LYRICS:
Kick it!
Drag the lake; you won’t find me
I’ve been tempting fate
With my heart beside me
I am the stone below the water
Cold and hard to touch
Just when you think I can’t get lower
I turn my back and fuck it up
You can drag the lake
But you won’t find me
You can drag the lake
But you won’t find me
So come and drag the lake
You’ll see I’ve done some diving
I had some extra weight
With no one to untie me
I am the stone below the water
Cold and hard to touch
Just when you think I can’t get lower
I turn my back and fuck it up
You can drag the lake
But you won’t find me
You can drag the lake
But you won’t find me
I’ll stare into the sun
To burn out what I’ve done
I’ll tear myself apart
To see what I’ve become
Nothing wrong with my depression
My sick and miserable obsession
If I could only get some space
If only I could learn my lesson
You can drag the lake
But you won’t find me
You can drag the lake
But you won’t find me

Idk what drag the lake means but i love this song
I love the double meaning. In the beginning, you can drag the lake but you won't find me, meaning I'm so deep in this there's no coming back. Then the last chorus, you can drag the lake but you won't find me, meaning I'm not there any more. Absolutely love it

Lost my sister in January of 2021 to fentanyl/heroin and I think the worst part was losing her 4 years prior as she was not her on the drug. I still cry to this day knowing my kids wont have an aunt and I will never be an uncle. This song means a lot to me as the lake in my eyes are the drugs out there. Hope you are doing well brother and just know you are not alone. Like the saying goes, pain never goes away, but time makes it manageable. Wish the best of luck you and I know I am a year late, but still here for you brother.

I'm kinda happy he went towards the rock sound side. Screaming on every album has to takes it tool on the the throat and vocal cords. Oli from Bring Me The horizon had to take a break from it for a while and danny worsnop basically had to quit entirely after injuring his vocal cords. Most people hate it when screaming bands go softer but honestly I totally understand why they do it.

I’ve never seen Joel Birch use clean vocals and unclean vocals at the same time in one song that The Amity Affliction wrote. Usually it’s Ahren Stringer that does the clean vocal work and Joel Birch on the unclean vocals. This is really cool actually. Because I’m used to the balance of clean and unclean vocals. But this? This is a next level masterpiece by The Amity Affliction. It is actually really good. I’d never expected that at all.

Jason LovesABR haha well I just think it’s an odd chorus that’s all. And I do and have listened to plenty of metalcore. Any Given Day,Asking Alexandria,August Burns Red,Breakdown Of Sanity,Born of Osiris, etc. Preference is the reason why I can’t listen to it often or on repeat though. I’m not a fan of the metalcore that’s basically chugging riffs and blast beating it’s way through 4 minutes. I like when there’s more technicality than brutality involved with the instrumentals.
@corbinm5237
5 жыл бұрын
Brian Keane I still consider them a metalcore band. One album doesn’t reclassify a band entirely in my opinion. Otherwise Breaking Benjamin would be alternative metal,Within Temptation would be industrial metal (if Resist is considered metal),and Avenged Sevenfold is progressive metal. I have a hard time believing most people would associate those bands with those genres unless they continue down those creative directions going forward.
Whoever is reading this. You are wanted. You do matter. And whether or not we've shared words. I love you.
I read the comment about the chorus being angelic but was still not prepared for how blown away I was when I first heard it. This has become one of my favorite songs and I listen to it every chance I get. The chorus is absolutely beautiful, everything about this is just perfect.

Someone dear to my life showed me these , pittsburgh was the song he showed me and he has never spoken about his feelings at all always "be reet" and "am good pal" everytime i asked but i knew there was something so i kept making him know am always there then when he played pittsburgh to me it hit me like a tonne of bricks as this was him telling me how he is feeling and with him never opening up it made me so proud to know that he knows am here for him regardless. And from there i listined on to fine so much more bangers my kids love it to ha
Saw them live for the first time after seeing them after listening to them for years. His vocals live sound exactly like the studio versions. Best screamers hands down I couldn’t believe it
Ahrens falsetto is like literally the voice of an angel. Wasn’t a big fan of this album, but this song is so amazing. Joel’s clean voice is very underrated. I’d like to hear him sing more. I just prefer heavier shit that’s all.
This band is so underrated and I love most of their music.
I was abused/compromised at such a young age I had to deal nightmares, terrors which led to alcoholism and addiction. I was lost, insecure and felt alone but Joel birches lyrics saved my life and didn’t feel so alone anymore. Pittsburgh, drag the lake, all fu**ed up, soak me in bleach, feels like I’m dying and aloneliness kept me off the ledge.

Seen them with sum 41 my two favorite bands in world . They saved my life more then anyone will ever know . Thank you guys .
I'm 38 and Id call this a mix between prog, metelcore and emo. It even has an 80s hair band feel to it. They hit the sweet spot for my type of music.
i can't wait!!!!

The album for this song is a stand against mental illness of all kinds especially since some of the members of the group have battled there own shit publicly. Ive battled with my own demons my whole life and this song just happened to come across on my Pandora radio 1 day ive been in love with this song anf this band since then it has saved my life in more ways then I can express. Music really does save lives more then what people can possibly imagine!!!!
Another 50 year old metal head here! Love this band and album! Listen to it at least 2 times a week from start to finish.

I’ll be honest , I wasn’t a fan at all of this album but listening it more and more . Gives me time to think and hear the lyrics even more , and I don’t even notice how deeper this album was . It’s slow becoming my fav album from them , it’s a new amity and a different style and it’s suits them. #TAAFOREVER

This song is truly beautiful every time I hear it. I’ve been binge listening to it for 3 days now. Finally clicked that the struggles that drag you down are inevitable but not impossible to over come. Just cause your down today doesn’t mean the sun won’t rise tomorrow. Pain is temporary but failure is never the option.
