The Anatomy of Flight

This video discusses the anatomical features of birds that enables them to be such successful fliers. This project was completed for Birds, Ecosystems and People, Spring 2016, at Allegheny College by Owen Ludwig, Alex Reganata, and Jordan Shimmin.

The explanation of aerodynamics of the wing were the same as I got in school and are COMPLETELY incorrect. It's all about the vortices, if you actually study flight this is one of the first classic results you learn (partly because the really neat trick to solve those differential equations is used all over the place).

Okay so at 0:34 the common misconception about hollow bones surfaces, this is apparently untrue and evolved for extra oxygen intake. Then at 2:58 the CLASSIC lift misconception of longer distance=higher velocity occurs. In fact this relies on the two streams reuniting in the same place, which they don't, the upper surface is much faster. This is simply because flow accelerates over curved surfaces. I am yet to find out why and if you know please reply. Because flow velocity increases, Bernoulli's theorem tells us the static pressure drops and so the pressure difference gives us lift.

I do not much care for what might happen to me in the afterlife. What additional insight does Allah have to offer? I'll ask again why should I humble myself before Allah? If I understand your rant correctly (and that is a huge IF in this case): Mankind cannot create birds, therefore it was god. and not a god. it was the favourite version of your god. In other words: if we cannot do it, it was an unproven entity. because reasons. damn. remember when mankind did not understand lightning? it used to be the bolt of Zeus. these days, our kids learn about it at school. the origin of life might be just like that one day. and if we cannot understand it, that means one thing: Than we cannot understand it. till then, while not understanding the origin of life, we understand evolution well enough. but give it a try: pick any phenomenon currently explained with the theory of evolution, and explain it with another mechanism. I repeat, with a Mechanism. you know, a process. Not with a fairy tale character, because no1 can test fairy tale characters. and please, for the holy ponytail of Artemis, if you respond, do it in 1 of the above mentioned languages

@@alazar3667 yes. the bible says that. and? it also says that an impossibly old man built an impossible ship to save an impossible amount of animals. and that a dude walked on water. why should I trust such a stupid book? And why don't you trust all the research papers about evolution? many books, all written by well educated professionals vs 1 book written by ignorant idiots from antiquity. and then you still don't explain anything currently explained with the theory of evolution? I am not surprised at all. you instead pick a vague video and believe in a pile of bullsh!t we can never test. and then you ask me to "imagine" the unseen world? why should I imagine it? I imagine cheap space flight, but that won't make it real. And what if I imagine not exactly yours but another unseen world? just asking, because if I picked a deity and imagined stuff, I would pick Artemis, not the evil god of the bible. Which brings me to another flaw in your "logic". If god is all-knowing and all-powerful, then he must have known from the get go that all the other gods are false. Right? but if he did know that, why did he appear so late? our species is at least 200 000 years old. And god gave all the pre-bible generations 0 chance to know god. That's about 10 000 generations of humans. That's a careless god, to say the least. But other examples show that he is outright evil. F.e. all the children who died today in tragic accidents. An all-powerful god could have saved them. he chose not to. which is bad because if you, a mortal, don't save some children you could save, you might go to prison for it. it is negligent homicide or manslaughter or stg. F.e. if you see an accident and just walk on. But you accept this behaviour from your unproven god, AND you call him good. The lack of common sense is beyond measure. anyway, make a testable claim about your god, and we'll see. Can you make one? I am not trolling with this question, I just wanna be sure here: Do you understand what a testable claim is?

The reference to the birds' evolution and adaptation throughout the video is pathetic! These creatures could have never been designed in such a sophisticated manner without the Almighty Allah... Is there one single example in Earth or in the whole universe on design without rational mind?? How do we put our words and the letters we articulate in order when we speak unless we have brains?! Has there any one thing throughout history been designed without a rational mind?? A rational designer??!! If the speakers in the video can give me one single example then I would consider that lamest theory of evolution.

everything designed needs a designer. that is true. can you prove that these animals were designed? then they obviously have a designer. or can you present any evidence for any god? at least, a testable claim about a god? till then, I keep wondering: why did all our modern gods (f.e. allah) come so late to the party. 2 000 years ago, we had cities and literacy already. and allah is mentioned exactly nowhere. but hi is a god. so his late arrival must have been his own decision, right? so allah let about 10 000 generations live and die, and gave them 0 chance to know... allah. damn, that's so caring and loving!
