Lol I got yell at on an X-men overview. Lol so I try to play it safe.

I grew up on the Raimi films and I have always wanted to read this for so long, I cannot wait to get into this. I still can't believe I get to read how it all started, Spidey forever!

I just started reading the comics back in November and before that my main love for Spider-Man came from the Raimi films. And they definitely remind me of the Raimi films more than the other ones.

@@EvilDick1995 That’s why they succeed. Raimi and the writers took what was great about the source material on the Lee-Ditko run, and amped it up to 11. The other films deliberately took their own liberties on the intent of not rehashing what was already done in those first 3 movies.

If you want a more affordable way to read these stories they have what you call Mighty Marvel Masterworks tpb. In 3 volumes you can have all these for about $45. Each volume is like $15. Easier way to read and afford them smaller book but way cheaper and better budget!

Micheline/Bagley is a must, as is a Volume 6 to connect to the Stern Omni, and a "Symbiote Saga" to bridge the gap between Stern and Micheline/McFarlane. If I get at least these 3 Omnis, I am done collecting =)

They should just print them in sequence - vol. 4, 5, 6, 7, etc. Not this "by Stern/Michelinie", etc. nonsense...

@@cheekyknave I use to think that as well. Would look great as a collection for sure! But there are two main problems. First is they already started these “author’s runs”, so if they decided to just do volumes of ASM now, sooner or later there would be double dipping. But most importantly, at a certain point in time, Spidey had multiple publications running in parallel, telling the same story arc. If they just did ASM volumes, we would miss out, or need to buy other omnis (which could take ages to be published) and jump between them every issue to follow a continuous story. Clone saga comes to mind, I think it’s spread between 5 different Spidey publications to tell a single story.

@@Sir_Stalker I understand where you are coming from, but they have been printing omni's fo years now & have only just announced SSM vol.1 for printing, yet we are on the 4th reprint of ASM vol.1? This could have been sorted years ago. Surely Marvel know that SM IP will sell. They even announced SM 2099 before WoSM...? No logic in the slightest... Whst about completing some of the hard to find classics (FF/Avengers/CA/Iron Man/Thor/Hulk, etc.) before these modern comics reprints...

I've only just started reading graphic novels in the last month, this is something I'm definitely going to get! Keep up the videos bro, they're really informative and have helped guide me through the world of marvel

First thing I noticed when you opened the book was the ghosting through the pages. That's my only complaint. Great video Omar..

I got my copy of this omnibus today and I could NOT be happier! This reminds me of the hours and joyful hours of my childhood reading these classic stories. ❤

Spidey is the greatest of all time

Not the biggest Silver Age fan but Spidey is definitely the exception. I read these for the first time as I was reading Busiek & Olliffe''s Untold Tales of Spider-Man series. Great experience.

Happy for anybody who doesn't have this who will now have an opportunity to buy it. I've got the third printing and it's a great book. I just wish marvel would continue printing at the Donnelly printer. The thin paper stock is disappointing, especially since this is a premium book. I don't know how DC does it, but the pages for even the new omnis are much thicker at mostly the same price points as the Marvel books. Hope Wolvie vol 3 is printed at the Donnelly printer

YES! This is the book I've been waiting for to fill that void once I get this book Ill have amazing Spider-Man omnibus vol 1-3 and vol 5. So now just need vol 4 to get that set complete for what has been released.

The colors on the AF15 cover are much more consistent with the original in the new printing.

Extras are definitely different from the 2019 reprint i have. Even your original printing has slightly different extras than the 2019 version (the Ditko cover is BW not colour in 2019, and it doesn't have that page of covers opposite the Ditko), although they are mostly the same .

I bought both covers for this vol 1 and still waiting for them to arrive. I now want Bronze age Black Panther omnibus to be released. The Taschen Spiderman is amazing!..no pun intended. They made it look like original newspaper print!

Just bought issue 38 recently funnily enough (and the mighty marvel masterworks, and the new Penguin book too, you can't resist the pull of classic Spidey). I've got the original printing too on this one (along with FF vol.1), now I'm wondering if I need to double dip with those extras!

I'm excited for everyone that gets to read these for the first time!

This was the first omnibus I ever bought! Was on FB marketplace at the time for $50!

I have vol 2, 3 and 5, but I haven't read any of them 'couse I wanted to start from the beginning. Now we only need that vol 4 (also, all together with the tiny font looks pretty good).

That's my strategy as well . I won't be start the reading until 1 to 5 are complete and available in the new printings as I want a continuous story. And I actually think the spine aesthetic on the new printings is actually better than the older printings ( unpopular opinion I know).

Great book I'm half way through it.. 👍👍 Pretty funny and classic how human torch and spiderman always competing with each other in this omnibus

So glad I've already got this book, cos you can already tell that the pages are thin and have bleed through as soon as the book was opened. RIP this 11/10 book

I own a third edition (2016). The extras are closer to the original printing than the latest printing, but still (slightly different). As per Pohumnom below, the Ditko unused cover is in B&W, not color.

Mine's sitting in "next shipment" on DCBS... Can't wait to get it & crack it open! I had to go for the Kirby cover 😎

Hey Omar, I have the 2013 2nd edition/printing on this Omnibus. The colours and extras contents seem identical to your first print aside from the thickness. I've pulled my book out to compare to yours and the new print. My extras only go up to the Marvel Tales covers.

I’ve always wanted to read the original comic line, but not spend my life savings on it. I’m definitely gonna check this out.

Best book ever. Save for the spine, of course 😅

Let me know when that vol.4 comes back in print. That's the only one I need!

Ah, yes...some of the first "Spider-Man" comics I ever read. If you are a Spider-Man fan, even in the slightest, I encourage you to get this book. One of the finest Silver Age works you'll ever find and one of the most important, and iconic, classic runs of all time. Everybody is introduced from Spider-Man lore - from his supporting cast (Flash Thompson, Liz Allan, May Parker, Ben Parker, Betty Brant, J. Jonah Jameson, Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane Watson) to all of his villains (literally all of them except for Venom and Carnage - Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Lizard, Electro, Sandman, Kraven, Chameleon, Vulture, Mysterio, the Sinister Six, etc.). This is one heck of a book, and my personal pick for the best classic "Spider-Man" run. 60 years of Spider-Man never looked so good!

Beautiful book. I agree that anyone who likes this character and wants a nice keepsake edition should pick this up.

Good to have this in my hands and good to see that my run will all have the image on the spine. Not over keen on then reducing the font on the masterworks intro by Stan Lee and everyone else, as my eyes may struggle reading In all, an ex ellent review, with tons of extras. Lets have vol 4 reprinted to complete the run please.

My Dm version shipped from CGN last Thursday.

For comics as old as these are it is surprising how readable and enjoyable the stories are. I’ve read the entire book and it is definitely a worth while read. One of the more interesting aspects of the book is how petty Peter Parker is as a character. He’s got major flaws, unlikeable flaws that make the stories quite interesting.

The review was MARVEL-OUS!!!!. I won't get mine until next year.

Does anyone happen to know how the paper quality and colors on this printing compare to the 2013, 2016, and/or 2019 versions?

I just bought the newest print of vol 1 with the Alex Ross cover, I want my spines to all match when I get the rest of the omnis. Will all the other omnis have the picture on the spine??

This is one I still need to get . I have the first 4 volumes of the spider man marvel masterworks but I’d rather have the omnibus collecting it all . Spider-Man is my all time favorite. He has one of the best all around casts too . Not just the villains and even his c or d list villains are interesting as reading that uncle Roger omnibus shows us . It’s all about the writing and what you do with them . Hopefully amazing Spider-Man omnibus vol 4 gets reprinted in the next few years .

I really wanted to buy this book. But IMAK printer? No way. I will wait the next printing. Or maybe the next after that 🤔

No, they still print the masterworks and the gallery editions. And some Omnis. I just think they aren’t operating at full staff.

Absolutely love this Omnibus! Have the gigantic 2nd printing,,but I ordered three copies of this book just to have them. Although I am not a fan of the smaller font size. Dudes at Marvel need to change that. As I get older I don’t wanna have to put on reading glasses to see which book I’m reading. Great overview!

I think the only reason we'll be getting reprints of a lot of the OG silver age omnis will be to replace people's originals WITH the smaller font, so there's a good side to the smaller font at least.

On amazon, it shows a picture of the old cover but says it’s the new printing. Does the one sold on amazon really the old or the new printing?

Where do you buy the new printing Kirby cover?

I’m getting it for the extras but I hate the paper thinness too.

You can really see through those pages to the next page with that thin paper :(

The paper thickness is comparable to truck stop bathroom toilet paper. You know the kind, where you need a tennis ball size thickness to wipe your ass and prevent poke through? Thats the paper.

I don’t know. I didn’t Get those new printings of those books. But it’s thicker than the JMS reprint.

They ought to do a variant with the original colours which were rather muted in comparison to these saturated reproductions.
