How do you feel about The Adventures Of Prince Achmed? How would you compare it to Lotte Reiniger's other films? Do you have a favourite Reiniger film? Which other films would you recommend for those who loved The Adventures Of Prince Achmed? Thanks for watching!

I watch it a couple of years ago and I just couldn't believe that this movie was made in 1926. Soon It will be a hundred years anniversary and it still looks like it was made in the eighties. It made me think about how the audience experienced the film after it came out. Today, this style of animation is done by Michel Ocelot (Kirikou is his masterpiece) so that the shadow animation is still very much alive and respected among today's audience.

It really does feel rather modern, doesn't it? It's so wonderful that Lotte Reiniger inspired close to a century of animation. I've heard of Kirikou but I haven't seen it, so I shall seek it out - thank you for watching and forthe recommendation!

Thank you. I just watched episode 11 of Babylon Berlin, season four. There was an amazing ode to this talented Director who was far ahead of her time.

I think so too, it really leaves an impact! I remember catching The Adventures Of Prince Achmed as a small child when it was played on Channel 4 (they used to do a highlight of animated works) and I had no idea what I was seeing, but I always remembered the shadow puppet impression! 😁

Besides Disney's Aladdin, this makes me think of The Thief of Bagdad (1940) directed by Michael Powell. I think it's a film worth watching for anyone who enjoys The Adventures of Prince Achmed.

@@YouHaveBeenWatchingFilms Don't forget that there are two great versions: the Douglas Fairbanks version from 1925 (I think) and the Sabu version from 1940. Both terrific.

I love Lotte Reiniger's The Adventures of Prince Achmed. I've got the BFI Blu-ray, which I think is its best presentation, and agree that it does not seem to be a nearly century-old film. Truly wonderful. It is the only Reiniger film that I've seen, but I have The Fairytale Stories on my wishlist.

The BFI blu-ray is gorgeous, isn't it! 😁 The Fairytale Stories DVD is wonderful too - while I wish they were restored into HD, it's such a fantastic wide-ranging collection of her other works in one place which makes for great comfort watching. 😊
