It took me a while to figure out what it meant. Deciphering AI is a lot like listening to Spanglish. You know most, and guess the rest.

Artificial Ignorance.
Again the B-17s couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. The Repulse and POW would have had nothing to fear if attacked by B-17s as opposed to Bettys.

The Army Air Force trained to hit fixed points. It was a while before they figured out how to adjust for a moving target. Two reasons for the B-17 being considered such a good bomber were the tendency to mass them over an area. It's hard to miss when a hundred planes unload in one pass. And it's ability to take damage and still make it home. They were very sturdy compared to others at the time, so could be sent out over and over.

The Bettys carried torpedoes for sea action. That makes a huge difference. Especially since the Japanese torpedoes were fast in the water.

@@barryguerrero6480 I recall the level bombers that sank the battleships were Bettys, so I may be mistaken. The Bettys were a do it all kind of plane.
Is the photo of Pearl Harbor after the attack? What is the ghost-like figure in the bottom left?
