LYRICS:
And it starts
Sometime around midnight
Or at least that's when
You lose yourself
For a minute or two
As you stand
Under the bar lights
And the band plays some song
About forgetting yourself for a while
And the piano's this melancholy sound check
To her smile
And that white dress she's wearing
You haven't seen her
For a while
But you know
That she's watching
She's laughing, she's turning
She's holding her tonic like a crux
The room suddenly spinning
She walks up and asks how you are
So you can smell her perfume
You can see her lying naked in your arms
And so there's a change
In your emotions
And all of these memories come rushing
Like feral waves to your mind
Of the curl of your bodies
Like two perfect circles entwined
And you feel hopeless, and homeless
And lost in the haze
Of the wine
And she leaves
With someone you don't know
But she makes sure you saw her
She looks right at you and bolts
As she walks out the door
Your blood boiling
Your stomach in ropes
And when your friends say what is it
You look like you've seen a ghost
And you walk
Under the streetlights
And you're too drunk to notice
That everyone is staring at you
And you so care what you look like
The world is falling
Around you
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
And you know that she'll break you in two

I don't know about that. Human emotion is an incredibly awesome thing, oftentimes only fully appreciated in hindsight. Heartbreak is horrible in the moment, but my god does it make you feel more than you ever have. It's so weird that you feel like you could die, and yet those emotions are the most electrifying feeling.

Me too!!!! I first heard this song many years ago on the radio while driving through Houston and I was balling so bad that I had to pull my car over!! But, unfortunately they never said the name of the song or who it was by! So, that was it! I heard possibly the best love loss song ever written and I would never hear it again, which made me cry more. Fast forward to a few months ago and I was looking for the song Goodbye Horses from Silence Of The Lambs, but instead of the original song coming up first, it was a cover by some crazy named band I never heard of called The Airborne Toxic Event. With a band name like that I had to click on it and see how it was. To my absolute delight, their cover was, in my opinion, better than the original. So, I looked through the rest of their playlist and saw this song. It had millions of views so I clicked on it and was absolutely thrilled to find this song again!!!! I grew up in the late 70’s and all of the 80’s, the music I fell in love with back then was and still is spectacular! Even so, I have to say I do believe this is the best damn song ever written!!! Everything about it is perfectly achingly painful and absolutely brilliant!!!!

@@PeterNgolaI kinda get it. I'm soon to be 47 and have been married for 17 years. There are times I find myself missing those intense feelings from my youth that I haven't felt in so long. That said, I'm also aware that I'm simply romanticizing those feelings. Actually experiencing them is completely different. The mind does a fine job at blocking out traumatic feelings and pain. It's worse than you remember.

Get’s? Since the apostrophe marks ownership or a missing letter, I’m curious as to what you mean... Does “me everything” belong to “get”? Get cannot own anything as get is a verb. So I’m assuming get does not own me every time as ‘me everytime’ is not a noun and not able to be possessed. In that case the apostrophe must be to mark a missing letter. Get is me every time? Get us me every time? I’m confused. Gets* I’m also an absolute arse for this but if someone learns then it’s worth it . PEACE Banging song x

Forward months later and I'm at a random dive bar in downtown L.A. I'm there enjoying my drink when suddenly I look across the bar and see her staring at me, all the memories and emotions came back like a flood but I was strong enough to just leave my tip and walk away. That was right around the time I discovered this band. I'm in a really great relationship now that I see going to marriage and for life, but watching this video made me feel everything I did before. It's a strange feeling to love a song so much even though it makes you cry about something that happened so far in the past. I get to see these guys tomorrow night in Milwaukee. All of the good times and amazing experiences that I had with her... they wouldn't have been the same with any other person. She was the one who made me feel like the luckiest guy in the world whenever I was with her... She made me happy. She meant the world to me, and I loved her to the point where I did have to let her go. She had dreams and goals that she wanted to accomplish in life, and I knew that she wouldn't be able to fulfill them if she stayed with me... So I had to say goodbye. Maybe my life will be just fine without her. And who knows? Maybe we will meet again like you're saying. But until then, I'll keep the memories of her playing in my head as this song plays on repeat...

“You just have to see her, you just have to see her, you just have to see her.” That part gets me !! It comes down to that when you are absolutely CRAVING someone !! It’s all you can think of.

Sometimes a musical band scores a perfect hit, writes the perfect song, a marriage of words, chords, and emotions. But I just have to say this video completes the effect - it's so finely done - all the elements come together to make true excellence. This song really hits its target - goes straight to the heart.

This is the most unique song I've ever encountered . No chorus repeated over and over . It is a seamless journey from one thought to the next . And I'm loving how many people this can apply to . Isn't that that shit

The gradual increase in beat throughout the song until it crescendos is just like the knife being driven deeper & deeper until it's finally pulled out at the end. And you're left forever slow-drip bleeding. Not enough to kill you, but too much to live...

Almost 40 years ago my first true love broke my heart. I can still remember the pain I felt the first time I saw her with another guy. This song really captures the pain that you feel. The buildup is what makes the song.
