@@fans-of-the-goat-uk he hasn't confirmed Strongest Man on Earth. He's waiting until after the Arnold's UK to see how he's feeling. However, looking at the lineup for UK, I think Hafthor has an excellent shot at the podium. I think that will leave him hungry for SMoE. That was my mens' podium pick too. Thor is not at full strength yet and Mitch is still improving - he's way better than he was at WSM - even someone like Thor needs to be back near his best to beat Mitch's current form, especially the consistency.

@@MisterBoy316 yeah Mich is getting pretty close to having a good argument for the Strongest to have ever lived. It's still probably 2018 Hafthor but he's getting close. Worth noting Hafthor smashed his timber carry PB, so in some ways he's better. I'm not sure Hafthor would have done as well on those Dinny replicas in 2018 either.
Can't wait for this, I'll be in the front row cheering for Gav.

@@Typhus-th6ud I don't think it's "tennis elbow" I fucked up something in my arm in the same location he kept feeling around in.....and it's weird. (I did it via shoveling snow.....and having to constantly knock the snow off of the shovel as it was so damn sticky.) It might be that.........all I know is that my right arm is only recently coming back after three years. It's hard to even define where the pain is. Usually you can tell, this. I honestly still don't know. It's in the arm, near the elbow but it is affected by angle of the wrist is so many weird ways. Nothing involving grip or lift from grip. It was interesting hearing Kearney talk about Thor’s performance on the broadcast. He was saying that when you take time off from a strength sport like Strongman one of that last things to come back into form is your pressing power. He was saying something about the way muscle is built upon on the human frame tends to favor some parts of the body and the opposite for others - like your shoulders.
@TimCaruana

Yeah, good analysis from Rob. I also think that shoulder strength slowly goes as you age into your late 40s and 50s, even when you train regularly.

In my opinion when giants live did the strongman at the UK's arnolds it was a lot better than what they do now. I mean it's 7 people competing maybe less if anyone gets injured. I guess their problem is fitting it in. Already Luke S pulled out to focus on Europe's and Tom said he wanted to focus on WSM and I assume some others didn't do it that might have for those reasons. It would be even closer to them if they held it back.

I got told off for this in some predictions I made for a show about a year ago As a community we really need to get over the stigma around referencing a woman’s weight in a sport where height, muscularity and scale weight all play a legitimate role in performance. Note: most competitions have a “Heavyweight” or SHW men’s class and an “Open” female class

I think Lucas Hatton can take 2nd. However Thor’s conditioning has clearly improved significantly. I don’t see him taking any lower than 3rd. I think Hooper’s an obvious victor. I’m more than willing to bet Hatton will get all 3 dumbbells
I much prefer these events to the US Arnolds, even if the medely is a bit bizarre. Hard to see anyone except Thor or Hooper winning it, and my money would probably go on Hooper

If Thor can keep it close in the first 3, obviously these last 2 events will go better than Ohio. I just think Hooper will have a massive lead after the first 3.
I really respect Mitch for competing so often and giving his all at every show. Much prefer that to the Stoltman style.
@dango9786
Ай бұрын
Bit harsh. Mitch is a freak of nature, not everyone can compete so often. Those who have done, like Oleksii, are currently paying the price. Only time will tell if Hooper can keep that up, he's not yet 2 years into a pro career. It was 2 years ago now that the Stoltman's accepted invites but weren't committed. They were heavily criticized for it, recognised that, and have remedied it by only attending shows that they will give their all for. Not really fair to continue criticizing. Not to mention Luke will be 40 this year.
@MisterBoy316
Ай бұрын
It's a shame they have both pulled out somewhat late but it does make sense. Mitch doesn't have ESM and Luke does, Tom clearly is putting it all into WSM. It's sad not to have either of them for sure though.
@petershortland478
Ай бұрын
Difference is Mitch is able to recover quickly. Some can't. Tom has worries about his hip and bicep, so he is rehabing those. Mitch loves to compete. Unfortunately, Oleksii right now feels he needs to compete, especially for his country. Mateauz is another that needed to skip this show for me also should have skipped the Arnold's all together so he can be fully fit for ESM since that show will have similar events to WSM he should put his time on those shows since deadlift is a massive weakness and also can he last week of doing events/rest/events
Pet theory, all of the boxing and boxing drills have improved Thor’s foot speed and foot work. You also use you grip way more in boxing then you would expect because you clench you fist as you hit stuff. I think Thor’s farmers, yoke and other similar events will be stronger then ever.
Thanks for the great info as always! How is Liz's training going? I assume she's wearing that baggy jumper (which also looks great - excellent colours) because Loz is now getting worried he'll be outshined? 😀
Rooting for Ms. Thompson and Canada's favorite Strongman Mitch Hooper. Saw Hooper training for the throw for height that Hafthor currently hold record.
Are you allowed to mix logs as in do 1 with heavier and then second with lighter?
Is it just me or do the Arnold shows just love having multiple OHP, and multiple walk events (yoke/frame/farmer's/dinnies)? I would have liked to see more variety. No loading events in either show, no pulling/pushing events (vehicle pull/wheel of pain), many other types of events not there, yet 4 different OHP events and 4 different walks.
love u2
Thanks! Excited to see Gav going for it, hopefully a podium?! And Lucy to go one better this time!

I will be surprised if he gets a podium finish this year against the group of young studs there are now. Hoop, Big Stoltman, Evan Singleton, Mateus etc. The field is so deep now it will not be easy for Thor. You can easily name ten young guys who have won multiple shows. Evan deserves more credit for all the shows he has won, Just another young buck who is good at everything,

Anyone know whats going on with Evan Singleton? Haven't heard anything since the Arnold. Just curious. I love watching him with his aggression. Very entertaining to watch in my opinion
Only 8 men? 😢 Thanks for the coverage as always.
I feel like this could be a great show. My initial instinct was that Mitch would run away with it, but Thor could win 3 of the events, and if Bobby and Max show up in decent shape, they could steal some points off of Mitch in some of the events, plus Rauno can buffer Thor on the deadlift. I’m gonna say Thor to take the underdog win in this one!

Disappointing about the stream. I'm guessing from the raw nature of it that it wont be possible to watch after the fact. I'm in Australia so 8 hours in front of UK time (outside of daylight saving) so can't watch live. Arnolds Ohio was the first event I managed to watch and I was hoping to follow it up with UK.
Mitch is like how we thought prime mateusz would dominate if he got his deadlift up
Hooper will win again but i think it will be much closer than Arnolds USA, his in such good form hard to see anyone beating him right now.
If Thor is close after day one, he is set up good for day two and the overall win with winning the last two events
It's going to be hard to beat Hooper, he is really consistent, and methodical.
I see another win for Mitch here. I think Thor will be closer to him than at the US Arnold’s but will probably still lose points on the log and probably dumbbell. As long as Mitch doesn’t lose to many points on the throw to Thor he’s got it in the bag I’m going 1 - Mitch 2 - Thor 3 - Bobby or gav
If Hoop avoids injury he might match the best ever in a short period of time, . There are so many great young bucks now it will be very difficult for Thor to make podiums this year. Look at these guys. So multi talented and there are so many guys who have won multiple major strongmen shows. Hoop and Evan Singleton are two of the most multi talented guys right now imo. Evan has won his share as well. He can do everything like Hooper can. Arnold events didn't go well for him though. He could have beat Thor in deadlift though.
