As a child I wrote to Mr. Rogers on numerous occassions and can attest to the fact that he did indeed personally respond to every letter. He replied to every single letter I sent him. And not with just a form letter. He would personalize every letter by including something in his reply to me about how much he liked a drawing I had sent him or bring up something that I previously mentioned to him (e.g. I was fascinated by traffic signals as a child, so he would include info or questions on that topic in his reply to me). I still have all the letters he wrote to me and a photo of Mister Roger's in a yellow sweater standing in front of an outdoor scene which he personally autographed to me and dated '1982'. He was truly an amazing man.

Umm... well, that doesn't take away that he died.

In a lot of ways, as a Christan, I see Fred Rogers as a human embodiment of how Christ wanted us to behave and treat each other. And note, I don't just say "other believers" here, but EVERYBODY.

@@TheWolvesCurse As a practicing Christian I completely agree with your point. There are far too many poser Christians who attend church for networking/business purposes. Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden are great examples of practicing the faith in modern times.

When I was a kid I asked my mom if I could write a letter to Mr. Rogers, and that was when she told me he had died. To this day, that has been one of the saddest moments of my entire childhood

Former president Jimmy Carter is about as close to Fred Rogers as we will ever see! He dedicated his life to service, navy career attaining rank of captain of nuclear submarines. Became Governor of Georgia, and POTUS . Since leaving office he's very involved with organizations such as habitat for humanity and teaches Sunday school almost every week! He never lost his humanity ,treating people with kindness and respect .

And that's impossible how? I've met many celebs in my time. My mom even used to party with Motley Crue way before I was born. Willie Nelson is my dad's fourth cousin. They don't keep celebrities in cages you know, they can go do what they want and meet who they like. If you talk to people or even your own family you'd be surprised at the connections made. Heck, even Tom Hanks found out he was in some way connected by family to Mr. Rogers himself. Why, considering all this, is it farfetched that he met him in Seattle? Many famous people frequent Seattle. Honestly, it makes me sad that people can watch a video about one of the kindest men that ever lived and actively ignore everything he was trying to teach. Try to ask more questions rather than tell someone they are lying. If it's true, you water down their experiences for them, and I would hate to do something like that to someone.

I loved the scene of them soaking their feet in the pool, and seeing Mr. Rogers dry Officer Clemons’ feet. I grew up Christian and Mr. Rogers certainly was, as he was a minister and it was so integral in his life. It can’t have been an accident that he washed Clemons’ feet just as Jesus washed his disciple’s feet. To show that being a leader is not being above someone, but to serve them as Jesus would have. A true Christian man, and I believe that Jesus would be proud of Mr. Rogers 💖 (I’m not Christian btw but I found this so sweet and reminded me of those days).

I remember my real father mocking Mr. Rogers as I watched Mr. Rogers neighborhood when I was a child. I do not think my real father understood the show. As an adult looking back at it I have begun to understand what Mr. Fred Rogers was doing.

I remember reading a comment about how Mr. Rodgers stopped a student from the university of Pittsburgh from committing suicide while on his way to give a speech at the university. I wish I could find that comment again because it is my favorite story about him and truly shows that Mr. Rodgers was a saint.

I knew there was something very angelic about him. People that thought he was creepy were the ones hiding from repressed feeling. They didn’t have mister Rogers growing up lol

Went through a rough patch, recently. Things felt pretty bleak. So, I went on YT and put on episodes of Mister Rogers. He used to really make me feel comforted when I was a little girl. And he's still very comforting today. What a beautiful soul!

I was too young to appreciate Mr. Rogers on TV, but when I heard him address the Ford Hall Forum, of which I was a member during seminary, I became a readily and enthusiastical convert to his kindly way -- and still am. I'm delighted to think that there's a moving picture out to celebrate his kindly, compassionate, and couragious TV and personal witness. He is one of my heroes, and I deeply honour his memory, and hope to follow his fine example.

I grew up in Africa and moved to the US in the 2000. I was only marginally aware of Mr. Rogers' program, but his hearing at the Senate was something that literally changed my paradigm about what "though" ought to be. It was obvious to me that nothing about this man was rehearsed or scripted. The kindness and spontaneity of his answers and simplicity it all was always something that help shape the father was I was going to become.

When they said that Mr Rodgers died of stomach cancer my heart literally shattered into a million pieces. A man that wholesome and loving did NOT deserve to die of stomach cancer!

I can't watch even a few mins of Mr Rogers without getting choked up. He was such a genuine soul

One thing I love about Mr. Roger's among others things, is that despite being a pastor, he doesn't flaunt it; he doesn't shove to everyone's throats about God, because he knows very well that everyone has different beliefs. His ways may be fully inspired by the Bible, but he delivered it in ways which are universal for everyone and anyone.

You know as someone who grew up watching his show and a little choked up when he passed, I'm still amazed about how much his legacy has lived on. Even after 17 years since he passed, every story shared has been an expression of just how much he cared about people. I hope one day that people realize his message that we are all one on this world. Just because someone thinks or looks different, doesn't make them you enemy .. just your neighbor.

I wish he were still around. We need him now more than ever.

I’m just realizing HES the reason behind my entire outlook on life and mental health. It’s because of him. I grew up watching the show and didn’t realize how his words would be imprinted in my mind forever. It hadn’t even dawned on me why I even loved the show so much but it all comes full circle. He made me feel like I was special and that no matter what I was feeling I had the power to get through it. He made me feel safe and gave me hope in the sense that he taught me ways to deal with emotions I was told I didn’t have control over. I learned so much about life from him. I’m forever grateful to this wonderful man.

Watched the documentary and movie about him As a grown man who has abit of an ego & temper I cried when he would speak of certain topics. What an amazing man he was. We can all learn a lot from a man of his compassion and kindness and love. RIP Mr. Roger's. All my love.

Mr Rogers knew how to do something that has become pretty rare nowadays : validating people. In a highly competitive society it is very easy to fall into the trap of debasing (now people call it "cancelling") others, yet Mr Rogers knew that all human beings deserve respect and there is a lot of unfair stuff that happens (that's life) yet people should be allow to talk about it so that they might be able to process some of that stuff.

If ever there was a tragedy, it's that there aren't more good men like Mr. Rogers.

someone who suffered eating disorders growing up finding out Mr. Rogers kept his weight at 143 to tell himself “I love you” every morning made me cry. He is a amazing human being. ❤️

He was like a father to me. I remembering always turning the tv on few minutes before his show came on. On his last airing show, i cried my eyes out the entire night.

Senator Pastore, at first, treated Rogers like he was another sipher, until his genuineness showed thru. At the end, he was giggling like a schoolboy and the room was full of smiles. Not from the cash, but from Fred. I always watch this clip to remember what genuine humanity can be and do to and for others.

One of the few famous people who lived up to the hype. He really was a nice bloke in real life. Amazing. You'd think being a good man would not be that hard, yet he was a rare dude.

I loved him growing up as a kid. I knew he was real and never felt creepy. He was so Genuine

I was born in 1969 and grew up on Mr. Rogers. He is the absolute epitome of caring, tolerance, and encouragement. I cannot think of a person in the public eye who was more of a role model for everyone. It's almost impossible for me to think about what meant to me as a TV figure without tearing up. He was/is that good. I watched him every day, took mental notes, and always was inspired by his messages of love and acceptance.

The movie made me cry a lot. I did miss his face tho, as pleasent as Tom Hanks is to see. Also- it's good to know my love of zombie movies is something I can have in common with Mr. Rogers.

Maybe he enjoyed Night of the Living Dead (the original) because of the character Ben played by Duane Jones? Well.... it sort of makes sense in a way (especially for that time period when that film was released). Fred always reminded us to look for the helpers when times are tough and too scary. Ben was that helper that a frightened Barbara needed.... black man or not. Such a sympathetic and headstrong character Ben was made to be further made his death at the hand of an armed posse more tragic.

I love going to the dentist as a small child due to him showing us that it wasn't scary. We share this beloved t.v. show with our children and grandchild now.

IF EVER, today the world needs a Mr Rogers more than ever... After watching the Tim Hanks bio movie again, I keep finding myself tearing up constantly at the mere thought of what a truly kind human being he was & how the world now seems to be seriously lacking such a person to potentially help us all hit the reset button. I couldn't even imagine how he would be able to digest today's seriously polarizing times, but could very easily seeing him make a public appeal to EVERYONE to remember where they came from and maybe even take the time to remember a time when they might have wanted to make real change (for good) in the world.... NOW is the time that we would truly beed HIM more than ever - coming from a person born (in 1965), just in time to be impacted by & remember the kind soul he was just as my own world was being shaped. I miss you Fred Rogers

I love how the titles of all videos surrounding Mr. Rogers have only positive words like amazing and wonderful.

I remember my grandma saying kindness is now just a novelty from the old days...

I always felt guilty, as a kid, for being afraid of Mr Rogers, but in _my_ experience, someone _that_ nice could only mean that they couldn't be trusted. Boy do I feel bad now that I know he really was a wonderful man and set a fine example, as a human being. I'm just happy to know I was so wrong.

We lost such an amazing and wholesome man.

Mr. Rogers seems to be a TV personality in USA, but is completely unknown outside. The movie with Tom Hanks changed that. Hollywood has a worldwide auditory. So now people start googling for him and find things like this video.

I had heard of but never actually watched Mister Rodgers as I am only a 15 year old. I expected nice but what I got was a wholesome, heartwarming story of a man doing good to our society.

Once, Mr Rogers received a letter from a blind fan talking about how she was wondering if he had fed his fish, since then he would always say “I’m feeding the fish now.” Whenever he fed them to tell her.

Mr. Rogers can lift Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, but he'd never use it to hurt anybody.

I seriously want to date someone like him

Mr. Rogers was one of the few actors who was always real. He wasn't even an actor when you think about it, because nothing he did was an act. He's an inspiration to us all.

I grew up watching Mister Rogers and was so sad when he passed away in 2003...and, again, just a few months ago when his wife, Joanne, passed. 😪 He was a gem, and I hope current and future generations will continue to watch Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. We need more people like him in this world. RIP Fred & Joanne Rogers. You are greatly missed. ❤

Hes so nice its creepy some times and it's good he never was a pee wee herman or something sick and twisted because he proved that not everyone is a creep and some people genuinely are filled with love and hope It inspires me now in my adult hood

Mr. Rodgers is a one of a kind. The one we should strive to be, but no one that is born into this planet would ever be such a person

The only good thing about Fred Rogers not living to see what America has become is that he would be heartbroken about what the president does to little border children, to women he wants to get his hands on, and to journalists who have a disability. For all we know he is grieving for us up in heaven today.

He was REAL. Not an actor. He was his true kind self. I loved him.🩷🩷
