I remember hearing that this story was based on a TTRPG campaign that headland wrote and DM'ed in the past. Knowing that, certain scenes feel like it: "You finally make your way through the thick forest... to find (Wookie Jedi).... but... HE'S BEEN KILLED!" "You hear a large group of your sisters, screaming above you... but you do not know what caused them to die..." Maybe it's just me, but the whole thing feels very D&D mystery... heck, there's even a potion shop!

Transformers: The Movie is a good example. For Hasbro, it was a “clearing of the decks” of all the G1 Autobots and Decepticons, not realizing that the show’s writers, which included comic greats like Marv Wolfman, infused so much character and personality that it became so much more than a “half hour toy commercial” for a segment of children and Optimus Prime became this moral compass on par with Superman. “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings” rung true with them. When he was killed off, it devastated a generation of kids and took Hasbro by surprise. The one saving grace is that Optimus went out in a way you’d expect him to. Unlike what happened to Luke, Han, and Leia.

I noticed that the trees weren't cut all the way through, they fell that way because they were still connected on that side. It still doesn't make sense but they at least gave an excuse besides rule of cool. I'm glad you pointed out the saber throw, that's a staple of the series and has existed since the beginning. Every single game has a saber throw. Force users are always shown using the force to pick up their lightsabers, it's just a force pull to make it go back to them once it hits the target.

I think you may be on to something with the "It's all a dream" prediction. Mother Anastasia (or whatever her name is) was shown to have "mind control" powers, so - as terrible as it would be - I can see the writers having the witches use this as a "this is what happens if you think you know more than we do". The witches died way too easily without any reason, and resetting everything right at the end allows the writers to get away with "not breaking canon", because the Sith never really returned. Also, it excuses any bad writing, because none of it had to make sense in the first place. Seeing so many of the "protected class" characters die, and knowing they referenced "Fight Club" as similar to what they ended up writing, leads me to believe that a reset of some type is a strong possibility.

All of the effects and action doesn’t matter if there’s no character building. We don’t care on a human level. My wife and I just watched Godzilla Minus One. She has never seen a Godzilla movie in her life. At the end of the film we were both crying and she was looking up Godzilla lore on her phone. That’s how you do it.

It's "slush pile" level writing that never should have seen the light of day. This is what happens when you hire people based on DEI instead of ability and talent. Not at all surprised. This touches on the larger issue of these companies being "infected" with woke ideology at the highest levels. The ONLY way you can fix this is by firing all of the people that have been hired to write woke stories. This, of course, will never happen. Not at Disney. Even if Disney just changes their policies, and tells their writers, directors, etc. to stop with the woke shenanigans, they still have a pile of untalented half-wits who don't know what they're doing. Disney is basically on a collision course with an iceberg, and they're too rigid (and stupid) to course correct.

It feels to me like this series was written backwards. The part about how the witches died should have been revealed early - with possibly one hanging mystery point to be revealed later - so that the character’s motivations would be clear the rest of the way.

Look at the showrunner. The majority of us not in showbusiness knew about Weinstien as far back as '97 with McGowan coming out and saying what kind of person he was. Everyone knew. This woman chose to go work for such a man. It's hard to project human values when you have none yourself. Scum rises to the top.

I can't agree this is the best episode. The insane, nonsensical decisions and ineptitude of the entire jedi team just made me want to tear my hair out. Plus the lore inconsistencies AGAIN... they're jedi, they're supposed to be able to block other force users attempts to push/pull them in combat. It's why we don't see it in the other movies. Yet here we are. I don't think it's better than the other episodes.
