The Airgun Show - garden rabbit hunt, PLUS the FX Impact Mk2 Compact…

Спорт

Summer is the prime season for rabbit shooting, and Mat is heading out on a bunny hunt with a difference. The rabbits are causing problems in the garden of a holiday home so Mat is setting up with his Daystate Red Wolf to bring them to book. It’s a breezy evening but Mat uses the conditions to his advantage and ambushes the unsuspecting rabbits as they head out to feed at dusk.

made a good point near the end. As you work the perm the shots you might need to take can be further off as the wabbits get more wary during subsequent visits . I can sit in a mobility scooter brazen a a fox on an unshot perm and be having them pop out at 25yrds and not bother, It is a good idea to have a range of skills in your bag .

Nice wee video Matt, but knowing .22" FAC I expected to see the damaged plastic kick-plate in the background @4:52. Bit too much power for that range. Would be ideal to have an FAC FX instead and just turn the power down for closer shots, or wait till the backstop is safe. The Impact Compact is a very nice size / weight too, so I'd love to know the .22" FAC (30FPE) shot-count from that smaller bottle -and see you re-do this shoot with one, inc' turning down the power for closer shots. Cheers. Russ

@@daveanness Through a full-grown rabbit's head, yep, but (as long as the pellets aren't too heavy) they shouldn't cause too much background damage after hitting the target at that range. My own .22" FAC's 30ft/lb muzzle energy = 12.5ft/lbs at 60m/65yards downrange. Cheers. Russ

I ordered an FX Impact Mk II in .25 caliber in April. It came in May but that one must have skipped quality control as the magazine would not fit in the breech which was out of square by .040" top to bottom. I sent it back and still waiting for its replacement.

Always enjoyed your video's but I do find with my impact mk2 the magazine makes a lot of noise.177 pellets rattle when moving around also can double load ,if you change barrels which is quick i have to take quite a bit of time sorting out scope settings also power is lower, and if i fill above 200 bar pellets go higher i find AA 8.4 (4.52)are excellent out of 10 I would give it 7

Another fine video! I do have a question though, are those rabbits you have in the UK the same cotton tail rabbits we have here in the US? They've become quite a nuisance in our vegetable garden, and most days I can walk right up to within a few feet of them most places on the 40 acre farm with no real need for concealment. Thanks!

blimey Mat when you said the fx has a minimal stock I had to laugh, a trigger grip, a strip of plastic for a cheek piece and butt plate does not constitute a stock. but they still charge you for one. these stockless guns are ok but they need to re think the price minus the 2 to 300 pound stock that you would normally get on a rifle. bare bones action with additional addons is how they should advertise it. nice work on the rabbits Mat.

Like the impact compact but I keep hearing rumours of quality control issues and what a mess they’ve made of the new magazine. A gun primarily designed for hunting doesn’t need a fiddly, cart wheel of a magazine with such a high capacity. If you haven’t shot the magazine empty then it should be emptied because in the eyes of the law the gun is considered loaded even if the magazine is not actually in the rifle. The simple one piece smaller mag didn’t need improving but may be the sound suppression system does, Matt made a good point about comprising the length of a gun that’s unique feature is being so “compact”. For the moment I’ll probably hang on to my Wildcat FAC - not yet quite enough useful innovation to justify the additional outlay.
