There are a lot of heroes in mythology. So a servent is fetched arndomly from any mythology depending on the class. In fate zero they were using personal to summon specific characters from mythology.

Other people have probably mentioned this, but a Servant being in a class doesn't mean they're just different versions of the same hero; different heroes may qualify for the same class, and depending on the summoning catalyst used, a different hero will be summoned. Gilgamesh was summoned in Fate Zero with the fossil of the first snakeskin ever shed, because that's an object tied to his legend. However, had a different catalyst been used, a different Servant would have appeared. For example, if they used a fragment of a particular yew tree, they could have summoned Robin Hood as an Archer. In other words, Saber aside, none of the Servants summoned in Fate Unlimited Blade Works are the same heroes as the ones summoned in Fate Zero. (Gilgamesh is a special case because, as you know, he got incarnated as flesh at the end of Fate Zero).

@@KS-4612 I will preface my answer with this disclaimer: I am biased on the subject, but I will also explain *why* I am biased on it. I would advise watching UBW and then Heaven's Feel, and only after that consider watching Zero. I say consider, because I personally do not recommend it. There are parts of it that are genuinely good, I will freely admit, but the way that Gen Urobuchi, the director, butchers Saber's character has soured me on it completely. The TLDR of my issues with it is this: Urobuchi (who you may or may not know from Madoka Magica) has a particular fixation on taking characters that are "pure" and having them experience trauma to break them. He attempts to do this with Saber, despite the fact that her characterization in FSN makes it quite clear that she already went through that "breaking" in life. Thus, he deliberately mischaracterizes her as naïve and chivalric to the point of outright stupidity, which goes against her established character to a degree that is, in my opinion, a deal-breaker. If that doesn't bother you, then by all means watch Zero; as I said, there's quite a bit of good stuff in it if you disregard that part. Sorry for the long rant; it's a topic I've put a lot of thought into.

The class servants are different, its tied to legends. So their design may be similar for some like Laancer but they different heroes/characters entirely

8:14 There's a theory as to why Archer was summoned upstairs: If you remember Fate/Zero, the summoned servants appear in the summoning circle. However, Tohsaka was standing in the middle of it, so Archer couldn't appear there. Instead, the grail kinda just dropped him into the house.

"The Archer class really is made of archers." - Tohsaka Rin An Archer that use anything but bow is classified as an Archer. That's how Fate' logic works.

Man, sometimes they give you the explanation right there but you don’t pay attention and make your own random conclusion like the “Gilgamesh was given flesh so that’s why archer doesn’t know who he is”… bruh

I know loads of people explained it already but to simplify: Imagine the hero summoning system in Fate as a roster of heroes/champions in a MOBA (LOL, Dota etc.) game. There are roles to fulfill but for every role there is a bunch of heroes available. In case of Fate every class has a roster of historical/legendary heroes to pick from, so servants will differ from war to war. HOWEVER Fate stay/night is a true clusterfuck of things happening not exactly according to rules so feel free to be confused.

Rin treating Archer like he is her actual servant is everything.

The Servants in each Grail War are usually different from the last. The previous Lancer Class Servant was Diarmuid while this Lancer is not Diarmuid. A Class is more of a job or title than an actual name which is why the Servants and Masters put so much stock in finding out other Servant's names or identities. A Lancer is a Heroic Spirit/Servant that used a spear or Lance when they were alive. A Saber is one who used a sword when they were alive. How many historical figures can you think of that used a sword? There's quite a few. Any of them could be summoned as a Saber Class Servant.

some info abt servants....in every holy grail war the servants are different depending on the summoner and catalyst used so no holy grail war would have the same servant unless there is a catalyst like avalon or the mona lisa painting(i think) to act as an anchor to that specific servants summoning.

I think you guys need to know that every grail war, it's not the same character per servant are gonna appear. It depends on the artifact used as a catalyst to summon the servant. For example, if you summon a servant with Gilgamesh's artifact, you can summon Gilgamesh. If you use an artifact related from a fictional or real world historical character, you can summon that person.

A doctor performing a life-saving surgery is considered a hero... A fireman saving a human from inside a burning building is considered a hero... The Word "Hero" has lost its original meaning...

Do they ever explain why in the anime? In the visual novel they explain she keeps appearing every war because her trade with the holy grail to become a heroic spirit was the grail itself so it became a paradox but I think none even mentions it in UBW lmao

@@ozlunar6848 well she is isn't summoned on stay night Shirou just kind of steps in the magic circle, which also kind of would make sense that saber would be summoned since Shirou has Avalon within him, but I just never see that explanation that they gave in the novel being in action, maybe she could have appear for any other master anyways but having the catalyst just assures that she would be your servant instead of another master? She explained also that she can't get mana regenerated from Shirou because she is not like a servant, she is the real king Arthur until she gets the holy grail and becomes a heroic spirit, but then in ubw I can't remember that being a problem neither in fate zero, im not sure if I missed something or these are a whole thing nasu forgot when making the other routes

Alright... In the VN... Saber made a pact with "The World" that her soul would belong to it in exchange for her getting the Holy Grail and with the Holy Grail allowing her to wish to never pull the sword Caliburn from the stone... She is stuck in the point before Bedivere finds her and still has Excalibur on the hill of Camlann and is still "Alive"... That's the Saber that was always summoned... The Fact that she decides to no longer pursue the Holy Grail no matter which ending of Fate/ Stay Night is... That decision allows her to give Bedivere Excalibur to be returned to the Lady of the Lake and "Pass on" to be recorded within the Throne of Heroes... Except Fate Route where she gets to Avalon and waits until Shirou gets to be with her there... The Anime Adaptations suck at getting this point across... Granted that they tried in the end of Fate/ Zero showing Arturia in that hill of Camlann bawling her eyes out...

The alternative title for this series is " My Future Self Talking Shit About Me"

08:15 There are three reasons why Archer was summoned strangely. 1: Rin stand in circle when summon. Other characters stand outside of circle 2: Every clocks were an hour fast. It was Tokiomi`s behavior which he want Rin will be notice a small problem. But Rin forgot this problem, she missed her`s best condition 3: She forgot catalyst.

Everyone explained this already but here is the simple anology Fate classes is basically like a MOBA you know those different roles have multiple heroes who fulfill that role Well for Fate itself the servant classes is the same as that in which one class does not consist of just one person but actually multiple people(Heroic spirits who may or may not be a historical/mythology figure) who can fulfil that class of servants You may know that Gilgamesh is an archer but in fate stay night he is not one of the official servants anymore due to the black grail that incarnates him to the real world so the Red Archer is a different guy Another example is the lancer of fate zero is a different guy compared to the one we have in FSN Spoiler alert! The lancer in zero is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne while the lancer of FSN is Cu chulainn also known as Setanta or The hound of culann (which is coincidentally they are both irish man) So that's the simple explanation i can come up with 👍

@@nencrows_4580 Anything that's capable of holding back 2 dimensional wall breakers can stop Ea's Enuma Elish... Avalon has around 5 dimensional layers... Enuma Elish wouldn't have been able to even break through against Full Powered Mash from FGO using Lord Camelot... You must not have watched Heaven's Feel because Sakura easily beats Gilgamesh... Granted that Sakura's Magecraft works best against "Spirit" type entities and Heroic Spirits fall under that... Shirou's Reality Marble is a Natural Counter to Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon... Gilgamesh is middle-tier compared to the actual High-Level Beings within the Nasuverse...

Each Servant will be different base on catalysts there are so many legendary figures, the mobile game has 300+ servants. Gilgamesh, Achilles, Arthur, Gawain, Lancelot, Robin Hood, Mordred, Merlin, Morgana, Iskander etc there are as many Servants are there are legendary figures

About Archer being summoned downstairs, I think because of certain circumstances (which will be very INDIRECTLY explained much later in the show) he was summoned just beneath the floor she was on, and fell on her shelf. Then, on her way down, he just happened to make it look like it was 100% his plan to be there the whole time. At least, I think that's what happened. I can't quite recall where I got this info or if it was accurate, so if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. XD

Identity of Archer is a key to all your questions.

Finally.. A new anime with next level animation.

LOL saber artoria's Excalibur is technically conditionally one of the most powerful if certain conditions are met, like the target being a threat to humanities existence or may cause the extinction of humanity. However there are technically other more potent ones with less conditions, but maybe restricted due to said servants being illegal for a normal grail war, like Lostbelt Morgan Le Fay who can literally fire off the Anchor of reality as a basic attack.

Saber, Lancer, Rider, Caster etc is not a character. Is a class.

Archer is my fav character of the show...

12:10 It's probably pointless for me to explain here cuz you probably figure it out in later episodes, but Gilgamesh isn't the only real archer - as in when when summoning a heroic spirit, you summon him in a specific class. Gilgamesh isnt the only heroic spirit to be able to materialize in the archer class, same way Arthur/Artoria isnt the only heroic spirit to be able to materialize in the saber class. It has to do with availability, and the catalyst i'm guessing. Any heroic spirit that fits the criterias can appear in its respective class, so you could have different sabers, archers, lancers, casters berserkers.. I hope my explanation makes sense haha, cheers :D

When servants die they don’t change appearance, different heroes from different ages can be summoned, so this lancer is another person from a different age

19:10 Ok tldr: These heroes are not the same heroes and dont have to be the same. they just share the saber/lancer/archer/rider class attributes as per their legends. remember, to summon a specific heroir spirit, you need a catalyst that relates to them in some manner. so if you have a different catalyst, or none at all, may fall on whichever class is available or even a specific hero related to that catalyst. so no dont expect the same heroic sipirts haha

I was a bit confused with the thumbnail saying 12-13 and the title saying 0 xD btw, this Fate was first before Zero (not chronogically) so it explains the base of course for being first

@@montheramer6836 It´s kinda the other way around. Stay Night, UBW and Heaven´s Feel are the original. (VN story, the anime came later.) Zero is a prequel, (not a prologue) and kinda expects you to have all the information from these 3 routes already, and it wastes no time spoiling stuff if you don´t. As an example, the Sakura stuff is supposed to be a big secret that gets explained in her own route, Heaven´s Feel. (The last one of the original 3.)

I love rin voice in japanese but the english dub is still ok in my opinion

Servants are any heroic spirits recorded in the throne of heroes, classes are not bound to one historical figure.

Since I saw this video I just wanna say that if you watched the first episode of Fate/Stay Night:UBW then you're still safe but if you're done with the reaction for the whole season then too bad. Actually, after the Fate/Zero fate stay night will be the next and as a Fate Fan I know that. BUT! it's not suppose to be the UBW the next one you should watch after Fate/Zero is suppose to be Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel Movie 1,2 & 3. I just wanna share this and I hope that I helped a little.. btw I really love watching you two reacting on anime especially the SAO❤️ Edited: Also in the movie, Sakura Matou's past were also revealed there. Oh and actually the Archer Class Servant here in Fate Stay Night UBW is actually Heroic Spirit Emiya, unlike the Original Archer Class Servant which is Gilgamesh, He can only replicate unlike Gilgamesh
