Prevents the person afflicted from healing with the Estus flask, it's there to prevent chuggers from chugging. (It's generally looked down upon to heal mid-match in PvP)

+Steven Schmitz you can. its just not priority. if you invade enough in the same area you'll have a lot of the 2+phantom hosts on cooldown, so you'll see more 1v1 and 2v1 action

Steven Schmitz i never have phantoms summoned unless im at a boss gate and sick of the bosses shit, and i get invaded often im level 69, and at the post pontiff area, just today, i was invaded 5 times. And literally every one of those invasions was double. A red and an aldritch. And alrditch and another aldritch. And all but 4 of those invasions were 1 on one because they waited their turn so, experiences vary

I've never been able to be summoned as a Darkmoon. Ever. Not once.

To be fair, they get rewarded for killing Darkmoons, so they do have a reason to kill specifically you.

The covenants are so fucked up in this. You have 2 of the same, and 2 area based ones that are instantly nullified once someone completes that area. And no PvE covs either.

+Squibo The Furry The Mound Makers are the only good covenant in the game, but if they wanted it to be perfect, then you should still be able to aid the host while invading with a Red Eye Orb, and you should be able to help them fight the boss for a double Vertebra Shackle or something. That'd help it become more of a wild card covenant, since the host might be willing to cooperate, but will have to constantly look over their shoulder to make sure the mad phantom doesn't just decide to kick them off an elevator for the smaller, easier reward. As it stands, the only way for them to get rewards is by killing other players, so they're essentially just like any other invader.

+Jorick12 It kinda is, barely any souls at all and if you die you have to go to the spot in your world where your phantom died in theirs and if you die along the way boom, any potential gain you've made is now gone. If you want to PvP in any shape or form then the sign is the only way to really go, otherwise it's just a gankfest stressfest.

Robert Zabulonian I wouldn't say that necessarily, the PvE in both Dark souls 3 and Bloodborne have both felt great. I'm all for hosting fight clubs and more social centered PvP experiences but so far the invasion system has been rendered so neutered and one-sided towards the host it's not even funny anymore. I miss the days when the worst advantage a host had over a invader was just being able to drink his estus flask while the invader had to heal with humanity.

BUT i still enjoy it A LOT. i hope some things are patched in (especially QoL stuff from ds2) but I have more fun with it than the pve, personally

They were probably trying to kill him because Rosaria's Fingers get double covenant points if they kill a blue. I generally consider blues higher priority than the host for that reason.

If you use the red stone the person who summons you is very much ready to fight. If you want easy wins and covenant awards you invade and maul them to death while they fight enemies. Or if you're a strength build, just plunge attack them. Invasion is just a free ticket to fight like a prick, though honestly nothing is holding you back from doing the same with red stones.

You gotta invade in places where PvP isn't completely overpopulated. while 80% of my invasions in lower anor londo resulted in ganks, only about 40% of invasions in the untended graves had phantoms. Also to win at ganks, use the BKGA. It deals between 600 to 900 damage depending on the hit and the r1 can almost always get the 2 hit combo, which is more than enough to kill phantoms below SL 90, and some above. I've even used the warcry r2 charge attack to kill careless hosts in 1 hit before the phantom knows what's happening.

Afro, thanks for uploading this. It honestly makes me feel better. There's so. much. god damn. ganking. So much. I want to get the dark moon blade buff, but between never being summoned, and only being summoned to ganks, Im pretty disheartened by it. It'd be so much better if darkmoons were only summoned to help characters who are in a pinch, or outnumbered. So for instance, if the host is alone and low on estus, or surrounded. More of a panic mechanic than a guaranteed gank group. Like a last ditch effort in a pinch. And then getting summoned to help hosts get to the boss fog is another fear after waiting so long, to not even get the reward (Im assuming) But yeah, all of my red invasions have been pretty tough with all the ganking giant tree seeding.

I understand you think they're being idiots but honestly I'd do the same, if not worse. Every single time I invade and find a supposedly friendly white/gold/blue, they eventually stab me in the back (figuratively and/or literally) while I'm fighting the host. I don't blame those invaders for not buying it, I'd actually blame them for not trying to kill you when they had the chance. When I get summoned to co-op and somebody invades, I ALWAYS let them fight 1 v 1, but so far, I have NEVER met someone doing the same when I'm invading. I know they're out there, but it is absolutely impossible to know for sure, and 99.9999% of the time they're trying to ambush you, which is so much worse than "openly" ganking.

You should have just followed suite after the red in the start of the video and used separation crystal to go home. Especially if you don't intend to help the host, cause no one invading is going to trust you at all.

I've been doing the opposite as a mound maker. I have been invading a bunch of people in the Boreal Valley and dropping Prism stones everywhere and have been actively avoiding PvP to screw with them. If they pop a seed of the Giants, I help them out. If they attack me I let off a bunch of WoGs and go to town on one with a lightning blade.

Like everyone else I'm wondering how the f*ck did he get summoned as a darkmoon. I'm over 90 hours and still waiting to be summoned once

You earn rewards better with goofing around, I better start doing that too

it's similar to me actually invading as a red, gave host a seed and started going through the area with them. fun times

+Z. Lemniscate That might be your problem. You seem to be summoned more easily to the area you're in so since every darkmoon is in Anor Londo farming you're never going to get summoned. I had the covenant on while farming vertebra shackles and was being summoned pretty regularly (I assume mad dark spirits are invading while doing the same thing).

you should honestly just gank if you get invaded as a darkmoon. it takes so long to actually get an invade that if you actually want to get the ring and miracle achievement or just want the items it will take you days. silver Knight farming doesn't help either, the drop rate is so low it takes over 20 minutes at least to get a single one. I swear, I'll never understand why from soft does this, making it covenant items that require people to put on a covenant to be summoned is bad enough but making the offline farm infuriatingly tedious is just a spit in the face. I know it's supposed to be a challenge but when a challenge is based around RNG it becomes boring. tldr fuck the way of the blue mechanic people never use it and fuck silver Knight farming

Commander Spyke all the better for me! i like honor duels, which is why i use a summon sign rather than the orb. People always summon and then a blue comes in to gank smh

All those happy people, happily talking about invasions by aldrich/darkmoon/blue sentinels/ watchdogs and i, after entire days and continuous hours of waiting, still couldn't manage to be summoned once in any of those. Oh, no, silly me, i was! I was summoned only once in the darkmoon covenant only after about 2 hours that i've been waiting spam killing the silver knights at anor londo, and in that one i was sent back home the very moment i arrived cause the dude died as soon as i was summoned. Aaaand after that nothing else. Not bad, really! Seriously tho, from software has to do something for this damn thing. It's just annoying that some people are able to be summoned so often without any effort, while the 90% of the remaining players just can't get 1. And don't come tell me to farm those items by killing silver knights/whatever is needed for the others, cause in over 2 hours i got only 2 concords by the silver knights.

+SigmaYX some people have no issue being summoned, whereas others rarely ever do. at the moment, nobody knows what it is (router settings? a bug? no available slots at their level?)

+SigmaYX I'm on NG+4 now. I was in the darkmoon covenant for the entirety of my second and third (SL 80 - 100) playthroughs... and I've only been summoned once.
