Short answer: No. Its not an attack helicopter, rather a light-infantry support helicopter.

I see those almost every day in 2 different liverys: as ADAC rescuehelicopter and in the black colours of the bundeswehr as troop-heli. Some are equiped with MG6 gatlingguns

we used it very successfully as a red air platform at the national training center and the joint readiness training center, let's just say the OCs always had to call us to tell us to break station because we killed the units training so badly they got no value out of the rotation so we had to leave them alone.

cheap, light, multirole, carry up to ten men, and modern, what more could you ask for.

no defensive armament when carrying troops...Blackhawk seems way better IMO. Can do CSAR, CAS and transport even sling loading. And when carrying troops it can have two always active miniguns. If you want that in the H145 you simply can’t.

GORGEOUS helicopter!

I really like the idea of light platforms like these being pulled from industires that have their civilian model as well. The storage, maintenance and availability of them allows for a cost effective high readiness capability that other more specialzed platforms cannot provide.

This helicopter is essentially the next BO-105, light, agile and versatile and it has nice design

The ec145/bk117 was the next bo105. This is a transport/battlefield support ship at best with that "step on the pedal and wait" fenestron.

Looks more like a armed scout helicopter.

not really... the bo-105 was an attack heli too and this one is the direct succesor. it really comes to who adopts it and which role it plays.

@@joemama.556 I do partially agree with you. The H145M is the succesor to Bo105 in some cases. The Bo105 had multiple variants for different roles including scout- and attackhelicopter. I do agree that H145M is the succesor to some of these Bo105 variants including scouting and possibly some SR. The Bo 105 had attack variants (Bo 105 Pah's variants) that where equiped with heavy Atgm's (Hot1 and later Hot2). However the succesor to these attack helicopter variants of Bo 105 is defenitly Eurocopter Tiger. Unlike the H145M, the Eurocopter Tiger is equiped with heavy Atgm's (Hot3), just like the attack variant of the Bo 105. One of the essential roles of an attack helicopter is being an anti-tank vehicle. You could use H145M for some close airsupport but with only light pod rockets it will be hard to seriously fulfill this role. Maybe it is possible to replace the rocket pods with Atgm's. But I don't think the German military has enough reasons to put atgm's on the H145M and use as an attack helicopter while they have the Eurocopter Tiger that's far better suited attack role. So I still remain of the opinion that the H145M wil be in practice a scout and multirole helicopter instead of an attack helicopter.

@@loopdelooperlouis5541 I do agree, we have tigers here in spain (the most heavily armed one) and this heli would never substitute a tiger... in fact our prior attack heli was the bo-105 with a 20mm under belly cannon. I think at that time heavier attack helis were simply not as wide spread as they are now, so we just bought what we could afford. but yeah, I wouldnt switch our Tigers for these machines haha

@richtea78 it's based on the bk117. A joint venture between MBB (German) and kawasaki heavy industries (japan). The main rotor and control system is german. Kawasaki has constructed the gearbox and parts of the cell.

@@dabertl6788 it is based on a H135 and yes a BK117, most of the helicopter has been redesigned by Eurospatiale: Turbomeca turbine, new rotor, completely new avionic sytems, new tail rotor "fenestron"(fusionned with MBB at the time now EADS) that became Eurocopter now AIRBUS Helicopters. We can't deny the legacy of the BK117 but the helicopter it became nowadays is indeed due mainly to French engineering.

It is an Light Attack Helicopter. The Classic Attack Helicopter is a dead concept and the H145H is the best combination of an utility Helicopter and an attack Helicopter. People keep in mind that the times are over when helicopters can no longer be in contact with the enemy, which would require some armor. Every Russian helicopter falls as soon as even a Ukrainian "manpad" locks onto it. For the future, this means something like the H145M (with long-range guided missiles) and drones for the rest.

You can fit those weapon systems to any vehicle. What is needed to an attack helicopter is agility, size (shape), speed and payload. The H145 is very good at this, though compared to the BO105 its agility is a pot full glue because of the weight. Its a hell of a multipurpose helicopter and it will be even better with the five blade system.

Being an attack helicopter is not only about carrying weapons. It's also at least about protection from ground fire. What can an H145 offer in this regard, except maneuverability and terrain masking? That said, in my opinion, it's still one gorgeous machine. Very nicely shown in this video, by the way.

The Airbus H145M - is it an attack helicopter? No, if it was it would be called the AH145M

Why does it have an eotech?

the HAL Dhruv helo was based on the German Messerschmitt Bölkow Blohm-Kawasaki BKK 117 from the mid 1980s - 1990s, which we now know as the AIRBUS H145!!! but what you don't know is that the H145M attack helo variant is in turn based on the HAL Dhruv Mk 3 RUDRA multi role attack helo!!! Germans do know their helicopters well!!! the H145 M should be armed with a 25 MM GAU-23/ rotary gun (on full 360°deg rotating swivel) as the primary armament of the side door gunner in the H145 M attack helo!!! supplemented by a 12.7 MM or 7.62 X 51 MM LMG!!! new H145 M variants should have the option a remote (pilot/navigator) operated version of the side door mounted 25 MM GAU-23/E rotary cannon!!! a wheeled landing gear variant of the H145 & H145 M could be a game changer!!! the HAL Dhruv Mk 4 is a wheeled landing gear variant instead of the skids!!! it has been specially developed for the Indian Navy & Indian Coast Guard!!!

Great helicopter, maybe there is a civilian variant, very good product.

No, the Roots of the H145M are BO 105 -> BK 117 - > EC145 -> H145 Tiger an NH90 are fully new Constructiuons.

There is no such thing as a standard price per unit, it's not something you can go to the store and buy one. It really depends on how many, on what kind of equipment you want on them, on what kind of auxiliary items or services you require etc. All in all it should be fairly cheaper than other more specialized helicopters on the market. // The windows are obviously not bulletproof. The cabin, on the other hand, has ballistic protection ant the fuel tanks are self-sealing.

@@twanabaiz9516 Very-very few helicopters have bulletproof windows, and some of them only have certain parts of the windowed area bulletproof. Its not only that it is more expensive, but because it is very heavy or very difficult to manufacture on more exotic shapes (for rounded cockpits, for example). . More recently some manufacturers have begun to integrate some sort of lighter ceramic „glass” that can resist small arms fire.

Yeah, but they also have completely different roles. The littlebird is a survailance and small attack helicopter, the H145 is a multirole-helicopter. It's suited for ambulance and MEDIVAC-roles (thats what it's mostly used for) and it can carry soldiers to the field and than support them with it's rockets. So it's rather comparable with a Huey than with a Littlebird.

KAI Light Armed Helicopter (LAH) looks more dedicated

Payload size is too small for a proper attack helicopter but as a “multi mission helicopter” it serves its purpose

It can litteraly have the same payload as an attack helicopter. Rocketpods, gunpods and spike ER anti tank missile.

I see what you're saying and I think you are pretty much right. On the other hand, the platform can carry and fire a gun pod, can fire unguided rockets and should (by now) already have integrated an guided anti-armour missile capability. Also, in the near future there should be an anti-air missile capability as well. Is this enough 'militaristic' elements to make it an attack platform?

I just got interested in games to retrieve the feeling of the war I've been to even if it is a small amount of nostalgia... IAR 330 sau PUMA este o varianta de elicopter pe care am creat-o in proportie de 99% si sub egida Aerospatiale SA (Airbus eurocopter) dupa modelul SUPER PUMA sau H215 elicopter creat de Airbus helicopter (AIRBUS EUROCOPTER), sincer daca Airbus ar fi venit cu modele precum SUPER PUMA (H215) sau H225M atunci am fi cumparat fara sa mai stam sa ne uitam si la alte companii, dar cu un astfel de elicopter,poate pentru politie ar fi bun dar in nici-un caz pentru armata

Das ist der H145, der auch beim Bund als LUH145 SOF eingesetzt wird, hab den schon ein paar mal auf übung gesehen.

I work on Airbus helicopters. They're not military quality. I'm sure they'd be great in a pretend military, like Germany or some other European branch, but not in one that logs high flight hours.

Then please tell me why the national guard replaced their Hueys with EC 145 which they know call Lakotas and tell my why they achieved more flying hours per maintainence hour of all helicopters which are in service with the US army with an availability rate of over 90%.
