Zelph On the Shelf my dear friend since you are an atheist, I cordially invite you to refute a syllogism titled BOOK OF MORMON DEBUNKS ATHEISM. I'm sure that all your fellow atheists would love to financially support someone who has the COURAGE to stand up for his atheistic beliefs. If you choose to ignore or to reject my invitation, it would be crystal clear to ALL YOUR FOLLOWERS that you do not believe that which you preach no pun intended. Do you accept my invitation?

Davey Jones you stated " why should they accept " They should accept my invitation, to prove me wrong in front of those who help suport him financially, so they know that their money is going to someone who is truly an ATHEIST, and not a charlatan mascarading as one of "them".

Davey Jones you stated: "that nonsense [ theism ] has been debunked LONG before Mormonism came along" If that were true, the atheists would be the majority among the worlds population, and theism would be be nearly eradicated from the face of the Earth. 500 years ago practically all Europeans believed that the Sun revolved around the Earth. Galileo DEBUNKED that false teaching, and now practically all humanity knows for a fact, that all those Europeans who believed and taught that the Sun revolved around the Earth were wrong, thus most people around the world REJECT that foolish pseudo scientific claim. Thus, if theism "has been DEBUNKED" why are are theists still the majority of the Earth's population?

Davey Jones you stated "the Book of Mormon Debunks Mormonism" I CHALLENGE YOU TO PROVE THAT STATEMENT. You see, making a claim and proving it are two completely different things. Now if you are truly an ATHEIST, why don't you fight for your beliefs by accepting my invitation to refute the syllogism titled Book of Mormon Debunks Atheism?

Josh Kim He also had sister and mother daughter sets. forbidden in the Bible but it's OK for Joseph Smith. He also childishly put his name throughout the whole Bible. It's talking about Joseph in Egypt and then all of a sudden it mentions Joseph Smith of the united States. how stupid to think that that would be left out of the Bible.

14? So what. In Joseph Smith's time, the legal age for marriage in New York was 14. Marriage at that age was not frowned upon in that time. My wife is a genealogist, and she has several people in her linage who were married that young. :o)

  • @mouthymormonmetalhea

    @mouthymormonmetalhea

So are you saying that because the idea that someone in his thirties marrying someone who is a teenager back then was ok by that society's standards, that means that it's ok? What if I told you that I had sex with a sixteen year old when I was in my late 20's? Was it also ok for Joseph Smith to use his position as prophet to promise salvation or threaten damnation if these girls said no in order to motivate their decision? According to Tom Compton's In Sacred Loneliness it was justified that a woman could leave her husband in order to get sealed to a man with higher priesthood authority in order to have better status in the celestial kingdom. And because Joseph Smith, being the prophet and holding all the keys, had the highest priesthood authority it was justified that he could have a crack at someone else's wife. Does this not sound like doctrinal justification that can lead to gross abuse of power? Joseph Smith also made some of these proposals when the girl's support network was absent and she was going through some kind of traumatic change. Is this the best time to be leveraging your authoritative position as a coercive influence to get the girl to say yes? Is this ok just because we are to believe that God commanded it, Joseph was threatened by an angel with a drawn sword, and there is no way that God's golden prophet of the restoration can do no wrong? If these circumstances happened in any other group or were perpetuated by any other person than Joseph Smith you would say "charismatic cult leader."

I escaped LDS right after my mission 25 years ago. Tried to be Christian for the last decade. When my church started a series about evil Mormonism, they convinced me that all churches were just different lies. This video nailed it when they said any argument about Mormonism can be used against Christianity as a whole.

By the end, this made perfect sense. I was thinking the whole way through, "How does this guy possibly think he is convincing anyone of what he's saying?" Then, as soon as he revealed the depths of his OWN doubts, it made perfect sense. He's not trying to convince someone else - he's trying to convince himself. He's slowly realizing that his worldview with which he's been programmed his whole life is crashing down around him, and his last ditch effort to try and salvage it is to convince himself that he would decline into moral turpitude without it. I genuinely hope he realizes that's not the case, because he actually seems like a good and pretty intelligent person. I was lucky; I've never experienced this crisis of faith personally - at least not with religion. Though my parents did take my brother and me to a Protestant church until I was about 12, they left and took us out when the church's choir director, who .was/is one of their best friends, was excommunicated when the pastor found out he was gay. My parents had known this all along and fully supported it, and they thankfully took this opportunity to realize that they could raise their children to be moral and empathetic people without religion, which we are, so my 'transition' to atheism was hardly a battle. But for those for whom it is, I wish the best, and want to support anyone I possibly can. Thank you guys again for another awesome video.

That’s a mixed bag, most anti Mormon apologist also known as evangelicals really enjoy pointing out who is going to Hell. Atheist apologists don’t believe in souls but are really in to the discovery of personal truth. As A person who still deeply believe in God but holds that all religious dogma is basil’s man made crap. I am also on a journey for personal truth. As my only point of evidence. I can reference NDEs even atheist have them. They point to all a loving God who has no interest in religiosity, the main lesson is learning to love yourself and others. Love and hate cannot exist in the same place.

Good work guys! The concepts that you're putting forth in this video are so simple they're actually lost on a lot of TBM's because they've been taught their entire lives that they can't actually be good enough. So for you guys to say that you're atheist and totally at peace with yourselves and actually help other people, kind of blows their minds. I'll say this, there is no comparison to the moment when you realize you're atheist and you always have been and that it fits with every single experience that's happened to you in your life. You never again have to do mental gymnastics to make sense of goofy religious teachings that, in your heart, you know can't be right. Remember religion needs you, you don't need religion.

The articles says, _"Perhaps with all the temptations that abound, it’s just easier not having to worry about a God who will hold us accountable for our choices."_ Yes it is easier, but not because of "temptations". It's easier because you don't have to worry about considering additional judgments or input from someone _completely irrelevant_ to any choice you make in your life. Moral choices are based, hopefully, on a rational consideration of how it will affect those _real and relevant_ people involved. _That's why!_ And honestly, that is how real life works anyways! edit: Also, in the process of trying to justify his discrimination towards gay couples, he's exposing the problems of a perfect heaven. _"...every time society allows one choice, one lifestyle, one belief to be honored above another, someone must feel dishonored. And nothing creates more anger and unrest than to be dishonored, to be respected less than your peers."_ So I can imagine a world in which I get the perfect amount of attention and praise for anything I do. I never feel dishonored and always feel accepted by everyone whom I come in contact with. In a heaven with so many people who have the ability to put themselves in another's shoes, how could envy or jealousy _not_ arise? So will there be "radical equality" in heaven? If so, then either radical equality isn't really that bad, or heaven isn't really that great. If not, then how much discomfort, inconvenience or annoyance will exist before one can no longer consider it heaven? What constitutes eternal happiness?

Hey you two, I have watched most of your videos and I am truly grateful for being saved from getting baptized into the Church of soul destroying lies...especially when I was at my very lowest and experiencing rock bottom through the emotional turmoil that comes during/or for me after an ectopic pregnancy...yes the missionaries used it saying I would get to raise my baby Bonnie in the afterlife...cruel right...except they turned up with a couple who were also older missionaries who had lost children themselves (although separate)...very sad, my heart when out to them as clearly they genuinely believed it themselves...mindset's get incredibly damaged during the grieving process...however I am despite saying all of the above beginning to shift back To the Catholic Church myself (I have not yet converted) but their support and kindness was for me the most authentic and loving....I haven't watched one of your video's for over a week but I wanted to say thank you. Also I know Tanner that spirituality having left one church (I was baptized/total submersion C of E in 2013, Exeter Cathedral.) can be tough...but I wanted to see if either of you have heard of The Quakers....they practice something that may be more closely aligned with what you Tanner have expressed you feel in other videos...) kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZXxkmsWyiLm_dNo.html 9 Core Quaker Beliefs...and another video about how green and politically active they are Sam...(I appreciate that this may not be your cup of tea seeing as you now consider yourself an atheist...kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z65kmbiFk9bfos4.html ....something past my intuition was prompting me to share this with you two...Peace either way.

Watching this helps strengthen my "REVERSE testimony" of mormonism. Apart from watching uploads such as these though, I stand in front of the mirror each day, and repeat the following: "I know Joseph Smith was a FALSE prophet and the Book of Mormon is a product of the 19th century." It feels energising and wonderful when I do this, and I also get that wonderful spiritual witness that the mormons promise...but never happens. Words cannot do justice to how great this feels. Most anti mormons do NOT receive, or seek such a spiritual witness as they rely ONLY on evidence, reason , careful research and common sense. However, having spiritual experiences as an anti mormon, is a wonderful bonus for a few of us.

My view was that the parable didn't say that the pissweak failures would compliment each other. Now, I don't care how much anyone studies Christ's teachings, they will not see any error in that. You are welcome to point one out, if that's your opinion, but I am certain you are just a bozo who is pissin in my ear, and I won't get a thing from you. As for following Christ's teachings, that will not point out an error where no error exists. Tell me? One who has been LDS, - did you join because we weren't following Christ's teachings? Now, of the 50,000 sects that pretend to teach Christ's teachings, which is it that has changed your mind? Why didn't you go there first? What teachings are right in yours and wrong in ours? Finally, why does a Christian compliment someone who is preaching atheism? Apart from it being plainly stupid, it does meet Satan's standard of anything is good, just as long as it opposes Mormonism. Yes, even Christians support atheists. The poof David Holdstock is just the same. That Little in your name stands for little sense.

" Finally, why does a Christian compliment someone who is preaching atheism? " The biblical God is an athiest. He doesn't believe in any Gods or having a God himself. Isaiah 45:5 "I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me:" .................................................................................................. He also says that you have no chance of being a God either, declaring his Athiesm to be eternal and unchangeable.......... Isaiah 45:5 "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."

You really are an idiot. If the biblical God says there are no others besides Him, then He can't be an atheist - He has to believe even He is not a God for that to be true. Your take on Isaiah is dependent on conditions after death, and God was speaking to the living about their current conditions. While this world continues with mortals on it, there are no real Gods but the one true God. However, it doesn't mean in another realm and time there are not multiple Gods. As His children, we are capable of being just like He is. You really are an idiot.

Why does leaving Mormonism automatically mean losing God altogether? Isn't is possible to think critically for one's self, read the Bible, and find a deep connection with the Creator of the Universe? Isn't it evident that there is "Intelligent Design?" Not feeling based, BUT evidence based!!! God is still real. Right? Do you ever think that you both are loved and cared for by a God is who NOT a bully?

JEM Seven, what you just pointed out is exactly why LDS is a cult. Jesus is how we receive salvation, not a church... God is the relationship, NOT any church. So back to my question: dump the self-serving church. But keep God. We all need a relationship with the divine. There are so many benefits of being in relationship with the Creator. Why can't really fine Mormons like these two FIND their faith in Scripture taught by a Bible-honoring church?

JEM Seven, your compassionate insight impresses me. It's like becoming a man-bashing feminist because the ex-husband was a lying, adulterous, abuser. One a$$hole is not an accurate statistical sampling of half the human population... I hate that ex-Mormons lose Jesus. I hate that ex-Mormons lose their salvation. I hate that ex-Mormons lose the knowledge of All Powerful God's all powerful love for them. I hate that ex-Mormons lose. Period. They succeed in leaving the lie, but fail to keep traveling to the destination of TRUTH. If I was satan, counterfeit religious cults (like LDS and Islam) would be my top strategy for ruining eternity for billions of people made in the image of God.

It's NOT evidence based though. You're still lying to yourself. There's NO evidence of intelligent design that hasn't been debunked if you actually go out and do the research from an objective point of view, rather than just ignoring the stuff you don't like. The short answer to your question, as proven IN your own comment, is NO. It's apparently NOT possible to be religious and think critically. You just proved that by claiming that intelligent design is in any way evidence based.

Joe Stark first and foremost the church is considered perfect, its members are not. You cannot realistically expect a church run by humans to be 100% perfect. Has the church made mistakes, yes. Do those mistakes make the church any less true, no. Critics of the church ignorantly believe that it is the responsibility of the church to educate its members on the entirety of church history. The purpose of Sunday worship services is to teach the thing that will bring us closer to Christ. Anything else is up to the individual member to learn. The information is easily accessible, but not everything you find is accurate.

Adam Johnson Ignorance? The church itself is loaded with ignorance, double standards, and cult controlling aspects. Do people raised in the church really have a testimony when they spend their entire life programmed to say it? The amount of cover ups, misinformation, and alternate histories just blow my mind. I was raised in the church, and I know far more about the truth looking at it from the outside then I ever did on the inside. So much time was spent talking about Joseph smiths history, yet they completely left out the massive list of things that he did, and his inherit scamming nature. A vast majority of the churches members are completely unaware of these things, and that’s lying by omission. People bear testimonies on half assed information, and that just makes me laugh. The church claims to value the truth, that it take criticism from ex Mormons, and is about living Christ like. These are all blatant lies, the church actively hides the truth, ignored ex Mormons, and is taking action against its own members who call them out for being un Christ like, especially with John Dehlin and Sam Young who are trying to protect children and members who have struggles. Sam will most likely be Excommunicated tomorrow for trying to protect the children, being inspired by Christ. John is trying to reduce the suicide rate of youth in the Mormon church, and he was excommunicated. The church and it’s disallowance of black people in history was proven to be a lie, and I can tell you with certainty that the restriction of gay people from being members is just an arbitrary rule set by bigoted clergy that is being upheld until they waver like they did with the racial problems. Doubling down is a solid reason for Utah’s youth suicide rate being so high, and it is extremely un Christlike to destroy families, create apostates out of people who had no choice, and destroying the lives of many who realize this later on. The church is shrouded by layers of ignorance, my family alone block out any outside influence to maintain a strong faith. This is a cult, and that is a prime example of a person being controlled by a cult. They are sexually repressed until they fulfill a church marriage, they have to wear garments, they must pay 10% of their income, and if you fail to do any of these things you are threatened with your damnation for eternity in outer darkness. This is a cult! Until you can objectively look at the reality of the situation, and realize that spiritual feeling is being used as a control mechanism (I get that “holy ghost still small voice” feeling when thinking about pornography and drinking, it is nothing more then a feeling). When the foundations of your faith hinge on feelings, one sided history, and the so called revelations given by man, it has a foundation of sand. When put under the microscope, it is exposed and cannot stand up to its own weight. If you cannot see this, you are not objectively thinking, or lack the comprehension to do so. It is not easy when you spend your whole life programmed by a cult.

Mormons have long seemed to me to be a hair's breadth from atheism since it doesn't rely on faith in God and his character so much as your own personal testimony, an experience. When that goes, the whole thing comes down. Mormons who have a love for the Bible seem to fare better coming out faith-wise.

I am bold enough to suggest that your age (very young when compared to me) explains your reverting to atheism. That is where I ended up some 55 years ago. Now, I am more agnostic than atheist. Who knows, I may become fully convinced of Christianity's claims before I shuffle off this mortal coil. My wife (an unrepentant German) finds the whole theological debate rather comical. She tells me that in Germany prior to WW1, her mother said, all one was told "obey your God, your parents, and the Kaiser!" The ruins of post WW1 changed that idea, then along comes Hitler, everything was back in order...then the destruction of post WW11, and the belief system crumbled along with the infrastructure. In other words, when expectations collide with reality, betrayal is the inevitable result. Nonetheless, I am still of the opinion that the spiritual journey for young Samantha and Tanner is far from over, and I wish them both a very happy journey. Keep up the sense of humor!
