The Art of Sampling | Looping, Flipping & Interpolation

Музыка

There has been much debate on what flipping a sample actual is. In this video, I'll be providing you with my perspective on the difference between using a sample loop, flipping a sample and interpolating a sample. Feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

    I assumed flipping a beat is like flipping a car. Taking something that exists, changing it, then putting it back out on the market. 😆

    Incredible video, brethren 🙏🏼✊🏼💯 As 4 the form of sampling love 2 use, it's either chop & flip it into somethin' completely different or interpolation. I like the latter, 'cause of the ability of bein' able 2 learn the chords, & possibly flip it by re-voicing them or something of that effect. My main thing either way is 2 set the tone where the lyrics that accompany can resonate that much more.

    “Flipping A Sample” is basically what you said, “Flipping it on its head” or just flipping it around. Basically taking it apart & reconstructing it into a new arrangement using only the elements of the sample itself.

    The second part of "90210" by travis scott was a sample from the track "itinerario romantico" by Rigol, but funny enough, in "bigger thën everything" by Yeat, BNYX interpolated the same track travis scott used in 90210...itinerario romantico basically gave us two crazy good songs lmao

    Quick question, if I sing a melody but change the lyircs. Like let's say singing "don't go chasing waterfalls..." but change waterfalls and some of the other lyrics. I'd that still interpolation?

  • @DaBlackMicTV

    @DaBlackMicTV

    The usage of the melody would be considered the top-line vs the usage of the music (in variants using chord progressions, sounds, key etc) would be more-so considered an interpolation

    So let’s get this straight, say I took this song from a video game and I did a replay/interpolation of it from memory. No sampling but it sounds very similar (the midi). Then I make a beat out of it (the beat melody SOUNDS are different than the original song sounds anyway). Would that song get copyrighted in anyway if the beat has the same melody, but it wasn’t sampled?

  • @DaBlackMicTV

    @DaBlackMicTV

    3 күн бұрын

    Technically it’s still an interpolation if the progression and melody are exactly the same. But if u deviate from the original composition “enough” (how much idk) it may not be noticed but the more blatant (same sound same tempo same melody line) the more likely it would be to be discovered.

  • @Breezyfl0w_official

    @Breezyfl0w_official

    @@DaBlackMicTV yeah so if you could imagine it’s basically just a lead that’s the same (if you could imagine just some synth lead). It’s only in the outro but the chords underneath it are made from scratch (so they aren’t exactly the same). But the tempo is different , sounds are very different, it’s just that one melody line. I’d assume I sound to be in the clear?

I wonder how we sounded in Babylonian days when mankind spoke the same tongue?? Music must had been incredible. Like the tower of Bable was stopped only after mankind had become confused. I think its said that mens tongues became twisted and they no longer could communicate! That sounds like some illustrations of the past. No matter how inlightened the Egyptian and African countries and Indian continents pre historical civilizations were far beyond what we understand now yet idk if i would rather go back in time and enjoy the salt of the earth. The air and all the tastes and smells and wildlife I am glad that we have these technologies im not Matieralistic but these smart phones and all the analog devices before it have enhanced our way of expression.
