Just love how Parsons and Woolfson put some other songs in as a reprise or reminder at the end; the raven, a dream within a dream, the fall of the house of usher.. a great atmospheric song!

Sung by the great and underrated John Miles.. Alan Parsons also produced his debut LP, John Miles, Rebel, which had the hit "Music", a great tune..

Tales is probably my favorite APP album, at least the original version, I'm not crazy about the changes in the newer version. While it may not capture the atmosphere of some of Poe's works, I think instead, Poe was their inspiration. A true masterpiece.

Agree loved this album. As a kid we had local radio stations that would take callers request. This song was the first and only song I ever called into a local radio station to play it. About 40 minutes later I heard the DJ put it on. Was awesome.

The better the song, the more thumbs down. Clear indicater of snowflakes, jealous that THEIR music sucks so bad that within a year after released, it will be completely forgotten. 😊😁😃😄😆

This is Awesome i have always loved this song and just saw this video today AWESOME

This, instead of the obvious choice of "The Raven", was the first single 20th Century Fox Records released from Tales of Mystery and Imagination. Nonetheless, album rock stations went with playing the whole "Dream Within a Dream/Raven" track. Interestingly, the musical motif from "The Raven" reappears briefly in the outro along with other themes from the album.

Ok. But the cómics of the story doesn't belong to the tale of "Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether". I think the drawings are from the the tale "The facts in the case of Mr. Valdemar", published by Poe in American Review (december, 1845). There he describes a dead man keep alive thru hypnosis til the experiment (mesmerism) failed and the man became decomposed. Esta bien. Pero creo que las imágenes no describen el cuento "El sistema del doctor Tarr y el profesor Fether". Creo que se ajustan más bien al cuento "Los hechos en el caso del Sr. Valdemar", publicado por Poe en la American Review (Diciembre, 1845). Allí él describe como a través de la hipnosis y el mesmerismo, un paciente literalmente muerto se mantiene con vida, hasta que el experimento falla y el cadáver se descompone en rápida putrefacción.

the best and most magical time in music history that ever was , was from 1969-1978. there was better and more magic in these years and more hits than anytime in music history. all the good music after 1978 till today can't even begin to add up against the time from 69-78 period. there were far more creative genius men and women writers that had so much more ingenuity and creativity than in anytime in music history ever and u had to be there to even get it. i not trying to get people to do drugs or am saying drugs are ok because they aren't, but drugs was the primary reason for most of the artist's perception and imagination. for instance, the Beatles only wrote about 3 things in every song they produced and didn't have words of drugs in them but most of the songs they wrote were inspired by trips on acid they took thus producing Strawberry Fields Forever, Yellow Submarine ETC, but they only wrote about 3 main things, Love, Sex & drugs which is very relative to the most of their songs because a lot of their music was way out there.
