$399? The darn thing is $499 for the 128GB model, and $599 for the 256, as of 6/23/23 11:07AM Eastern. At that MSRP, you're trading the functionality of SD card/SIM card usability of competing model tablets for a charging dock with a speaker in it. At $399, this might be an acceptable trade-off, but I think at this price it's asking too much.

Great video as always. If it is possible, can you please do a comparison between the ROG Ally and latest GPD device that. Would be interested to see what comes out on top, and whether or not performance is within margin of error. Because the GPD devices usually have better I/O on the device itself and less dependency for a dongle or USB hub.
Good that you steer away from those "personal assistants" that basically puts another microphone in your home.

There's the 20$ rockchip adapter that plugs into the USB c, sends video over HDMI. Basically If your Android does data over USB c, it'll work. Pretty much exactly how Android auto works, and why it's muddy looking too There's slight lag, but I played super Metroid and it was good enough. The only ditty, it looks like a softer sub 720p image. Plus the aspect ratio will be whatever the tab is. And the last!!! You cannot leave this tab on the dock, and use it. Data over USB c and charging from the dock together does not work currently.

I expected the dock to provide a richer sound for gaming but you didn't use it.
I really like this. Performance seems fine and I like Google's flavor of Android. I have an older Android tablet running A11 which I use quite a bit and I can confirm Google has been making an effort lately to give us better tablet-optimized apps. I'm not thrilled with the unrelenting pinkness of stuff on screen that should be white, but, I'm assuming that's due to your camera not handling a white screen, with white bezels, and a white desk/wall all that well. Kind of like when you're out shoveling snow and after a bit everything looks pink until your eyes recalibrate. Maybe? Or it could be something to do with Google's Monet color themeing? I'll reserve judgement for now because everything else looked fine. I also don't like the lack of a headphone jack, but, very good USB-C DACs are cheap these days so I'll live. The 'Hawaii Bad Boy' channel here on KZread has done some solid reviews on them if you've got a device from a "courageous" manufacturer but would like to have actually good wired sound quality.
@JstormZx

That pinkish tint...it's not monet doing that. On the home screen, the Google search bar and icons are supposed to be white. This is definitely a camera reacting to the tablet's display issue. As @nurpurp15 said, monet does not affect on-screen content like pictures, (non-themed) icons and videos. Just the systemUI. Aka background colors, system buttons and the keyboard, to name a few.

mkbhd is a goof. his reviews are pretty worthless imo. no one in reality thinks this tablet or a g2 is slow. problem with reviewers is they get sent the most expensive stuff free all the time, and eventually turn up their nose at anything less. happens with car reviewers too. if it isnt the most expensive, powerful off road version of the truck they dont want it. mkbhd is just mad it doesnt have 120hz which is all reviewers care about. that and wireless charging on phones. superfluous things rather than you know, is it a good tablet. i'm using a galaxy tab 7 with a sd865 and only 6gb ram and it's fine. amazon fire max 11 just came out with a less than sd865 cpu and 4gb, and it's like 2x as powerful as the last one. it's more than fine. millions of mid range tablets exist with way less power than a g2 and only 4gb ram or less. granted some of them are slow.

@@spiderpig1736 its 500 nits, thats normal good tablet brightness or better. dunno about the tint i dont care, absolutely no way you can judge that over youtube anyway as it's through a camera. if it worries you dont buy it, i dont care and am sure its fine. 120hz doesnt matter at all, just a snob thing. it didnt even exist until 2 yrs ago and everybody was good. it's nice but it's like 1% worth giving a crap over literally anything else. at least if it's like phones i find i get used to the hertz after 5 mins and dont notice anymore. it's only noticeable the first 5 minutes after switching from 120 to 60, and not relevant even then. but why do i never see you on phone reviews talking about how important the display is when all they ever talk about is the camera? sounds like little nits bother you and thats fine. i find the things you mentioned inconsequential, the dock is a game changer in contrast, for me. if i wanted 120hz i'd get the one plus pad, but since i'd far far rather have the dock than 120hz i'll get this. the dock just works for my life, so i can watch youtubes in the kitchen. i have a echo show 8 for that but it's slow trash. then also the dock will allow the tablet to always be charged, another gamechanger tbh, so i can move it to the coffee table with a stand and bt kb whenever i'm playing destiny for using DIM etc. i use my tab s7 for that now and have to have big trip hazard cable going to it all the time. if i dont have the tab s7 always plugged in, then i wont use it for days and it will end up dead when i need it. with this i'll use it, plop it back on dock in kitchen when done. it just works for me. Literally all a snob like MKBHD really cares about is 120 hz and it PISSES ME OFF. The tablet could blow up and kill small children and as long as it's 120hz he'll love it. Idiot. Even when he tries to pretend 120hz isnt a big deal he's lying to try and appear normal. it's the same as literally the only things phone reviewers care about is wireless charging and the camera. the phone itself could be a blade that pokes them in the eye they wouldn't even notice.

It's a good thing that google did not have oled since the display will be on all day like a smart display like the google nest. Using oled will have a higher rate of burn in issues. All the nexus and pixel devices that I use ended up having the display brightness decrease over time with oled displays and all the oled displays turn to a yellowish tint. The white colors turn to a yellowish tint like cell phone clear cases that turn yellow in the same way. I used to use clear cases for my android devices but the clear cases turn yellow and the oled displays turn yellowish with white in them like the clear cases I used to have on my android devices. I don't like it when all the oled displays that I use decrease brightness over time and they turn yellowish. It makes the display harder to see outdoors. I have use my hand over my phones display just so I can see the display outdoors otherwise the sun gets on the display and it makes harder to see the display outdoors. I even have the display screen brightness maxed out and it's still not bright enough. I wish there was a red magic 8 pro gaming phone but a tablet version with the same brightness as the red magic 8 pro with the same specs as well as the sony xperia 1 v android phone but a sony tablet with the same specs such as 4k 120 hz and 1,000 nits however the display would be mini led or micro led both for the red magic 8 pro gaming tablet and the sony xperia 1 v android tablet so there would be no issues with burn in. The red magic 8 pro gaming tablet would have diablo mode to overclock the cpu and gpu with the red magic 8 pro desktop mode. The sony xperia 1 v android tablet would have native playstation support without cloud steaming but using the internal storage and micro sd card slot to play games from the sony PS1 thru the ps5. Also have cloud streaming as an option for those that game streaming from the cloud. I don't cloud stream when playing games. I wanna be able to play PS1 thru ps5 games like the game consoles but running android on an android tablet from sony. Basically if sony made a ps5 and a sony xperia gaming tablet edition running android with ps5 games and backward compatibility will all the playstation games from the ps1 thru ps5 on the sony android tablet itself running natively with the option play the console discs by hooking an external disc drive on the sony tablet. I been wanting to plug an external disc drive to an android tablet to play my console games and play audio cds, rip the audio cds to the micro sd card slot. Like the original Xbox game console but running android that can play audio cds and play physical copies of the games but the sony android version.

Limited headroom for the future as this is likely a 5-7 year investment so the Tab S8 is better value in the UK as this is equivalent to $750 (£600) over here. I think it is $499 in the US not $399? Effectively only two years more updates as it comes with Android 13, and Android 14 releases next month, so only 15&16 after that. The storage size makes this tablet near worthless for retro gaming, unless 16bit on down.
Best fire tablet Best double speaker fron fire Best google tablet high end Best low setting gaming Best low end Best budget Everything is the best Best channel
Would be nicer for me without the stand and with the front facing camera moved to the top. I generally use these vertically and having the camera on the side interferes with the auto brightness and shut off as your fingers constantly sit over the camera.
Oh come on, the Mali GPU is awful for the price
399? It's 499USD here.
Anything more than 300 for a tablet that is gonna be used for games is nonsense
Seriously it is a killer Android tablet if Google unbundles it from the dumb dock and cuts the price (by say $100).
One of the best?? Riiight... At $399, good vfm. Maybe.
The All New Pixel Tablet Is One Of The Best We've Ever Gotten Our Hands On!
Try on some stylus pens and keyboards…
The pricing is not bad for the tablet, not gonna lie. But if I want a productivity machine which is like a tablet, I'll probably go with either iPad or a detachable Chromebook. But this one provides good performance for the price.

I am afraid of buying another pixel tablet after how they treated the pixel C.
Tablet will get more powerful some day and may play real PC Games...
$500? Nope. I’ll keep my iPad with large memory for $550 it’s a no brainer vs this.

Lol, yeah but I cry my head off as soon I start any streaming service with an iPad. The screen aspect ratio is simply a joke.
No sd card , it’s a a no for me
if I just don't want to play video games on my tablet. I'm better off with an Amazon $75 tablet
