    Loot based on damage dealt would make the game even worse: the meta is already too focused on dps and this would make it even worse, especially for newcommers who won't have any options to compete with the DPS of high level players. Imagine trying to max one of your first characters and a fucking warrior keeps comming in the sprite worlds you do and make your dex drop rate 25% instead.

    I agree with most of this except the idea of more damage higher drop chance. My issue is that it would be even harder for new players to get into the game. This would only reward the players who have high-end gear and leave the little guys with nothing. At least that's how I see it.

    Little guys should not do high end dungeons with shit loot and expect the same reward. If a person with a LH set comes in with a t10 gear leecher. The former should have a higher loot chance as he has also has higher risk of losing his set (permadeath game). Better loot should give better gear or the game literally has a dog shit risk/reward system like it does right now.

    @@puppetmaskerr I agree leeching is an issue but I feel like there is a better work around then more damage higher drop chance. Because even if that t10 gear player hit the boss as many times as the LH gear player and risked their character just as much (if not more because lower survivability), they wouldn’t have done as much damage and would have a lower chance of getting better gear. A possible solution could be raising soul bound damage requirements to help get rid of leechers but either way I’m interested to see what the future holds for RotMG.

    @@syranium339 No but the t10 character loses way less than the stacked gear dude. Thus they risk less(bad gear) and get less reward(low droprate).

    @@puppetmaskerr But what happens when the LH gear char goes into lost halls and with the lower tier chars? The LH gear char does more damage and gets better gear so the lower tier people can't progress as much. In your first message you said little guys shouldn't do high end dungeons with shit loot but the big guys do lower end dungeons with higher end loot thus creating a power vacuum. I understand where your coming from but if done incorrectly I could see a lot of new/weak players just giving up.

    I think you’ve hit the mark on why this game, particularly to new players, feels like an absolute drag to play. Before Reconstruction, dungeons like DDocks and Abyss had an elegant simplicity to their design. The dungeon layouts, art, and shot patterns may not have been very complex, but this allowed the commonly farmed dungeons to achieve the perfect “simplistic and addictive” balance that you talk about. With such a balance, old content felt easily understood and exciting to new players while not feeling cumbersome to experienced players. A new player feels excitement at seeing new enemies in a new environment, while a veteran player doesn’t necessarily mind going through a dungeon that, while simple (but not boringly so), has an enticing reward. The core “fun factor” behind the gameplay of Realm’s new content seems to be shifting away from “loot/white bag euphoria,” and instead towards having fun in running the dungeon itself due to how intricate the new content can be. However, when the gameplay loop of realm itself is naturally based on farming *something* to progress (experience points, stat potions, fame, tiered loot, and white bags), it consequently feels more and more draining to farm an intricately designed dungeon (as opposed to a simplistic, yet addictive one) for the 100th time. Although being addicted to a game isn’t healthy, it was definitely one of the keystones to success in Rotmg’s original business model.

    Yeah I agree. RotMG does seem to have lost what made it so addicting in the first place. I was more likely to do an Abyss of Demons/the original Deadwater Docks then than I am at the moment.

    Heck, now that I think about it, I enjoyed the toxic sewers boss pre-construction more than I did post-reconstruction, even if the new version is technically more mechanically complex. The only dungeon that I think has gotten better in terms of replayability/farming would be sprite world, mostly because it's much easier to avoid those BS slows and trees from the ice minions that made me hate the original so much now.

    I mean I can sometimes now be really bored when playing realm, and I agree with you on almost everything. But I've played this game for 9 years. And you 10? I know people that have played the game for 1 year and have a super fun time. I think we might be to nostalgic to the times we were young and stupid playing this game in 2013 :)

    It takes now 4 harder to get UTS to forge, and I think even though you can get unlimited items if you have a blueprint players were always asking for it and now we got a trade in system for uts. We need to think about what we wanted years ago and look on what we got now. I think this community is somewhat blind to what they once asked about and what we now have.

    @@GleffRotmg everyone back then hated the game because of kabam but sucking off deca because they remake mid tier dungs isnt gona help either in the past 2 years i have not met a single player new or old that genuinely enjoys this game, the ogs are grinding for loot that their inner child once wanted so bad while the new players have to somehow get through this brick wall of a new player experience. the ONLY thing deca has done to help new players is add ancient ruins lmfao.

    The problems are plenty. The most notables: the lootboxes and the nexus market from the KABAM era! ●Spending 50 bucks on a skin you might not get? Put that for sale for $5. ● $10 for a t13 weapon or armor? Make it a bundle of 5x t13 for that amount. As long as its not an UT, it wont be Paytowin. ● Sell stat candies on nexus for people who cannot grind for 6 hours (people work, study, etc.) So new players dont think is a boring, grinding game. 2 types of stats candies on sale per week, on a rotating basis. Max purchase 15 (1 per class) a way to measure contribution on a boss battle like: ● top 5 damage gets better white drop rates, similar to top damage on O2 & O3. Besides top damage, add ● top healing (damage absorved). ●Create a loot formula for top damage. if high DPs classes, like wizards warriors are present, change the top damage formula like damage dealt minus 10% to give everyone a chance of top damage ● drop rate debuff should apply to those who got hurt during the fight, to base it on skill. All classes who get hit, get penalties on the formula. 10% on melees, 20% on daggers, 30% on robes. ● buff droprates on the formula for those who get a flawless fight (took no damage) ● Last hit bonus drop rate. Finally on the Fame issue, use the same method of DIABLO II . Monthly ladder reset. That will create competion. Only applicable on Realm dungeons, not key dungeons.

    @@SpencerCunt i can't exactly be considered a new player, but I am certainly not a veteran. I joined a year before exalt, played for a couple months and left until exalt came out. I have found that the forge is my lifeline. Although I am too much of a scrub to forge the red material gear, having easy access to lower level gear like experimental rings has made the game a lot better. I find that it is too easy for me to do glands dungeons, but I die the second I go into an exalt dungeon, with the exception of old shatters and cults because thats easy. For me, the game has turned into a tedious potion farm. Get potions, trade for life, mana, and tops, max a character, die to a fucking nest or some shit. I played during the free o3 week a while back and it was super fun. I died a few times and only got sb on two minibosses and never finished the actual oryx fight, but the dungeon was intense and fun. I would like to do more O3s, but I don't wanna wait in the o3 discord for an hour to get in a run. That is where the game is for me. I am stuck with o2 tops doing glands dungeons, O2s, and the occasional shatters or cult or fungal. I think if Deca is going to stress the endgame, they should make potion farming easier, or more preferably, as you said in the video, add more to the realm. The namesake of the game is the most boring part. We all rush to find dungeons or kill realm bosses to get out of the realm as soon as possible.

    As a new player, the idea of exalting is amazing but it's absolutely shit to have to join discords that rely on people buying keys to run dungeons. The game literally lives off mtx and it's been a big turn off for me lately

    I remember having the full mad lab set and people said to me "how did you get that??". Now every noob can forge that set out of anything. I also think that the access to ut's has become easier than ever. For example, if someone got a jugg blueprint, which ive gotten 2 of, he can forge 5 of these just with couple stingers and fungal plates. And honestly, it really downgrades the appreciation of getting an actuall jugg from sphinx or hermit. These kind of items should be wayy harder to forge. Giving 100 forgefire per day would be better and even balancing the material cost of each legendary item depending on how rare and good it is.

    intentions were clear from the very start. The first thing they did when they bought this game was put a fucking cdirk and ogmur in a chest event. It's just a pump and dump. Whole community will not play outside of events and now the events are a drag to play through so now what.

    I sort of agree with you, I have about 7 years playing. I honestly really enjoy exalt and the new dungeons and I think the forge was a nice idea to keep mid level and new players hopeful and excited to grind so they can get the items they want that others have spent 10 years grinding for and never gotten. Why do you think there are so many hackers in this game? The permadeath is great but the grinding is too severe for a game that is centered on that mechanic. I too hate how much work the campaigns require. I have a full time job, a wife and a kid and I’ve had to completely sacrifice sleep so I could do this campaign, have 10k points left to grind in 7 days and now I need another 10k in crystals to make the colo bp. It’s just too much.

    Since 2020 I've introduced 4 new players to the game and only 1 of them still plays and its only semi consistently. I no longer play the game I can't even be bothered to log in to get the daily rewards. I think that before exalt playing without discords was perfect and that the introduction of discords made the game have to adapt to this new way of farming dungeons. I'm not saying discords are bad I'm just saying that they introduced a new way to get the items and not really have to work for them which made the items no longer that rare. The game tried to adapt to it but when it did it made it very hard for new players to be able to get the top tier of loot without the discords and probably increased some people dependence on them. Another thing that is annoying is how much content is in the game it used to be very straightforward what the best gear was for each class and what items worked in conjunction to be able to get the most damage or survive-ability but with partial ST set bonuses and many new items it becomes harder to find that top tier equipment that you have without going straight to the very best items in the game. Also implementing the loot based on the amount of damage you do is very unfriendly to new players as it means, especially for the dungeons with the best loot, that the players who have beaten it before will be everything and new players will struggle to progress past a certain point. I think in order to get players back to the game the forge needs to be scrapped as it just means that you don't have to try to get white bags anymore and I don't know if UT trading is the best way around it whilst all of these hackers can do 100% damage from across the map to most bosses means that they are the only ones who can get the loot. To combat this maybe bosses should only activate for you if you are in a certain range so the boss if it is 20 tiles away from you will not take any damage from you but will still take damage from other people. Duping needs to be stopped or at least limited before UT trading comes out or certain items are going to be so cheap. Sorry about typing all this its just that I really want to get back into the game but with the current state of the game it just feels pointless.

    Yeah a little bit problem is that when u dont have any friends or consistent guild to farm hardest dungeons like shatters or idk, lost halls arent impossible to play without discord (old player idk about new dungs)

    Duping has been stopped for a LONG ass time now, trust me, if there was a duping method still running I'd be the first to know. What you're seeing is the remnants of the duping era. Those that were able to make mules and stash them with a bunch of UTs back when duping was a thing. That's actually what's happened, you're just seeing those accounts selling.

    I didn't have time to watch past 6 minutes BUT here's my 2 cents. I've been playing for about a decade now and the forge, hp scaling, IC/OOC, and exalt ruined this game for me. I'm not afraid to admit, im 20 and i'm already starting to become a bit of a boomer. I preferred it when white bags were special, I preferred it when I had consistent healing without having to back up so much, I preferred speedrunning dungeons, and I preferred the look and the design of flash over exalt. I know switching off of flash wasn't really their choice but come on the item sprites in your inventory are STILL off center and trash. Game just isn't what it used to be.

    Forge ruined the game? Dude I’ve gotten a c-Dirk once in over 9 years of active play. I’ll die on that hill the forge is wonderful cause you shouldn’t be grinding thousands of event gods to get one. The fact you need so much items to spend to just get one item back form forge is also wonderful too.

    @@HyeperionGaming Meh I think it's fine that blueprints are kinda rare, if you have it you can craft an item forever. What the real problem is is that DECA brought out the forge to replace UT trading wich seemed like a really good idea, but they are reintroducing UT trading with motmg so the forge system won't make sense if it comes out. I get that the forge is a permanent thing in the vault wich you can use 24/7 instead of only a month but this is just plain stupid to me.

    I don't really like Realm anymore because of how much you have to grind now. And the amount of debuffs you face in the end game dungeons suck and there's no easy way to deal with them besides being great at dodging. Everything is stressful, bosses kill in 3 hits, lag, every minion has debuff inflicts, nerfed sets/items. There's not much of a payoff, for all the stress. I wish I could play it and be more relaxed with my characters instead of being worried every second about losing all progress. Maybe the games just not for me anymore than it being as bad I think about it.

    I agree with almost everything. There is one thing that anoys me the most, and it's that endgame content is pretty much inaccessible to people who play this game casually. Like fr I don't want to be forced to join a discord just to do an O3.

    imo 03 is the easiest to access of the endgame content, go to USW4 (the trading server) and enter the full realms, there's a dedicated community of people who like popping public 03s, you just have to get a lil lucky, even yesterday I was in 4 realms total and one of them had a free, pub 03, try not to crash private runs, but I promise there are lots of free pub runs to practice!!

    lil trick for you for ez o3s just go to any realm you can find with like 20-30 remaining and start clearing shit, this is a lot easier if you got like 1 or 2 friends, eventually someone will come into the realm and ask if its taken just completely ignore them and stay there boom all of a sudden 30 turbo virgins who do nothing but o3 for 18 hours a day will show up and clear the rest of the realm for you and they'll even bring the runes and dps because they are that nice!

    i think godlands are fine id personally prefer they remove some ents and add new events in their place that are interesting and have some cool rare drops dont even care if the events drop a dungeon. Another idea me and a friend had a few years back was they just create a 2nd realm from scratch and when you go into a realm theres a chance its the old realm or new one.

    My problem with realm is that end-game content is locked behind whether or not you've joined a discord. Things like o3 are so hard to get into because the opening relics are so rare, and even if you do try discord at that point, you get stuck waiting to get into a world that's completely overfilled. Even if you get in at that point, you don't need to learn the content very well because there are so many people to just follow, steam-roll with 10-s phases, and heal. Meanwhile it's harder to learn and actually run in smaller groups when the relics are so inaccessible or for some other dungeons kinda like old shatters, if one person in public doesn't know how to do that dungeon, it ruins it for everybody. And other dungeons that are more accessible like lost halls, people just never run because they take so damn long

    I think one big issue with having dps = loot chance is it will really discourages teamwork. The game has important support classes that will fall by the wayside - why bring a priest to keep your group alive, or a knight to help disable the boss for them, when they’re all bringing wizards and “stealing” your loot chance?

    dps =/= loot... this is the biggest misunderstanding new players have... soulbound damage is just hitting the boss a handful of times, regardless of what class you are playing. if you are running a 4/4 set you don’t get more loot than someone running t12 gear

    Also in regards to hp scaling, currently the perfect middleground of number of players you can get in a dungeon is about 30-35, i think exponential scaling up until that point and then linear past that point would honestly be perfect

    One thing I literally cannot stand about rotmg is how unbearable to the maxing process is to make new characters. I’ve been playing for 9 years I cannot stand needing 30+ pots of a single stat on top of needing that for multiple stats. This is also a thing too. Why are the end game dungeons so heavily gate kept? Also why are t13 t14 weapons and armor soul bound? Why is over half the items soup bound

    this is not the game for u. maxing is an important process but i guess u just want to play multiplayer touhou. go play a non permadeath mmo. its funny because maxing doesnt even mean anything anymore. but apparently u played 9 years and u still havent noticed that? u must really suck

    I was kinda on the fence with your argument for a while because I personally don’t like just pressing the slot machine button and getting reward, having a grind makes it still rewarding. But like you said for some dungeons that’s grind for one press is too long for what you are really rolling for. Abyss for example still takes a long time but offers less now due to demon blade being lost to power creep and the removal of the guaranteed def pot etc. Only some dungeons have it balanced correctly. For the forge I initially thought it was a great idea as i’m a player who doesn’t have much time on my hands. And the idea of unlocking the blueprint i wanted after a long grind seemed nice. It took about 3 weeks to get my first blueprint which happened to be the item i wanted. But after that I get like 3 Para blueprints in one day making it feel like i didn’t really earn anything with the blueprint since it seemed like the drop rate was just in my favor. Forge could be better if blueprints gave less items or were insanely low drop rate. it’s still a trade off of 3-4 white bags, but although i haven’t seen the full issue of it yet since i picked the game back up; I see where other people are coming from with it’s issues removing the dopamine of the actual drop.

    they should 100% market and cater towards new players and remake the whole realm again and focus on duping so we can trade uts or make a ut market because a ut market would also make people feel good since you can feel like a kingpin after making fat trades.

    I think forging really made the game worse. Everything is so much less valued now its insane. Part of the game is grinding for an item you want. And if you don't get an item within a certain amount of dungeons which was why forging was created, then Deca should make it that your rates increase every certain amount of dungeons and so on.

    @@edcaous Wis and vit are the most annoying stats to get right now, theres no guarantee drop from any exaltation dungeon for either, they don't drop from gods, and they don't drop in I believe 2 glands dungeon.

    I agree with a lot in this video. No item is special anymore due to power creep and forge. The damage is already done with that and might be irreversible. Also making the dungeons more tedious to do while giving a lot more loot than before combined with the forge makes running not very rewarding and boring after a while. Combined with having to max classes by running the same dungeon over and over is unbearable. Lastly the game being uninteresting for new players is a problem that has existed the whole time deca has had the game. The retention rate is terrible due to obsolete early game and the gatekeeping of endgame content through a terrible hp scaling and keys. One thing I disagree with is o3 hitting the mark. In fact I think it is the most problematic in all aspects above.

    Anyone here from summer 2012 wildshadow days? I literally only heard of this game because my friend was playing it in the school library during break and after school. Here I am a decade later reminiscing on a game that brought joy throughout my adolescent years, when the only thing I would worry about in life was getting that death screen.     For me, I hated the pet update, as someone who spent a lot of money and time in getting a pet to 100/100/90, and just wanting to play the game alone going for lost halls /shatters speedruns, it's annoying that it's just not as good anymore. It sort of feels like a scam; despite everyone else, pets are being proportionally nerfed as well. I also hate the new dungeon updates. The entire economy is also fucking; everyone is just farming end game dungeons and has tons of life pots, which is quite sad, given how rare it used to be. I just miss farming abysses, hah

    The forge ruined the game for me, personally, took all the fun out of getting whites. its fun to improve and get better at the game, but there isnt *that* much challenging stuff in the game to do, relative to how difficult some items were to get in the past, and not anymore.

    @@yms6892 The rarity of those items is a bigger problem than forge ever has been. Why do you think event whites had such insanely low droprates when they were made? Because there was a player marketplace where you could trade for them. Now because that doesn't exist, they need to be made more accessible so people aren't waiting literal YEARS between drops for an item they could lose to 0.5 seconds of lag. All elitist people like you want to do is flex your items you already have, instead of actually considering game balance/other people's enjoyment.

    This is just a common thing that happens to like gacha mobile games, except that audience actually gets new games to hop over to. When you've been milked for your money so much and the company just keeps making everything more accessible and less unique to paying players and keeps adding more and more way for you to pay them it gets exhausting. The way they handled the UT forge and made it essentially a fear of missing out microtransaction system that ruined white bags for me.

    Also lets be honest here. UT trading is going to be a disaster because of duping (which DECA is STILL not adressing) Also rotmg's cheating problem is actually massive because it heavily limits what changes can come to the game. Like you obviously have some pretty great ideas for the game, but literally all of them are ruined by cheaters. Literally all DECA can do is bring out more limited events and make more super challenging dungeons because if they actually made quality of life patches cheaters could just abuse the hell out of it

    I started when UTs were still tradeble. I stopped a little before exalt came in with breaks in between ofc. Tbh, near 2015 i thought and still think now that gold to buy slots is the worst aspect of the game and prevents it from growing, as most of the content of major games now is free and base themselves off of other micro transactions. Since the beginning of the game, new players have only a single character slot and a single vault chest, and they gotta wait for free character slots from monthly rewards or farm rewards which prevents access to class content. Another problem is that before, you could access the hardest dungeons and bosses with old tops (pre o3) or even items less than t8/t9. Now, new players cant do jack shit. The hardest content could have been done in small groups or soloed, even as an intermediate player. Now, you have to enter discords to understand the dungeon mechanics before doing that. Obviously not new-player-friendly. Dungeons and in general all the content should be more accessible to everyone, not just popped with paid keys in discords and not just dropped once in a realm. I definetly agree that realms need a major rework, and moreover accessibility to content should be improved in general. These changes imo should be done to remove the player-base cap, and maybe to bring me back, not to say that im relevant. If UT trading is coming back, imo thats great bc it reduces the slot machine aspect of Realm that you talked about.

    One of the biggest problems for new players is definitely that pots in God land dungeons are only guaranteed if you solo/duo. It doesn't help them strengthen their chars, to then learn the dungeon better and actually be able to run it solo

    I've invited many many new players to realm, and 90% of them die in their first snake pit, and also die once3 or more gods show up on screen, so once they have T8 gear they just sorta get stuck cause they can't handle the dungeons for farming pots, but also have no way to improve

    I agree with you on how reconstruction has kind of had the opposite effect it was meant to. The dungeon was meant to be enhanced, but instead, because DECA decided reconstructed = at least 3x as hard, these dungeons became tedious and scary and not enjoyable to farm for what they're worth. I think reconstruction doesn't have to mean that the dungeons get so much harder but that sprite work and graphics and the dungeon itself is enhanced.

    if anything, trying to do the other dungeons for a tiny chance (assuming you're in a group) at a single pot is unbelievably tedious (sewers and puppets come to mind). Especially those drawn out bossfights. Wlab's are rushed fast, the bossfight is fun, and incredibly generous with it's potions (possible 4 ATK/VIT per dungeon). Cdepths is similar assuming a rusher, but clearing is actually fairly enjoyable for me as well.

    It depends. Some reconstructed dungeons are far easier, like snake pit, but overall, the time it takes to do them has increased. It's not about difficulty (because RotMG thrives on being punishing), it's about length.

    O3 ain't all that perfectly balanced, because it drops so many glife and gmana pots. We all know that life and mana have significantly lost value and the market is low key broken. I think it would be cooler if minibosses only dropped single life/mana pots, not greater. Or they dropped def or speed or something.

    Having damage-based loot chance would work in direct opposition to making the new players' experience better. Giving loot to DPS-meta veteran players at newer players' expense is the exact opposite of what the game needs. As for making the game less of a drag to play, there should be an easier way to access court of Oryx boss dungeons that isn't an ultimatum between a fun, quick boss fight or the best loot in the game. HTT and the other court dungeons are exactly what you mentioned: quick, fun, with cool drops, but nobody does them because doing them means you miss out on O3.

    I actually get more enjoyment from whitebags these days, because if I get one that I don't want, over time I can trade it in for something I do want. I never feel crushed by getting my 10th cult ring anymore when grinding for the staff, since I can trade a few in for a diplo or something once I gather enough material As far as dungeon reworks go, I think they're great honestly. Completely disagree that the new abyss is harder. It's significantly easier to manoeuvre and navigate, and it's not such a winding mess. There's more room to dodge as well. Also, there's been a big shift from good gear = skill, to skill = skill No one cares about good items anymore, but people mainly respect players who are legit, and who can really play well. Honestly, I think that's quite healthy for the game but this is definitely coming from an endgame perspective.

    ive played this game for like 8 years and i still feel like a new player lmao. best character ive had is 6/8, never beaten o3 or a lost halls. going from that position to an endgame one is very difficult as it is, but if white bag chance was based on how much damage you deal then people in that position with worse items can barely get anything at all. i think deca should concentrate on creating a smooth and welcoming progression from being a new player to becoming an endgame one

    Imo forge is single handedly ruining the game. I think forge should be removed entirely, anyone who has unused forge fire that they boguht should be compensated back in gold, and we move on. This will never happen

    Its frustrating because I do like a lot of the new stuff, but all of your points make sense. I've been playing on and off since 2012, and I love the redesigns, most of the new dungeons and I liked the idea of the forge a lot. But with UT trading coming up its just going to feel strange having the ability to craft UTs to get shit tons of life/mana/loot. Maybe they could implement a different class or tier of the crafted items that are less powerful or useful than those you get from dungeons or events. Idk, I just hope whatever they end up doing can keep me interested.

    I think forge would be better if it wasn't so dang easy to forge stuff. It makes people who grind 100 of the dungeon feel like shit, and it makes people who log in once a day to cash in marks and fungal whites to get a divinity feel underwhelmed. Now you only have to do O3 2 times to get enough marks to get an endgame item, which doesn't feel right at all. If the forge required the amount of dungeon completions to get one white back (like how O3 has a roughly 1/25 white drop rate according to a raider I asked one time) getting 25 exalted oryx marks would fit for people who gets cucked by RNG, since they can now have the 1/25 white ratio that everyone else seems to have. Stackable marks would make this even more smooth as well. I know no-one wants to do 25 O3s for every white bag from forge, but at least you'd be working for it as hard as everyone else. And those who grind for the actual white drops are still rewarded fairly. Something else that would be cool are other leaderboards that are actively moderated. Imagine getting the world record snake pit on the realm leaderboard, only to be beaten by a hacker, and then the hacker gets whiped off the leaderboard. It gives people something to work for beyond tediously grinding o3 for exalts and a big o3 pet skin, and lets people compete with each other for actual glory. It would be cool to see the community come up with new strats just to out-do each other, and not be undermined by hackers on the fame leaderboards. I also feel like moderation in general is really bad. It would be nice to see trusted players volunteer as realm mods to do more deca-to-player experiences. Closest thing we've gotten was a support ticket page on their website, and dungeon popping events where you see the devs in game. Having more faces volunteering to ban hackers and mute annoyances could go a long way for the game. Funniest thing as well, is deca wouldn't even need to pay them. In runescape there are countless trusted mods, and only one case about a mod exploiting their position. With so many people actively ruining the game with exploits, I'd rather have one bad mod than thousands of people PVPing in O3 with death aura. Overall, I agree it sucks to see rotmg looking like this. Deca could do a fair bit better, and I appreciate the effort they put into new fresh dungeons and features. The game really could be so much fun if a few things were fixed, or if a few dungeons were fun and rewarding. For now, we'll just have to see what hapens after motmg.

    I 100% agree that the grind has gotten very boring because of the time commitment needed. I was adicted to the game from last summer till about january ish then i took a few months break and cant seem to get back into it with needing discords and a decent group to actually do the things I want to do. as you said the realm is boring and that is so true because there is nothing to do in it to begin with other than farm pots which I never need bc i dont die LOL. besides that almost every point you made is valid and deca needs to not make the game supper hard, they need it to be doable so that people actually enjoy it. It goes back to that risk vs reward aspect, if the risk is higher than the reward no one will do it. spener your the GOAT keep it up bro, and IDK if realm will bring me back we will see about the crown BP in motmg.     I miss wanting to play this game, I would play this game 24/7 10 years ago, I tried returning this year and was unable to make any progress farming, id spend hours and hours just trying to get through "easy" dungeons. Without the new endgame items it was way to difficult to farm at a reasonable speed. Disappointed 😞

    This is so accurate. I never realized that the game was just less and less fun then it used to be. I thought it was because of discords, and it partially could be, but the risk/reward system in this game is just so out of balance. The permadeath model we have is what gives the game its PUNCH its what make victory over even the smallest of hurdles feel so good. I think the best thing this game could have is a system that rewards dealing more damage with white bag chance. Obviously hacking needs to be addressed before this, and then taken very seriously after it, but having some way to reward you for risking it again and again and again would breathe new life into the game. I think exaltations were meant to accomplish this but they're too far out of reach and too grindy to feel worth it. When I see someone with an exalted skin or an exalted pet skin it gives me the same feeling as seeing someone with a jug or an omni back before everyone had all the items. I think the first step in all this is more communication from them. We want to know what your priorities are so we can tell you how we feel about the game. We have a super active community who is constantly sharing their thoughts about the game. They're so interactive in other ways with public testing and twitch streams but they just wont tell us what they're working on and it baffles me. This is such a brilliant discussion about this game's design over its entire life span and I think anyone who is interested in realm would benefit from watching it.

    Coming from a completely different perspective and different wish from the game, the game still sucks. I dont care about grinding white bags, i dont care about fame, i dont care about steamrolling, none of that at all. All i care about is playing the hard dungeons (prefferably solo), dodging, and maybe getting the loot after i put in all the hard work myself. Now, this is great and all, i play the game for fun, i dont fall under any of the issues you brought up in the video... right? If it wasnt for the frameskips and lag... (which for the entirety of my realm career ive heard hacking fixed it) deleting my work with no fault of my own, if it wasnt for dcs such as in the crystal cavern portal, which dcs, i shit you not, 7/10 times (ITS MY FAVORITE FUCKING DUNGEON BEHIND O3), if it wasnt for all the fun content being put behind unreasonable grind walls for a player who wants to solo most of these dungeons, FUCKING O3 RUNES, FUCKING CLEARING THE WHOLE REALM, SERVER HOPPING TO FIND THE EVENT, CLEARING TO THE BOSS FOR 1 HOUR (NEW FUCKING SHATS THIS DUNGEON IS STUPID) just to die to one mistake. Im fine with dying, ok? But i dont want to spend time on all of that worthless shit just to die, if you want to play the game as a solo bullethell FOR FUN, you spend the majority of the time doing jack shit, clearing realms for events, hopping realms, clearing for runes, clearing to the boss of those dungeons, god forbid if you even get crashed pfffff. All of that, and i get to pray i dont get dced or frameskipped into the character select screen, and if all goes right, i dodge in a bossfight for 10 total minutes, WOWEEE! And deca wont care about me because i happen to be playing a pixel game on a laptop, WHICH WAS PERFECTLY CAPABLE OF HANDLING IT ON FLASH. But it will repeat again, we all courageously rally under one force to get deca to do something... Then deca does one thing, releases a new shiny toy and letter to the players with (mostly) fake promises, and we forget it all until 4 months later when the same thing happens. I understand im being pretty extreme in my judgement here, yes deca does do a good part of the things they promise eventually, yes they do sometimes acknowledge issues and communicate, but it still doesnt change the fact as a solo player the game is absolutely terrible and a waste of time, without even taking into account the many technical shortcomings as well.

    The only thing that really matters in this game is just endgame dungeons and it just gets boring to do them over and over and over

    I agree with everything u said lol, but I also hate cheap insta kills from non boss enemies like lancers in o3, o3 portals, some cult enemies. It's not fun to instantly die from something when u are concentrating on a fun boss fight. I'm fine with minions but ones that have an insta kill burst suck. It just makes leech players thrive.

    I think they should rework the low-highlands because at the moment there isn't really anything rewarding about sitting there for more than like 10 levels, and none of it is really hard including Godlands. Like say you're a new player and you go through the low lands, there's no real point because the attacks are too simple and so easy to kill even with t0 items. Just what I think

    Even though the hp scaling is largely regarded as a good thing, all it's done is make the community more toxic. It's encouraging people to only bring 20-30 people for optimal hp scaling so they can accomplish what they used to with 100 people-steamrolling. Oryx 3 with 20 people becomes so easy that a new player could do it on their first try, it's practically a joke. Every phase gets insta-staggered/guarded and heavens is skipped 90% of the time. Only thing to slightly worry about is celestial, but that isn't even too hard.

    I miss how much more broken the game was tbh. 150 people in a parasite chambers while 200 sat in nexus waiting for the next one was some of the most funny and enjoyable moments I've had in this game. Huge mega lag spikes that killed hundreds at once or Killed the server always had me laughing looking back at it. A more toxic fanbase, people making racial slurs out of chat bubbles and other offensive shit. I'm no racist but damn this game had some character .

    I actually disagree with A LOT of the ideas presented in this, but I can't deny that the game is less addicting that before. Also, most reconstructed dungeons aren't "more intricate" or anything. You're right in that they're less enjoyable to farm, but the problem isn't intricacy, or difficulty, but of power creep and certain design choices. With the addition of greater potions in the drop pool of the three epic dungeons, there's no point in doing Abysses; vitality is easily the least impactful status effect, and you can farm them faster with woodland labryinth (which is actually easier to rush, has two useful white bag drops, and will max you faster) This can be solved by buffing dblade (or adding another white bag drop that's actually useful), making treasure rooms more common, and shortening the dungeon, whether by making the enemies easier to deal with or shortening the amount of rooms overall,

    Okay, everyone is giving their opinions so I'll give mine too. As a player who's been playing for 8 years I am very happy and extremely excited for where this game is going now. Sure, there are some things I would go without, and I really disliked the seemingly blatant greed DECA was showing with their campaign and boxes, but if it means we get a better game then it's for the greater good. Here have been my thoughts about the state of RotMG: -I thought Vital Combat update was phenomenal. It finally gave DEF and extra use, if minimal, and gave VIT the well deserved niche it needed alongside the other stats. -I didn't enjoy the exaltations update, but that's only because I only play PPEs or other challenges. I don't max characters from level 1 0/8 to level 20 8/8 without doing a single bit of content anymore. That to me is a very boring way to play. -I like the more difficult endgame dungeons a lot, and O3 and the new shatters have such a unique difficulty I haven't experience in Realm before, but it seems like all games are going difficult and I don't agree with that at all. I miss the grind where I could do 30 sprites/snakes in an hour. There needs to be more of a midgame and earlygame, but with most of the playerbase being stacked this is not financially viable for DECA. -I thought the forge was great. I hated it at first, but that's only because I didn't know how to use it in a way I enjoyed. Like I said, I only play PPEs, so I only use the forge to craft items that my PPEs need with items and white bags I looted on that PPE itself. This makes every white bag exciting, because if I didn't get an item I wanted I knew I would be getting forge progress towards an item I wanted. However, I think the forge should've been done in a different way, but that's too long of a topic for me to go into. I created a dungeon concept a long time ago that had a similar idea to the forge, I'll link it down below if you want to see it. -I like that there are new classes. Not much to say about this, more classes to play means more novelty and new UTs! -There are too many ST items now. I would treat STs a whole lot differently, but that's too long of a topic as well. Basically, there are too many and they don't really have a place in the balance. Some STs are better than UTs, some are far far worse. Some sets are insanely good, some are completely terrible. There needs to be more balance. In conclusion, I play RotMG in the way that I enjoy. I had a serious addiction to this game as a teen. It took some terrible circumstances for me to take a step back and realize the addiction. After that epiphany I started playing the game the way I wanted, not the way my monkey brain wanted lol. If everyone learned to play the game in a more enriching and humbling way, where we aren't speedrunning things or competing with friends for loot and best gearsets, then I think we'd all enjoy it more :D Anyways, here are the reddit links to my dungeon concept I made about 1+ year ago. Check out the idea for the forge if you want, but this isn't an advertisement so it's okay if you don't have the time or care. I hope everyone who plays RotMG comes around to enjoy it again like I do. I really do. I miss the old Realm, but I an grateful for the new one we are getting!     Just watched the part where Spencer said loot % should be based off of damage dealt and I just want to say how awful of an idea that is. I have seen it in action and TRUST ME it's not the way to go at all. You want the rich to get richer? You want the player's with better loot to get MORE loot? That's a way to make players quit on an exponential level. Not to mention that the entire meta of DPS that exists in halls and o3 discords will be even more powerful. If someone needs to do more of a % of damage, then they will either solo something or take potential dmg away from low level players. Also if I know I deal the most dmg I will fill my dungeons with midtier players in order to secure my spot as highest loot chance. It's loot theft. It's a terrible idea. Trust me, I've seen it. It's a recipe for the rich to get and stay rich and the poor to stay poor. EDIT: I don like to just shit on someone's idea without offering up another one, so here's how I think loot should work. Mind you this is better than loot being based off of dmg, but it's more of a "better of two evils" scenario. In my opinion, and it is opinion, loot should have a set chance to drop for everyone, as long as you hit soul-bound you have the shot at the white. However, since DECA can obviously track the amount of a dungeon you've done, the longer you go without getting a white the better the odds become, so very slightly, until the odds are so in your favor that they're close enough to guaranteed (but never actually guaranteed). I think another YTber had this idea as well, not sure who, maybe it was Hyperion, and I've always thought it would work far better than the current system. So, you want a DBlade? Okay, if the odds are 1/300 then lets say every completion adds 5 to those odds. Now you've done 30 with no white, which is a stupid amount, but the odds are 1/150, which is DOUBLE what it would have been. It could even be TRIPLE at that point. So now after 45 runs you finally get the white, and the odds reset to 1/300. The idea is that eventually you get the white. Only issue this could run into is that every item can't possibly be tracked, so dungeon bosses with like 4 whites would be an issue to work around.

    The only part I agree with is that this game isn't interesting to new players. The rest seems really out of touch. For example, you complain about how the dungeons were being stomped and it was really boring, now that they hp scale you're complaing that you can't stomp said dungeons anymore. You want nore addictive gambling aspects like in the mystery box which is just weird.

    I agree that the forge is ruining the game a lot, I feel like the forge should be temporary or maybe have it be something like "forge friday" the blacksmith only comes around one day a week and you have a chance to forge 1 item.

    Could you maybe talk to Deca about having previous versions of the game available to players? It would be similar to in Minecraft in which you are able to select which update you desire to play. It would be nice to play the old updates before pets were added into the game.

    the perma-death aspect of the game has to be review, how many times you die for lag, for stacked shots its not even your fault sometimes and then you have to start over again this constant repetitive loop makes a lot of people go away, there has to be something that speed ups the process that way you have more chances of actually having reall fun doing dungeons with people not just doing sprites for HOURS its insane.

    Permadeath will always be a core aspect of RotMG. It is part of the formula, among other things that kept old RotMG addicting. Most of the game is built up from that fact. The problem you have is not with one feature, but with poor optimization and coding that leads to such events. Also perhaps your poor internet connection.

    Gonna make a better comment about the vid when im able to write on pc and not mobile but- I agree with the thing of loot not being rare anymore and exciting as much as before (tho idk if its just me getting gud after years of playing) I disagree with the example of Abyss being harder, HP scaling being bad or the forge being a ruiner. Abyss in my opinion is so much better and less bullshit and lazy designed, before it was an easy if you can tank it or hard if you cant rush dungeon. With Forge, while I do agree that its implemented in a shitty way and needs major fixes to it, I dont see a problem in it. You can farm certain amount of other UTs for a specific one that you want but cant get, and to not make it too easy to get and be close to Realm's grind nature you need a blueprint m, ITS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL, IT ISNT AS SOME SAY 'LITERALLY NOT PLAYING THE GAME' I genuinely get annoyed when people bring up the forge as if it was a major problem, YOU CAN SKIP IT AS IF IT DIDNT EXIST. And HP scaling, It gives more challenge for the groups of people who may either be with a decent gear or be totally stacked o3 players, I dont see anything bad with it, maybe add an item check to balance it for bigger groups with worse gear idk

    go back farther in history, then. before pets, u cant just rush abysses, not on warrior knight or paladin, doesnt matter how good your gear is. fucking death trap if you try that on a long term. people just rushed a few rooms then cleared their drags. they'd rush a full one for youtube and then stop cuz its insanely difficult. but why do you say "it's completely optional" for forge? it's not just optional, it's objectively free loot. or do u think p2w is fine because thats optional too? so players who want a good game should just handicap themselves and live in delusion in an mmo? maybe u didn't play the old days before pets but it was actually cool to have endgame stuff back then, even just t11 stuff XD. and now deca releases new tiers and new UTs and "new endgame" all the time and they're only cool for a few weeks before nobody cares

    If you made maxing/potions actually hard to attain, then you wouldn't have the problem of gambling simulator with steamroll groups. Why? Cuz if people are whores for def pots again like the old days, then u can just make the pots guaranteed for 2-3 people. Then it's in people's favor to do the content with as small a group as possible. Which is much more fun to team up with a few ppl u meet in realm than to play "co-op" by standing in group of 50 people. But since u gave pots away as consolation prizes, now noone cares about them, now its just fucking gambling simulator. and the loot feels so meaningless anyway. deaths feel meaningless too, who cares about getting 8/8 or losing 8/8. also if maxing matters again then u fix the progression system too, because u get stronger the more wealth u can store, then u have more to risk on harder content. it's just so obvious to me how the game loop should work but nobody else seems to agree, idk just so much beauty in old rotmg that was lost because of kabam pets and further buried by deca trying to fix kabam's mistake without actually removing the mistake and not understanding what made rotmg fun. but we'll never get classic/oldschool rotmg, sad imo rotmg should never have had keys or anything like that, even though its always been part of the game since the old days. but they needed money, so.. and now u have discords just raiding all day, very cringe

    I have a long time didn't play this game and just want to see what going on now. Just the same as before. High cost to grow up, and huge loss when u die. I even haven't go to a big dungeon myself like o3 when I still playing. Just because the cost of a character is too much. Why I need to take risk to done the dungeon if it not that good enough? 3 key points make me lose interest on this game. 1. high cost to die, 2. no big change, 3. no aim for player to move on. I just think, why don't the dev just cut off the 8/8 and leveling structure.. if everyone is restart from 8/8 then all u lose when u die are just your beg and wearing equipment, everyone can enjoy any high end content with low risk. Raise up the difficult for other simple dungeon, remove the forge system, start trading system, even build up a official marketplace system. Start build up new map / new area for advance difficult, keep it rare for some of the high end item, improve pet system including pet skill type, skill selection, achieve pet skill combination without cost. The above are some directions that can help the game regain its reputation. However, I have seen a lot of recommendation to the dev in this few years, and they just have zero reply to the community. Just a simple question, are they fixed the 2560x1440 window problem on exalt launcher? I just open the game right now, and still need to change my resolution by myself, change from 1920x1080 to 2560x1440 then back to 1920x1080 to get the normal view. I have put a lot of effort on this game, even the pet already 100/100/89 I just give up the whole thing. Devs are just left the game, and irregularly adding some weird idea into the game. Shatter 2? This just a joke for me. I even don't have that motivative to play on it.

    I think players competing to get items against each other is problematic actually to a degree anyway. Yea it can be motivating to see someone else pull a white and think “I’m going to get that one day” however this is a co-op game we shouldn’t be competing to see who can get an item because and this happens already is if you don’t have something good or whatever people won’t let into their runs of say O3 or other things people would want to try and use the community to have the help to ruj the end game

    garbage mentality. players in mmos want to be legends, its a stupid fantasy but thats the appeal. if u can't get something cool that other people don't have, it completely takes away the incentive to grind, even if some people dont like to admit it. back in wildshadow days, only good players can max stats, everyone else is noobs farming midlands to get lvl 20. and what this meant is that it actually felt good to reach endgame because u accomplished something that isn't given for free. its a coop game but we are all still playing for ourselves. if you pull your dream white one day, and then next day deca gives it for free in gift chest to everyone, why pretend u wont be disappointed?

    I got my acc with over 500€ spent on it and i got my idk how much 8/8 characters and i tryied ro come back and i felt like, wtf this is bullshit, this is too long for everything even with full ut sets and now i connected 2 times and one i died becuz a big armed crab (epic wizard set bye) that i get shooting on it for 5 minuted with one of best dmg sets for wizi and knowing how the loot is like, fuck you, bye, no worth it

I agree the forge may not be balanced for the high level legendaries, and I agree that the blueprints should be rarer and item specific but that is the worst take I've ever heard. Making a game more accessible is simply healthy for the game as a whole, and while this may not be the best way to do so gatekeeping a game is still a bad thing and will result in nothing good. I no longer play the game but I played for ~1300 hours.

    @@silenced._.8969 No I am entirely serious. I don't deny that you loved the change. Changing the game will favor a new audience, since different people have different tastes. Now this is simply a question of, who deserves to be pandered to? The original playerbase who fell in love with a hardcore, unforgiving game. Or the newcomers, who like a more "normal" mmo experience. May be just me, but I would never dream of coming into an established game and acting like my experience is more important than people who were there before. Certainly not to the extent that I would change the funtamentals of the game for "accessibility". But it happens all the time, because money talks. An undeniable truth of the matter is that ROTMG is one of those games where the original core audience pretty much unanimously up and left because of much of the "accessibility" changes. It's an ongoing process that's been happening ever since Kabam days. Adding pets made the game a lot more accessible, attracted a LOT of new players, and made a shit ton of money. Not a great addition, in my eyes. Other games usually have vets come back to play after long breaks (since things get old after a while and you have to stop), its rare with rotmg since the game is literally unrecognizable from what it used to be, and not in a good way if you loved the original concept.

    You should mention to deca that when a character dies because their game crashes that not everyone is a streamer or even has the capabilities for such things I lost my 3 best characters to this in 1 day and they won’t do a thing about it because I don’t record my gameplay since you’re a deca partner I hope you can help bring changes that will help the community instead of how deca is basically encouraging all new players to cheat just to get any bag that’s what I’m fixing to do anyway I’m honestly just done with how trash deca is

    Not really. From watching new players start the game, they are completely unable to access the forge from the start, as they don't have the materials to forge them with. To just use the forge system at all, one needs to hoard a large supply of UTs for the forge. People who say that the forge caters to new players are genuinely delusional. If anything, it confuses them if nothing else. The people who actually love the forge are mid-game to end-game players who don't have too much time on their hands but already have a ton of UTs and extra space stored up.

    a large supply? you just need 3 low tier uts to make another low tier ut you want, 3 mid tiers again for another mid tier ut you want, is not that hard. Why the only ones complaining are the same ones that do like 20 o3 runs in a day and have a shit ton of endgame items? then they say like "oh players then can go craft a divinity and shit" i guarantee you that less than 10% of players can craft divinitys or event whites, also not everyone likes to grind 100 a dungeon that you get one time per realm just to get 1 ut that you could lost forever for a sngle mistake and then have to grind 100 times again, the fact that you can actually play various dungeons and not just grind 100 times the dungeons with good items is really good and yall forge haters are delusional.

Getting your hands on three white bag items of your desired value, and then storing them without using them is a lot to ask from a new player.
