotation?
