they really created one of the most tortured characters possible because they took a regular dude and turned him into various inanimate objects including food that got eaten and had him experience unending helplessness and likely great amounts of pain just within reach of some kids just having fun, as if to heighten his pain by comparing it to their happiness

Every once in a while I see something I'm partly convinced was made up on the spot to fuck with me specifically, and right now I'm genuinely astounded to see this isn't one of those times and is, in fact, a real thing that real people collectively got together and decided needed to be a real thing. "The Anime Where..." is one of the few series that makes me excited everytime I see a new one. "A gentle G-rated queer-bation" is not even the most amazing line.

I would unironically like a show about a dude reincarnating as some inanimate object that can communicate, or just any kind of weird guy that, instead of creeping on teenage girls, is actually trying to help them with their personal problems. Boosts their confidence, helps them foster relationships, provides emotional support... Bonus points if he remains as Just A Dude with little motive beyond just "I wanna see these young women live their best lives!".

Honestly? I'm fuckin with this new style. It feels like Expoint has finally blossomed from someone who thinks he's right and will argue, even if in a funny manner, why with logic and fax (tm) into someone who knows he's right and has fun with it. Genuinely my favorite video of his yet.

4:52 chickens are in fact cannibals. they can also pick all the meat off a mouse really quick if they have mice available. the cannibalism is mostly when they are stressed.

When I heard the description, I thought this was going to be horror. Now, I am aware that this is horror. I am ever so slightly afraid of my surroundings, even knowing I am not in an isekai anime.

About 30 seconds in I realized this was going to be another "this anime is super fucking weird, here's a recap". I very much enjoyed the last one with the moomin but I didn't exactly have time so I watched this at 2x speed. It was an absolute amazing fever dream experience and I loved it. Great video

When I think anime could not get any crazier, the echoes of the prophecy that just escaped my lips are once again, proven terribly, terribly wrong.

The puppy episode felt like a completely different anime. Giving the Man a face changes everything.

I thought this was gonna be about a mimic (the kind that can willingly turn itself into an object and then back into a human form whenever it wants to) stalking a bunch of women (as in, 18+) and the women are aware of their predicament but have no way of knowing which object the mimic is so they have to go into detective mode to figure it out and kill the mimic. I hate to say it, but I’m disappointed we got this instead. Both scenarios are horrifying, but at least my scenario sounds like an interesting thriller with a potential metaphorical/analogous commentary on illegal spy cam crimes, and where hopefully the women would win against the mimic in the end. What we actually got here is just depressing and pathetic. Edit: 15:10 is the closest to what I was thinking

Since I didn’t see it anywhere in the comments 14:50 : 決戦の日 (Kessen no hi) means “Decisive Battle Day” which could mean like a day of a planned assault. Panda has been planning to ask out Yuri for a while now it seems. Girls can give chocolates on Valentine’s Day to show romantic interest. 1 month later (White Day) the person can respond if they are interested back.

Your synopses of weird anime are very entertaining.

If Explanation Point made the full bredth of his body of work "anime where The Men do strange things" I would barely complain.

The fact that the only book with a real title is "Metamorphose" and there's a reference to a very specific Freudian theory makes me wonder if there really is a subtext intended here. Which only asks more questions. ETA: checked: at least one Japanese publication of the Kafka novel does appear to be titled "METAMORPHOSE". The ShindoL book is not.

When I watched that one Netflix romcom about the girl who's being forced into dating-sim scenarios by a cold unfeeling Godlike wizard I wished it was going to drop it's veneer at any moment and become a psychological horror, but instead the wizard becomes part of the male harem she's accumulating. Your description of this anime maked me remember that and wish it became horror all over again.

i'm glad this show is getting more attention (for being so completely weird). I made my own video on it a few months back, proclaiming it the worst show of 2022 and thinking literally no one else would ever mention it. I guess I should have viewed it as a true horror masterpiece.

So by taking a run of the mill slice of life and simply making the viewer an in-universe character it miraculously transforms into weird as fuck.

The musical backing really takes this to the next level.
