Our Latin PNC got us covered from el pais del italia: Acustica Audio has some of the best plugins close to hardware more than any company. Yes, more so than FabFilter...which does a better job making stuff sound good in the digital domain whereas Acustica Audio makes stuff not only sound good in the digital domain, but also with a lot of analogue sounding lushiness (i.e. hybrid domain (analog x digital)). What about Ozone? What about it? Jajajajaja rsrsrsrsrs

I use Access Analog all the time for some mix bus bits and mastering work and I love it. Great to see the guys adding this mastering chain in too and I'm eager to try it out. It would be really awesome in the future to be able to use these beautiful pieces of hardware individually as you can with the RND Portico ii. Wanna get my hands on that hardware Bax as I use the Acustica Audio plugin, but I would love to have the hardware in my chain. Love the video.

I was planning on doing a shoot out vs. Plugin Alliance/Acustica Audio BAX EQ, Acustica' Magenta/Pulsar Audio's Massive EQ vs. the Massive Passive plus the Maag EQ comparisons but alas, the service costs $71/hour. It's far out of my budget to do such a test...plus all that extra gear would affect the tone vs. plugins.

It wouldn’t take long for a few hundred musicians around the world to overload the demand, especially if there was only one arrangement of all of these pieces. 🤔

I’ve been using access analog for 4ish months now and absolutely love it. There is definitely the fact that I now have pieces of gear I absolutely want to buy but also the expense factor is an interesting topic to me because they offer unlimited use of the gear for $600 for 6 months. So at $100/month that’s much cheaper than buying all the gear I use regularly with AA. However, you get into the discuss of renting vs owning. A service like this you don’t own it so your money isn’t going into owning the gear but it’s also much less expensive and the pros of not needing to service the gear and having recall outweigh my personal need for owning the gear. For me personally it’s been an excellent option but there are downsides such as having to wait for gear to become available. That has been the biggest issue I’ve experienced. So even with a subscription I will still reserve the gear for an allotted amount of time. I think it’s definitely something that will work amazing for some and not be worth it to others but I can say for me personally it has really been a great tool and I love using it.

I think this may genuinely be the future, though we're not there yet. Like he says, imagine all of our plugins are literally just accessing hardware gear in the cloud. Right now, I think it's not worth it to mix a whole track, but if you're working on a whole album or a slew of tracks that need final mastering, this is a great way to give them weight and depth

Access Analog recommends everybody to update to at least v6.0.16. The rate of the rig will be $89,99 per hour, subscriptions are available as well. To use the discount coupon (hidden in the video somewhere), go to the "Reserve" page and find the Infrasonic device and click into there. Then pick a time from the calendar and add the reservation to the cart. Then apply the coupon in the cart.

I really like the concept; something similar did Thomann with Guitar Pedals, but was really super annoying cause seconds of delays. I love how this chain sounds, and is still strange the capability of control something overseas. The latency is still annoying to listen (also some crack noise), but for mastering purpose it's ok (I suppose better internet connection can help, something that I do not have ahaha); but about mixing, I think that will not be reliable, too much latency to be able to work during mixing

It's very impressive and so cool to be able to test gear I could not even imagine buying because of my budget. However, the price per hour for this mastering chain is really crazy expensive. While I would agree to try it once, I would never use it in the long term. Hiring a mastering engineer for one song would be cheaper than renting this chain, plus he would certainly know better how to use the gear than me guessing. Maybe at half the price it would start being interesting.

I would love to get customized robot 'hands' for my own outboard gear so i could use it as a plugin 😂. I do think it's a cool service, but I'm curious how hard it is to book a day/time. i know you've featured this brand on your show a lot through the years, it's pretty expensive though. probably better long term to just buy the gear if you are a serious studio, of course you get the added bonus of no maintenance, plugin recall, and no need to buy more racks/patch bays as your gear haul expands.

  • @MadSteex

Question: how can be possible to manage the analog gear in whatever time I want? Life's funny. I have spend thousands of hours/days studying the mixing mastering side. But when the time comes I generally never mess with the "sweetening" that I haven't already baked in. What the hell am I studying anyway...haha I would say I am "pleased" with the level I get things and don't want to enter that rabbit hole into audiophilia. Truth be told the spectrum remixing stuff is going to revinvent the wheel alongside AI. I can remember building a space ship in the dirt as a child, things have not really progressed much music is the spaceship to another world. This is a clever idea, I knew cloud stuff would be a big deal and this is a whole nother take on it.

As someone who uses access analog (or mix analog, same idea of gear in the cloud) when clients request analog be used in a master, its really simple and easy to use. You have to reserve spots on the website or request access from the plugin. I personally like to reserve as its guaranteed but if you attempt to request a piece of gear that's being used, it will boot you out and say that its currently reserved/in use if I am remembering correctly. No queue's sadly, but its been a bit since I've used it so that might have changed.

You basically Could use Surge EQ and the LBus Comp and Taipe with Nebula / and or Jam with Acustica Audio And ASH on your Post Out Bus Will do just as good of a job as access analog are better I have my own Analog Rack UAD Volt 476 and A SoundCraft LX7II I actually do better in my own studio with Mixing with Nebula, then running it through my own analog gear And then Mastering With Acustica Audio Cola2 Tulip Sand2 Or Amethyst 4 I’ve shot that method out against access analog And I’ve beat it Several times, it’s that latency It stops you from really getting precise enough with it because you just can’t work with their gear in real time

Nice idea, but is this not really and analog chain accessible via a digital network / path. So it's a hybrid chain, D/A-A/D setup..... somewhat. Still, like you videos and knowledge.

All digital sources need to be converted. Unless you’re working from tape it’s never 100% analog. This is a analog chain. Conversion s always necessary when working on digital audio with analog gear.

Honestly I am very skeptik about how this system could really be available as they said in real time, also taking in account the price of their service, the web bandwidth for many users online and the cost of all these gears. I think they developed and used this robot machine to SAMPLE at very High High quality ALL the possibile combinations of knob settings , simply
