The Allure of Downpatrick Head in Ireland: Why this is a must see Destination! (S3E1)

Fáilte and Welcome to Éire Rider Motorcycle Adventures my name is Ben,
The next season starts with Co. Mayo and in the first episode we explore The Allure of Downpatrick Head in Ireland. One location that is not to be missed and is a really special place for the Irish.
In this video we will explore the head, discuss the legend of the Dún Briste (sea stack) and I will also include the road journey to get to this location. The location itself is set on the wild atlantic way along Irelands west coast and is a signature point in Co. Mayo.
A signature point is the highlight of the wild atlantic way points and is noted to be the best place to visit.
Join me on Facebook and you can check out my website www.eirerider.com for places previously visited.
Thanks for watching...
I have left a outtake at the end of the video.. sometimes things just dont work out! LOL Enjoy.

@1:39 that small town/village is Killala. @2:02 You turned left coming off the bridge, going directly ahead there would bring You to Downpatrick via a scenic coastal route. @6:04 the small concrete hut is one of over 80 look out posts built all around the coast of the Republic of Ireland during World War Two.

Thanks Westcoast. Yeah these were lookout posts. I see there is one on Achill island too by Keem Beach.

Hi Ben. Just came across some of your fantastic bike trip videos. I notice that they are mostly in Sligo/Leitrim/Mayo/Donegal area. Do you travel around Leinster or Munster at all and, if so, have you discovered any "hidden gems"? I live in Dublin and run a touring group and we go out most Saturdays, weather permitting of course. I have my own list of around 250 venues, all reachable in a day's return trip from Dublin, but would be interested in finding some new scenic/historic places to visit. Thanks.

Hi there, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately I started this channel at the same time I moved this side hence why I have so much done of the surrounding area. You can check out my website www.eirerider.com to few a map of Ireland and the places I've visited. I have also loaded a gallery with photos. Not many on that side unfortunately but I did see alot before I started documenting it.
