Becky, you’re amazing. Thanks for all your help and your book. I just mixed up another big barrel of chicken food. My 10 chickens love it. I finally found the oats in the horse area of TSC. No judging. 😆 I’m getting double yolks and my family sent me pictures when they got their first dozen eggs. I can’t tell you enough what a blessing my girls have been to me. They love me and follow me everywhere. I was thrilled when l got my first 10 eggs. By the way you look great! Have a blessed day.

Perfect!!! I noticed the bullying at the food bowl also, and their social order is for 1 dominant chicken having 2 or 3 feeding stations makes it harder for the “guard” to be mean… GREAT TIP!!! Wonderful as always 👍

@@BeckysHomestead I think I’ve watched all of your videos but I don’t remember seeing one that fits the “sweetie/feisty” category so if u have one please share the title or make a video titled “sweet & salty”! I have 13 chickens & bought the ones you suggested. I’ve learned a lot about chicken behavior & it can be heartbreaking to see your sweet chickens being bullied by a chicken that u love the most lol! My favorite is the smallest of the bunch & she has 2 or 3 chickens that she’s mean to & it hurts me to have to poke or scold her lol bc I love her so much! But it’s true, they can be little tyrants & guard the food & water :( Thank you for another great video!

Hey Becky! So happy to see things progressing on your new homestead. That is so awesome! I was wondering if you could do a video all about Neil and what kind of pig he is, how big was he when you got him, what you feed him, the care involved, whether he would do well with other pigs of his kind, and if his breed can be used to clear areas like the area off the horse pasture that you showed and said, needed to be cleared. I know that there are homesteaders that are using pigs to clear thick areas of brush and weeds etc, in their wooded areas, to create silvopasture. Anyway, thank you so much for always sharing your wonderful best life with us! It is an inspiration! ♥️
First timers here in SC. Before we got our first "chickie babies" we read read read all you were saying about chickens. Now 9 months later our "chickie babies" have laid steadily thru winter. We have 12 and get 9-11 eggs daily. Thank you. (And it's so fun)

Build your coop first! Then get a few chickens. Not to many because trust me there is a line you cross that makes it a money pit because for chickens to lay well you have to spend quite a bit on chicken food. ☀️❤️☀️
Hello back 'beautiful Becky'! SUCH a practical demo vid of 'paradise' coop. U can C that the chickens are without stress and loving all the options U have given them from this layout = perfect! Don't U luv having all the 'good' input to your channel that keeps you 'tweeking' in a better, better, best direction? I would only suggest one thing for your lovely home...shutters. The REAL kind that U can close from the outside when a storm comes through. It becomes one less major thing U have 2 worry about if (God forbid) a nasty comes ripping through. Knowing U...it would make your home more practical and pop, pop, POP! Thanks 4 sharing your time/talents with us...health and God Bless! :)

Your information is so helpful....I do have a small delimma. One of my hens lays an egg every morning before daylight it seems. She originally layed it in a nesting box, now it seems she is too lazy to go to the box and just lays the egg where she is roosting. It really isn't a huge thing to me, but should I do something about it? Thanks

Becky, I know this might be off subject but I just wanted and loved your Homemade liquid laundry detergent recipe video you made about 7 yrs ago and was wondering if you still use the laundry soap u made. Or if u have switched it up with something else, if u have any kind of excess detergent film on your clothes over the years. I had watched a couple of vids on social media saying in time homemade laundry detergent makes film on clothes and destroyed them or have to strip them using store bought soap. But it could be ppl saying this without trying it to get ppl from making there own. What's your thought or suggestions please.

Hi, I'm new to your channel & I was wondering if you could answer a question... I am also new to chicken raising, but I was planning on closing up the nest boxes at night to keep them from pooping in them and open them up during the day. Is that problematic in the winter time?
@BeckysHomestead
Жыл бұрын
Your chickens should not even want to sleep in the nest box. Either your coop is over crowded, the number one mistake people make. Or your roost is not long enough, or something is stalking them at night and they get in the box to feel safe. You have to spend some time and figure it out and fix it. ☀️❤️☀️

@@BeckysHomestead Just so you are up to speed, I saw where an old farmer used to do that (close up the nesting boxes) so I thought it might be a good idea. My chickens are only 2 months old and not laying yet. And I haven't even put the nesting boxes in yet. However, while I have you on speed dial, I bought 25 chicks from a farmer and about half are hens and half roosters. Should I separate them at any point? I am not planning on keeping more than 1 rooster, so the rest will be for meat once they are old enough.
I have a hen (which one I have no idea) who is laying what has been determined as a lash egg. What can I do to my hens to stop this? HELP PLEASE
