When I tell you Jazmine Sullivan put her FOOT, SOUL, HEART, WHOLE ANCESTRY LINE into that vocal performance. She is the truth. She has ALL the range. The way that woman can manipulate her voice, and can exert so much soul and execute those fast intricate runs. PHENOMENAL!

The lady after Jazmine Sullivan is Ledisi. You should know Ledisi :) She can sang. Ledisi is also quite well known. The Lady before Yolanda Adams (The Lady with the Braids) is Stephanie Mills and she is also legendary too, she is known for singing Home from The Wiz.

Our culture is so rich. I was so excited to see them all for this was a top notch tribute befitting of a Queen. RIP Aretha.

No hate to Jazmine, her runs are LEGENDARY. But, was I the only one who thought that there was just a smidge too many runs within the note? Aretha songs after all thrived in long, sustained belts.

@@voicije I don't need to calm myself because I'm not upset. I was referring to how he sounded as if he dosen't know who she is. It was a suggestion to look her up so he can either refamiliar himself with her or learn more about her because she is a great gift and he would probably want to react to her music and the tributes she has done for other people. I don't why you felt the need to respond to me as if Im wrong for what I said. He dosen't need a (Internet) body guard to defend him because no one is coming for him, literally, or malisciously. He said nothing wrong or disrespectful bout Ledisi. So again, I have no reason to get upset, which again gives me no reason to calm down!

Fun Fact For The One's That Don't Know In The Original "Ain't No Way" With Aretha Franklin Cissy Houston (Whitney Houston's Mother) Hits The High Operatic Head Notes In The Background.

Truly one of the best tributes for Aretha Franklin outside of her home going service.

I'm such a Jazmine Sullivan fan , but I was also so proud of and anticipating Ledisi. Ledisi had great breath control and resonance.

@Reggie Robinson You mean Cynthia? I strongly disagree lol. The audiences reactions to both performances says it all. I like Cynthia's performance though, she can definitely sing, but if you want soul from Ledisi, just check out any of her performances of the song "Precious Lord". The year that Beyoncé performed that song at the Grammy's, it was actually suppose to be Ledisi singing. Now that's a more accurate comparison.

@Reggie Robinson but why are you comparing Ledisi to Aretha and Patti like it's a contest between them? They're in completely different leagues(in reference to both Aretha and Patti in their primes that is). Would you say the same for Jasmine or Stephanie? To me, Cynthia sounds way more "technical" than Ledisi does and soul is soul. If Cynthia is more soulful in your opinion, then by your logic, SHE, should've gotten the more explosive response. Anyways, I respectfully disagree.

@@thabigcohuna I'm sure you probably seen the clip of when her backing audio track screwed up, and she told the sound person to cut it, and her and the background singers did the song acapella. And I realize Mariah's situation was different, she couldn't hear her track.

I think it's actually amazing just how influential and respected Aretha was. Some superb tributes have been paid before and since her death. And rightly so! I've never seen so many young performers willing to honor and pay tribute to another artist. I thought I was the only one who appreciated and loved Aretha's voice. How wrong I was.
