As someone who grew up without it, but eventually became a network engineer, I would say this lays it out pretty succinctly. Unfortunately, with all of these benefits come negatives and unintended consequences. `The Super Information Highway` is alive, but it has been corrupted into "The Super BS Highway." The trick now is not finding the information, but having the critical thinking skills to separate the `chaff from the wheat` so to speak. So, as a study tool, it's phenomenal, but you have to watch your sources. For online business, shopping, bill paying, it's fantastic, but you have to be incredibly secure. For social connection, it's brilliant, but you have to wade through a lot of crap. In the end, the benefits outweigh the consequences, but understanding those consequences will go a long way in avoiding them.
