Hi there! Welcome to The Happy Chicken Coop KZread Channel!
Today we are going to be talking about bantam chicken breeds!
That's right there are so called miniature chickens! These types of chickens are just as fun just wrapped in a smaller package.
The smaller package comes with some pros and cons though, so stay tuned!

Banties they were called back in my hillbilly days as a kid 50 years ago. Coolest little game birds. Masters of hiding their nests around the edges of the yard. It was like a big Easter egg hunt, awesome fun for a kid. lol Feisty little girls when they got all broody, put up a better fight than the roosters lol
We unknowingly purchased bantam chickens as baby chicks. They are so wonderful. They really are sociable with our baby ducks and like to be pet. So if you’re looking for chickens that don’t run away when you try to pet them, bantams are really nice and friendly.
The original Old Swedish breed are a natural minibreed. They don't come in a bigger size. Very beautiful and sweet!❤
Great timing on this video. We are about to go pick up our first bantam Cochin chicks today. Thanks so much for the informative video.

Glad it was helpful!
Just got myself a serama rooster for my flock, he's a silly little creature.
Thank you for the video/ information. I have two confirmed bantams & one other I'm not sure. Would it be possible for my bantam rooster to breed with a standard hen?

I was wondering the same. My bantams try, and try to mate with the bigger chickens. It's too funny, cause sometimes two of my bantams will be on top of one of my bigger hens. But, I don't think thir parts can reach places that they need to reach, if you know what I mean. 🤦♀️

@Michigan Girl That's how they get that chicken math going lol. My profile pic is of my oldest rooster. I think he's two months old, give or take a few weeks, and I believe it is of a Bantam rooster. But I'm not too sure.

Good question! So the answer is yes lol but it's not easy for them to do so. I personally have not seen or experienced it, but I found a thread for you here where someone was wondering the same thing: www.backyardchickens.com/threads/can-bantam-roosters-breed-with-standard-size-hens.514198/ So in the thread someone claimed yes you can, but it not "reliably".
Hey few months ago I hatched a few and one came out looking like that one of the vide at time 4:56 can some one tell me the more about it
👍🐓

Yes they do, my wife is Colombian, so when we went to Colombia we went to learn about the coffee farms and this one farm had a bunch of them! It's a pretty common breed over there lol
I had a tan Silkie rooster make a full size Rhode Island Red rooster go catatonic kicking his ass. All these rules are only guidelines for chickens. The same rooster was infatuated with a female heritage breed turky we had. He use to sit on her back when she was broody and nesting and look out for her.
Is there a way to get a adult Bantam rooster to be less afraid around you?

Hatch them yourself and keep them indoor first few weeks and they will bond with you from day one
I want to get minis ❤
Tractor Supply had bantams and you had to buy at least 4. So I got the 4, and they were supposed to be all females. So, just my luck they were all roosters. What's the chances of that, in the huge tub of baby chick's. 🤦♀️ So, now I have the 3 since the one died. Two of the 3 try to kill me every single day. I'm not scared of the little ones, unlike my giant, Jersey Giant rooster who tried to kill me. He's huge, and he attacked me, and thats all it took, and now I'm scared to death of him.
mini pigs are a bad comparison because they’re not real

so mini cows arent real?
from experience if you want the most annoying rooster get a serama roo - you will want to punt it to the moon.
