The Agony Of Divine Delay

This message is for anyone living in the agonising delay between tragedy striking and God intervening. It’s about the times in our lives when God seems absent, invisible, deaf, silent and indifferent to our pain and suffering.
Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Job and Jeremiah to name but a few have all endured the pain of apparent “PASSIVE OMNIPOTENCE” so you’re in good company.
This message is not for the faint hearted nor is it for those whose God is too fragile to be questioned or criticised by humanity.
Are you or is someone you know living in THE AGONY OF DIVINE DELAY… if so this for you.

A few years ago I heard this speech in person and I remember thinking it was irrelevant to my life because things wouldn't get better. I was never religious but my mum and I went to church every sunday for almost a year an this is the only speach I can remember. We were in a really dark place where I thought there was no escape. Looking back on it I know that this effected my life greatly and listening to it again got me really emotional. I dont know if I believe in god or not but I know that this marked the ending period of my issues. I know my mentality is better for hearing this so I guess I really just want to say thanks.

Pastor Paul, My wife and I walked away together from the mad rat race of money, stuff and more stuff to follow after him. One of the hardest things has been family and some Christian {Job's friends} people that we know that think we are crazy. As of now, we sit in the middle ground waiting for many new things and it has been very hard. This message was powerful and moving for us both so we thank you for your service to our Lord and to all of us. We will both be adding our prayers to yours for your little one that has been struggling with Leukemia. May God Bless you and your family at the end of your middle ground when it comes. Love in Him, from two servants waiting and wanting to serve.

This is the 2nd time I have used this word to encourage my own self. Revisiting enables us to learn new things from the same words.(Gods words are alive).

Hi Pastor! I'm from City Harvest Church Singapore, and I just want to thank you for this word of encouragement. Last year, I went through the darkest time of my life where I was caught in limbo and nothing in my life was moving. Your message was one of the many sermons that kept me going. The pain was indeed so real, and having someone who can give language to it made it easier to bear. I'm now in another season of delay, and this is the second time I'm listening to this message. Still encouraged by it, still ministered by it. Thank you so much pastor scanlon!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Paul for speaking up and speaking out about this zone, for the call to keep it real in our struggles whilst knowing and being held by God. Thank you again for challenging us that we can be comforters and not fixers. It is okay not to know, to be okay in saying at the same knowing the One who knows all things is in control, holding us. So inspired right now. Amen

He is truly gifted!! I Im so so sorry his grandchild is sick, I know that’s difficult .I am praying for that beautiful little girl he’s right we always want to fix ,I see that God has already answered his prayer ,he has comfort ,peace and joy ,even in the midst of his beautiful grandchild being sick ,that only came from God! He is absolutely correct you have to be so careful trying to Google something ,it’s a double edge sword ,a blessing or a curse. However I have solved many problems because I prayed to God lead me to the information ,and I Googled something and solved it!! For me I personally think the Internet is a miracle, again it’s how you use it.
