Jeremy Jahns is right. I haven't been watching any Star Wars since Revenge of the Sith, I only ever watch people making KZread videos about Star Wars because I have neither the time nor the emotional investment to give it a watch at all. That way I have watched it by proxy and use my time to read or do whatever I find more enjoyable. Thanks for suffering for people like me, Adam.

The Acolyte is turning out to be intentionally hilarious and will launch a thousand bad acting memes. It's like the Star Wars version of "The Room".

I'm not actively watching the show, but after the halfway point I'm just going: "wtf did they spend that $180 million on?" Maybe it's in the latter half of the season (or they were preemptively building sets for season 2 with season 1 funding), but right now the most expensive stuff I'm seeing is maybe 1 or 2 set pieces and some costume design. That or they paid Carrie-Ann Moss an absolute mint to come on the show for the brief period we get to see her as a Jedi.

You're right, life is too short, it makes no sense watching this show unless you're reviewing them for a good laugh because the only people having fun in this show so far are those who get to play pretend in these huge expensive movie sets and get paid for it. You're essentially paying to watch someone else have fun.

I think that market (which is by no means infallible) has a way of hurting itself. It's times like this I am reminded, humanity has never really been better equipped for annihilating itself as it is now. Maybe a bit tangential but from the way people have reacted to a simple program (when criticism could be better reserved for genocide, homelessness, or political corruption), I see the attitudes and social positions as a confession that most people are useless when it comes to addressing their faults.

Myself, I am a fan who doesn't read the books, pays little to no attention to the cartoons and side stuff, but I know what Star Wars is. And the Acolyte is definitely NOT Star Wars. I was afraid to watch Solo because I want Han Solo the way he was. Don't mess with it. I'm glad they didnt screw that up too bad. If you are handed the reigns to make a Star Wars series THEN DON'T REWRITE THE LEGACY. It's just that simple. Don't rewrite what is already established and millions love. Don't preach at me. The people who made this garbage are not, never were, and have no intention of ever being Star Wars fans or creators. And THAT should piss you off even if you are a casual fan. Star Trek is cool. I like it. But it can't touch how I feel about Star Wars. Now if someone came along and changed Star Trek then that would bother me. Leave it alone. It's great AS IT IS. And minimizing people's justified reactions to this garbage is throwing gasoline on the fire.

LOL. Enjoying this series. Have I watched the show? No. Will I? No.

About the $180M, I've never heard anyone say it out loud, but in my opinion, that's clearly and without a doubt "hush money" to Headland, allegedly. The show was clearly allegedly filmed for $4 on an old abandoned set for "Bambi" the live-action. in my opinion.

@@AverageJoe483 I think there is pressure to be one of the group and to group-think. I also think a lot of the Star Wars hate is coming from the right-leaning conservative side of fandom. I find it hard to believe people actually hate this show. I'm enjoying it and i'm 52 years old I saw Han Solo shoot Greedo first when I was 5 years old in the movie theater in 1977. THIS show is good Star Wars. It aligns with George Lucas' message/goal of making movies/shows for 12 years old kids about to enter their adulthood and choosing between good and bad. This story is for little girls who don't want to be part of the group but want to venture off in their own selfish way. Do you not understand Star Wars? I bet you do not.

We've already seen this change with Yaddle in Tales of the Jedi. As for Kimiro, I think the same, I noticed that he might not want Mae, just as a textbook, but maybe something more. And as for Mae, since she found out that Oshie is alive and they saw her, her turn would make sense, it reminds me of Vader and Luke in episode 6.

Accounting for inflation, each of the prequels had a budget around $185 million. The Acolyte was around $180 million. I get that there’s more watch time in a series, but for the same price Disney could have created a film with a more focused plot (and make money from a theatrical release before dropping it on D+).

I have been watching out of morbid curiosity since Boba Fett, but the "Episode 4 of 'The Acolyte' is out" notification physically hurt me this week... That show is special.

My prediction for the next episode.. Zipper Face will either be revealed as the twins Mom.. which one .. ?? Probably white albino Maul. I’m thinking the twins kinda switch. OSHA will turn to the dark side. The fact it seemed she sees her sister Mae, as a murderer but all that rage is gonna cause some type of reaction .. there’s a clip in the trailer where I believe someone else has a red lightsaber.. either Zipper face dies and OSHA takes it or Zipper face has an extra and tosses it to OSHA .. a real twist of a twist..

I really do enjoy these rant reviews. Friendship ended with star wars. Now youtubers are my best friend.

The funniest scene was when they learned that the wookie lived in the forest, then few min later they all gather to look at the forest and say out loud that the wookie must be in the forest 😂 I just can’t believe how stupid it all is, my brain cells are dying watching this

This has been the plan since the prequels. Make a terrible movie and follow it up with a worse movie to make the previous one seem better. The fans will spend their money regardless of quality.

Nobody hates Star Wars like Disney employees. I guess good old Kathy Kennedy has a lot of bitterness towards George and Steven because she has basically destroyed everything LucasFilm's owns. Willow TV series was so bad, Disney removed it and they will never put that s@it on physical media.

It's a sad state of affairs when we consider that, in the grand scheme of things, an episode that (when you rip off the Star Wars skinsuit) is a lot of 'tell not show', character interactions/priority changes that make no sense and a damn cop-out cliffhanger is _an improvement_ over last week's episode?

more like the Alcoholyte cause the writers must had a lot to drink before writing theirs sad excuse for a script, definitely drunk, or at least i hope for their own sake as if they were sober when writing it they should seek new job cause writer ain't it for them.

Not really acolyte related, but adam did bring it up. I know we all wanted to see our favorite characters come back for one last hurrah as a hero. But lets face it, your past hero has been getting the senior discount for a hot minute. Logically, Their only function story wise is to pass the torch and/or die. For football fans thats like thinking we can win the big one if we could just lure joe montana out of retirement. Spoiler alert: you aint winning a damn thing, and montana is probably gone before the end of the 1st quarter due to a broken hip or some shit.

The first thing I thought when this ended was... ohh my god, I can't wait to get Adam's take on this shit!

'The Acolyte' = 'The Aco Bud Lyte' and just as the Bud Light execs chose to alienate core customers, 'The Acolyte' alienates core Star Wars fans and it's going to heavily damage Disney's stock price, market share, and long-term customer loyalty.

Could it be possible that if they did this under a different name as a Disney original Sci fi action adventure with better and different writing. Do you guys think it would have done better? Star Wars has it's own story, this isn't it.
