God ,the power of simple MIDI and demo communications is so evident here. A great tool for a legendary band.

Dan Greene style

i only recently started getting into these guys but the lengths they go to for secrecy is fascinating. from what i can gather tony wolski (the guy on the right in this video) is the only consistent member and probably the principle song writer and vocalist (and sometimes drummer). he runs a video production company (Former Co) with Trevor Naud (the guy who plays Dan Greene, also plays in Zoos of Berlin) and they do all the videos for the armed as well as recent Converge, Metz, Protomartyr videos. That company also does advertisement for big companies such as Ford so they are most likely doing well financially which explains a lot of the lavash things they do to promote The Armed. They are obviously very tight with Kurt Ballou. Also Tony does vocals on the new Genghis Tron album (also recorded with Kurt) and that album is awesome. This dude has somehow been involved in two of my favorite albums of 2021.

They were much less anonymous at this point, that didn't really kick in until Untitled. I'm pretty sure Randall (the other guy) is still there too, they were originally the main songwriters, but Idk if that's still the case or not. Tony was originally the drummer, and not a vocalist at all, and he was drumming for the Untitled tour, in the EU at least. The original members were Aaron Jones, Randall Kupfer, Kenny Szymanski and Tony Wolski Trevor Naud is also in Dan Greene and the Greenies, although I don't know if they're still a thing, and the early Armed themselves are also Nice Hooves, just with an extra member, Dave Graw, who does vocals. They're also great, but much more straight forward hardcore, and they haven't released anything in a long time now. If you haven't heard it yet, their first album with the original lineup, These Are Lights, is here kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaOGxJltm9bFZrQ.html&ab_channel=lpcrush Not sure why they took it down from everything, but it's well worth a listen. It's from 2009 iirc, so it's a nice starting point to check out their development from. Genghis Tron's great, I must give the new one a listen

@@pietzsche In this video it says they didn't even have the band together when they recorded the parts to this album so I was thinking he potentially did the vocals then just had another vocalist do them live when they formed the band, but maybe they just had the music recorded and they did the vocals shortly after forming the band. either way great stuff, i'll check out the other things you mentioned. i've got tickets to the sold out ULTRAPOP release show in NYC next month and I'm super stoked for it.

@@alexmiller6393 I think they just mean they weren't physically together when they say that, this wasn't their first release, so the band was definitely formed at this point, but it's hard to pin down exactly what's going on, even before they went for the real mysterious vibe. Enjoy the stuff there's some great tunes in there, Nice Hooves have some real bangers, and These Are Lights is a bit more straightforward than the later stuff, but it's still quality Enjoy the show mate, they're wild live, get ready for literal swinging from the ceilings!

How they can afford to get A class drummers to record with them is beyond me...

They've been recording with Kurt Ballou a long time, and all the drummers they've worked with are from that scene, so I think it's partially that, and partially that they're so good. They'd a lot of stuff out before they started using outside drummers.

Who is the guy on the left with Tony?

Original guitarist, I forget if he was ever named, and Idk if he's still there, you can see him in the video for Liar, he and Tony did all the early PR, what there was of it. Edit, it was Randall something or other

@@pietzsche Is he the same guy who is playing guitar in the live videos from the Only Love shows in Europe and at No Rest Fest 2018? Definitely a different Randall than Randall Kupfer.

@@DealerTags idk, he was with them up until untitled for sure, but after that idk, and it's hard to tell after they did the bodybuilding thing. I'll see if I can find the stuff with his name but it's been a while

@@DealerTags Yeah he was definitely on Untitled, but I haven't been able to recognise him in anything since then. Also it might be Randall Kupfer, because that's a fake name lol :P
