THE ACOLYTE Episode 6 REACTION!! Star Wars Breakdown & Review | Disney Plus | Qimir

Ойын-сауық

THAT ENDING SCENE…The Acolyte Episode 1x6 Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects
After the Sith Revealed in Acolyte Episode 5 with the Jedi Lightsaber fight scenes, we now hop into The Acolyte Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Spoiler Review, & Theories! In Episode 6 of "The Acolyte," titled "Teach/Corrupt," the story continues to unfold with Osha waking up in an unfamiliar cave on an "Unknown Planet," resembling the planet where Rey trained with Luke Skywalker. The episode reveals that Osha has been abducted by Qimir, who was once a Jedi "a long time ago.” The episode focuses on the interactions between Osha and Qimir as he attempts to persuade her to question the teachings of the Jedi Order. Qimir challenges Osha's beliefs about the Force and her role as a Jedi, suggesting that the Jedi abandoned her because of her unresolved emotions and the power she possesses. He offers her a choice to leave or stay with him, hinting at a deeper connection to her potential. Meanwhile, Sol is dealing with the aftermath of the previous episode's events, struggling to communicate with the Jedi Council and facing the consequences of his past actions. He also starts to suspect that Mae, who is pretending to be Osha, is not who she claims to be.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger, as Osha puts on Qimir's helmet, which is said to provide sensory deprivation and a connection to the Force. This act symbolizes her potential turn to the dark side and the growing influence of Qimir on her.
The cast features Amandla Stenberg as Mae, Lee Jung-jae as Master Sol, Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity from The Matrix) as Indara, Manny Jacinto as Qimir, Dafne Keen (X23 from Logan) as Jecki Lon,
Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar, Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya,
Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh, Joonas Suotamo as Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi. We just had the end of The Bad Batch Season 3, Tales Of The Empire, and now we await Star Wars: Dawn Of The Jedi, The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Star Wars: Lando, & perhaps more!

I think the mysteries are frustrating a lot of people, because we don't really know if it breaks canon yet or how. Also we don't know who to root for and who to hate, the Sith is presented as sexy and sympathetic, the jedi are presented as arrogant and flawed and we don't know how bad their crimes are - but could have resulted in the deaths of several women and lying to a child. So short answer - I don't know how to feel until the show answers more questions so I don't know if I love it or hate it to be honest. That aside, there are scenes that look cheap, there are scenes that are cringe-worthy and there are scenes that are absolutely badass. So overall it's not terrible to me, just kinda mid but with these budgets and with this franchise things should not be this mid. This episode gets a 6/10 from me, the previous one gets a 7 and episodes 1-4 are all around the 5/10 mark for me. Like not terrible but far from amazing. For balance - I absolutely love what Disney has done with animation but apart from Andor the live action shows dipped in quality after Mando season 2. I have no problem with women or brown people in Star-Wars, I just want better writing and direction.

In the novel "Star Wars: Darth Plagueis," it begins with a scene where Darth Plagueis and his master, Darth Tenebrous, are in a cavern filled with cortosis, sourrounded by giant rock cliffs, pristine beaches, and overlooking a vast northern sea. This planet is named Bal'demnic. I am 100% sure this is not a coincidence, and I am 99% certain that either Plagueis or Tenebrous will make an appearance in "The Acolyte" towards the end.

This might be simultaneously my favourite episode and least favourite episode. Every single thing with Osha and the Sith, here for it. The melodrama, the thinly veiled romance, the first performances that feel human, the exploration of the dark side from a sith, Manny's yoked ass traps, everything. Then there's the crap with the furball and Mae that i could really not give a single fuck about. Oh the droid is evil now so its red because thats the factory settings apparently. Sol is the only reason that storyline isnt something i just fast forwarded thru. And then theres the rest of the Jedi. I don't think i care at all. The thing is, i love the IDEAS. I love that the Jedi need to play politics, i love that they need to be imperfect to maintain their version of peace, i love that theyre willing to throw Sol under the bus to maintain everyone else. Jedi are supposed to emotion free, that means they are inherently utilitarian and i love the IDEA of that being the case. But also the way the show goes about doing that and exploring that idea, i couldnt care less about them

I feel like I'm watching a different show because to me the dialog was very well thought out. Hearing what Qimer was saying about the dark side and losing attachments and then cutting to Sol experience all this I thought was brilliant. I also think you guys missed that Sol obviously knew it was Mae all along and so him saying he would turn himself in and tell the truth was him setting Mae up to see her reaction. He knew she was about to try and stab him which is why he made her fly the ship.

I'd more intrigued to hear Star Wars experts like Michael speak on his elaborate theories about Qimir's past, his potential master, or the larger mysteries surrounding Sol or the Brendok coverup. Perhaps life circumstances of our beloved reactors may have affected this viewing experience. In that case, we give you our blessings. If not, the overwhelming negativity bias may be a product of succumbing to the herd mentality trend of critiquing the show, which would be unfortunate. In either case, I hope ep 7 viewing wouldn't continue this downward cyclic trend. Just my two cents. Cheers.

My theory from the start is that Sol is a master of the dark side and is the main villain of the Acolyte. It's well written because I thought it was obvious but almost everyone in videos and comments seem to love him because he's the "good guy". He reminds me of a certain Palpatin. May & Osha's birth seems to mirror a little to Anakin's birth (born without a father) as well as their importance with/to the force. I think this show's main point is to show that there is always two sides to every coin & that the jedi have history with falling blind to the rise of the dark side. I can write a book but I'll leave it at that.

I like watching the show, I have fun but it's definitely lacking in areas. It doesn't make me think of it as the high point of star wars but it also doesn't make me think, well I'm done with star wars. 🌪️ Lucas film has got a big problem on hand. They are trying to appease a fan base that is literally generations apart. You have fans that are very young all the way to as old as I am in my 50s. Writing stories to cover that complete age range is very hard to do. the best way to go about it is within the universe storylines for one group of the generation and create a separate group of stories for the older generation.

This episode was so intriguing yet so frustrating at the same time. I think they actually have a plan for where the franchise is going, but they're not really telling us. There are so many theories about what's really happening. Could Sol be on the dark side? Is Qimir Vernestra's former Padawan? Is he more than what he seems, perhaps Plagueis using Sith alchemy to disguise his true self? Or could Qimir be the first Ren? So many questions and no reveals it's all surface level stuff. I also wish they would make these episodes longer; we need more time for development. This show might have been better as a binge-watch. I think Dave's work is guiding the direction, but they're not giving us the clear, mapped out plan like the MCU.

The writers even said themselves they had no clue what they were going for at the time they were writing it. They absolutely just "winged" it. It's why there are so many lore-breaking elements in the Acolyte. I mean, its not even funny anymore, they ruined it for so many people and continue to call everyone that says anything a "racist review bomber". Disney's "plan" for Star Wars is more bad acting and, worse, more DEI/ESG nonsense forced down our throats. This whole show is a cringefest unlike any I've ever seen before. To quote Eric Weinstein, “If nothing else comes from this mountain of incomprehensible babble but [all time great saber fights and a cool new sith] then it will all be worth it.” Ok, maybe a paraphrase of his response to Terrence Howard but the point stands. There are at least two good things inside this mountain of maneur

I personally am loving this show. I'm typically not a fan of the standard high fantasy side preferring when tropes are done well or broken. Like new hope, love empire, hate everything else till Last Jedi, Rouge One and Andor. This though hits for me. Also I think a good representation of the Jedi at this time can be taken from a quote from Dragon Age Inquisition by Solas on organizations being inherently corrupt. "you think organizations to be inherently corrupt?" "Given enough time, yes. To survive an organization must devote resources to maintain itself. Those resources accumulate until the original purpose, no matter how pure, is lost." "You make the Seekers(Jedi) sound like a mindless beast." "A mindless beast, no matter how mindless, will die and give way to a successor. An organization is eternal. There are always corrupt Men who hoard power for their own gain and there are always honourable men who hoard power to fight them."

I think you two nailed the biggest issue I’m personally having. Nothing feels earned with these characters for me. After 6 episodes, I feel like I’ve learned nothing about Mae and Osha that isn’t surface level. What do these characters even really want? And why? In the span of a day, Osha is suddenly flirting (literally) with the dark side when she’s shown zero inclination of it before? And Mae seems like she wants something different every episode. I can’t even describe their individual personalities other than “ones kinda bad and one isn’t“. You can insert your personal rationalizations of why you assume the characters are doing things -- but the show does a really bad job of showing WHY they’re making the decisions they’re making. Feels like a perfect example of writers trying so hard to hit on themes and mystery that the characters became a total afterthought. Just my opinion though, not here to argue with anyone whose digging it.

I think I finally understand what I dislike about this show, Osha has no motivations. Why did she want to be a Jedi (after knowing them for a day instead of following the fellowship of the scissor)? Why did she quit the order? Why was she a meknit (or whatever)? Why would she want to become an acolyte?

Yeah, I think it's the 'mystery' format. There's a lot of focus on the Sith, but the main plot is probably SW twin stuff and balance and something about how they were created. That Yin/Yang stuff they had going as kids.

Many people say that ep3 may be one of the worst tv episodes, given such a large budget, in history. I would argue that this episode was worse. And wow, now we all know for a fact that Amandla Stenberg did not test for her characters, because if she did, she would not have been cast.

There’s an interview where Amandla (mae and osha) talks about how the show was literally made for her. She was picked for the role before there was a script. Extremely weird to me. Also the green lady is headlands partner and a huge character in the high republic books. I’m sure they were both picked because they were the best for the role

How did they think they were going to balance so many characters and story lines in 8 30 minute episodes? The weakest characters have been given the most time, and the strongest have been glossed over till now. WTF.
