    Thank you. Zenyatta is proof why horses should not be ridden and raced before three. I have so much respect for her owners to have waited to race her. The fact that she was a six year old mare racing against three year old stud colts and beat all but one of their butts proves that holding off is best. Too many greedy, uncaring breeders out there, and the poor horses pay for it. RIP Barbaro (one sad example)

    I felt the same as you until I spent a summer working at Arlington Racecourse. These horses LOVE their jobs, and the ones that don't, won't win. It doesn't matter how talented a horse is, if he doesn't want it then hes not going to even place. These horses got tacked up every morning for exercise and they WANTED to run, they couldn't wait to get to the track. Every horse in our string told us by their behaviour whether they wanted to race or not. They all did.

    I could watch this video 10,000 times and I'd still have the same reaction. Our girl Zenyatta grooving to More Bounce to the Ounce. This girl had it all,: her amazing speed, the element of surprise when she came in from behind, in all her races, then overtaking the race in the final stretch. Her amazing strength tested alongside thoroughbred stallions much larger than she, and her personality which was adorable

    Mari M. What I have read about Zenyatti is that is a very gentle horse. Most Thorobreds are high strung but she is laid back until she is going yo the gate.

  • @SombraWolf24
    @SombraWolf2411 жыл бұрын

    Her tongue is out because it is tied with a string to keep in out of the way while she runs. Jockeys do NOT pull on the horses mouth continuously, especially when the horse is lead out to the starting gate, the job of slowing the horse is up the the Ponyer (the man on the other horse next to her)

  • @lovetheponies
    @lovetheponies12 жыл бұрын

    By tying their tongue it prevents them from accidentally having it go OVER the bit while racing. It's just cloth. It's removed as soon as the horse returns from racing - you'll see the grooms go over immediately and take it out of the horse's mouth.

Like Man O' War had a daily Gallop every morning! And Eddie Sweat and Secertariat!!! Only True love and connection!! But I do feel bad for Kentucky Derby Winner Ferdinand who was put to Slaughter!!! :( RIP :(

    a lot of race horses tend to put their toungs over the bit so you cant control them while riding, so the trainers carefully tie the horses toung down and out so that they cant do that and the jockies don't loose control over the horse.

    i think that tongue-band and the mouth-piece causes her massive pain. that`s also the reason why she sticks her tongue out. this is a way how horses try to avoid the pain that the tongue-band and the mouth piece cause. with her "dancing" she tries to express that something is disturbing her (tongue-band and also the painful mouthpiece).

    No, not all. If people didn't race the thoroughbreds they wouldn't grow properly and their knees would snap. Thoroughbreds aren't bred for jumping or any other sport. racing to me is the greatest sport for the thoroughbred. Don't you see? Racing is an Important part for thoroughbreds. If the thoroughbreds couldn't race, Snap goes their knees. *true story happened to my friend.*I race thoroughbreds and I never send them to slaughter after retirement. I have claimed a few that have been abused.

    I think happyhobbit is more correct here. It could be a combination of nervous energy and frustration. If you watch the owners at her last race they were trying to get the crowd not to work her up so she wouldn't wear herself out before the race. Sure she knows what's coming, and I don't doubt she enjoyed racing, but to say she did this only because she was excited to get going is a little ignorant.

  • @jamesonsix19

    @jamesonsix19

    Benjamin Estes Her tongue is like that because they put something to hold it down so they don't accidently choke when running hard during a race. If you had ever actually watched her she doesn't do her dance until she gets within sight of the crowd, even though her mouth had already been set for a while. And she doesn't dance like that during workouts or while being led anywhere. It's only when she's about to race and hears the crowd. Believe me horses don't run as fast as she does if they are in pain. Look at Secretariat he had an abscess in his mouth and finished third in the Wood Memorial just 2 weeks before his record setting Triple Crown Run. And Zenyatta even does it in the Winner Circle after the race.

    Really ugly chain and or bit used with the HALTER. Look at 2:43, the halter is over the bridle, and she has two bits or a bit and chain in her mouth. Ugh. In New Zealand in my childhood, I never saw a chain or bit used with a halter. I see it a lot in videos of US racehorses.
