The (almost) 100 YEAR Old Claypot APOM MANIS + STRANGE Rojak Sauce | PENANG, Malaysia

Here we go, day three!!
What a weird day where I really didn’t have any plans but just seemed to walk all over the city.
Started off with a nice sweet treat the apom manis. These were nice and savoury yet not too sweet. Enjoyed with a cup of kopi and before I knew it I had eaten 7 haha.
Just a block away I went for some of the most highly rated stir fried noodles in Penang. The mee goreng sotong noodles were life changing and I can say that they may have shown me the way of the stir fried noodle.
Next up, a Penang locals favorite, rojak. This was one of the most interesting things I have eaten and there is no better way to explain it than, strangely addicting.
Time for Kimberely street! A night time food lovers dream. I came with a few dishes on my mind that I wanted to try, but only went 2 for 3.
The Duck Kway Chap was phenomenal, nothing like what I had in Singapore as I felt like this version was much less sweet. Lasty, the chicken feet and kway teow th’ng, had to be some of the best chicken feet I have eaten since I lived in Hong Kong.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a guy from Arkansas chasing his dreams of traveling the world, meeting amazing people, and trying all the delicious food I can find!
Recently finished working in Hong Kong. I am from a small farm in the states, I am now taking advantage and the opportunities I have to travel the world in search of some of the most delicious foods, unique places, and friendliest people.
A lover of street food, good laughs, and learning about other cultures. I hope to indulge in all these things and more as I bring you along with me on my epic journeys.

    I think if we ever return to America and dip stuff into coffee and eat, we'll be kicked out... I like this series because even a lot of us don't know about the claypot Apom. Those in KL are cooked in cast iron. And for the rojak stall, looks like it is a local joint too. Pretty cool you blend in easily, i.e. take the food, stroll casually across the street, order your coffee and eat among the uncles; like you lived there and not just a passing traveler.

    Max, I'm very impressed with your expertise in eating durians. Here in the west durian has been demonised. It's been condemned as the world's most smelliest fruit. Yet they are happy to scoff smelly Stilton, blue cheese and to the horror of horrors, CASU MARZU. It's the maggot infested sardinian cheese eaten while the maggots are crawling. I'll be delighted to devour tons of durians than the ever minging cheeses. Fair play to you max, each time I watch you savouring durians, I salivate.

  • @Macoi24

    @Macoi24

    I like to think of it as their loss. You're right, the rotting cheeses in theory are much more gross than durian. However, I eat them both. Instead of looking down at durian, you should be looking at it like a fine aged cheese. I know people in Asia do, but I am saying people in the west should too.
