The art of Murano glass
Glassmaking techniques were once a state secret in Venice where, on the island of Murano, generations of glass makers have concocted exquisite works of art from a molten sand mixture. Today, the process may be common knowledge, but the craftsmanship and know-how of this Mecca of glass sets Murano an island apart. Seth Doane reports.

We went to Venice in April, 2019. We made a trip out to Murano to see all the beautiful glass and we of course brought some home with us. It is an amazing place to see. Don't miss their glass museum, a must see!!!

I own a few pieces of Murano glass jewelry, some antique. Wonderful stuff!
We have had the pleasure of being here to watch the glass blowing and this store! We own small pieces, bc they are so expensive.
👍I was there years ago...it’s truly something amazing to see. I have a couple of items and I treasure them.💝
I toured a glass factory in Morano in 2017 and it was a religious experience!!! n
So many beautiful things to look at. Some day I would love to own a piece!
Glass is much more than a collection of elements it is magic . it is time frozen in place .

Younger people are learning they're just making glass pipes many are works of art just as much.

3000 degrees? Hardly. 2300 at most. Big difference.

did you listen??? he said ‘around 3000 degrees. i’m guessing he wasn’t allowed to state exact temperature, not exact components, or exact procedures - probably for trademark secrets and such, but i’m only 25 seconds into this video.

@@cathycasuccio3227 I've blown glass for 25 years, never have I encountered anything beyond 2400F...Glassmakers in Murano commonly melt longer working glass (aka, softer lower temp melting due to addition s of lead oxide)
Those contemporary pieces are trash! I like the traditional pieces with their elegance and class.

So, if someone only appreciates contemporary, are your choices 'trash'? No need to be rude. There are many forms of art and wonderful to celebrate variety.
Great Video! (Jesimiel Millar Fernåndez) 1M1K67
