Its probably a controversial opinion, but I think heavy bombers should be added. In mainstream AB and RB matches, there could prehaps be a few ai bomber flights on the EC maps, much like the attacker flights. But then should also be in the tech tree. Although they should be limited to either sim matches, or a reworked version of heli PvE mode where bombers and strike aircraft are more viable for those wanting to get away from the very TDM like matches in normal AB and RB

F-14B on its way!

For F-14 I run: 2 Pheonixes, 4 AIM-7s and 2 AIM-9s. Pheonixes are bit of a meme so just climb, fire them at enemy climbers if you get kills then great if not it's back to missile jousts with AIM-7s and use 9s on unsuspecting fellas or use them to force them to turn

That’s exactly what I do. Probably average 0.8 kills per game with the Phoenix. Not phenomenal, but it’s usually one of the other teams mig-29s and I think it makes a difference

It was a phoenix lmao, it didn’t even look like it was trying to pull up towards him, probably just another example of the phoenix being kind of dog water.

Back when it first came out you could manually loft them by aiming way above the target, and the missile would just take forever to turn back down towards them. That got me an 80km kill on thr large maps

Technically the F-14, even in War Thunder is a rate fighter, meaning it does a 2 circle fight well. It’s when you get too slow is when you’re in trouble. As any aircraft that’s great in a radius fight aka a one circle fight, you’re almost guaranteed to lose. Keep the speed up and keep in the rate fight and you will have a good chance to win an engagement.

Good question! You don't have to no, the missile starts guiding itself at about 18km or so. Amd for that at least you just gotta guess

Opinions on the AMRAAM and contemporaries coming this year? Gripen C is confirmed and the AIM-54 lofting fix leads me to believe we'll be receiving other earlier ARH missiles such as AIM-120A/B, R-27EA, R-77, PL-12, and Python IV. Unsure if we'll see MICAs for the French and if we do they must be nerfed.

@@supersarge24 makes more sense then the R-77 as the first iteration of the R-77 was kinematically dogshit. R-27EA is much more similar to the AMRAAM kinematics wise.

We just need reworked modes so all planes can be properly utilized. And reward system in AIR RB is also super inconsistent - If you don't want to be passive wus, or just get unlucky uptier where you just gonna get 3 people on your 6 without much to do about it, you beat 10 missiles while others watching them to deplete all ammo before they get to scoop freebies, and in 50% cases like this, friendly 9L from A10 will hit you, and you get exactly nothing for 10-15 minutes of dicking around.

What's the climbing method for tue f14? What fuel load and climb angle? To fire off phoenixes early, I mean.

Usually I try to get above mach .85, and then angle up to 20 degrees. You'll slowly push closer to mach while you climb. I usually run 45 minutes personally

I think they should add awaks to rb. Playable with no kills but u get decent money for intellegence when someone on your radar gets killed. Im not to the jets yet to know how radar already works for fighters. But you get some accurate radar. Then u got 1-2 awaks max that can be played per game first come first serve. They don’t show up in the sky with red names like ab. But they constantly show up on your data link radar or something. Some way to do it thats realistic and badass. It could be op so thats why i think it would be limited so theres no constamt awaks if the enemy is skilled enough to take them out. Also theres a tree for awaks so not everyone has the same one etc.

i thought you only had to climb to like 2000 meters, thats usually how high i flew before and i got kills for days

Personally I would go F8U/F8E instead of the F-5E, though any are a good choice. Long term, Soviets are a good grind, the MiG-29 is excellent and they have a healthy future just like the American treee

I've bought the F8E and F4J and former isn't that much of an improvement over amazing-since-downtier F8U, latter resides 24/7 in Mig29/F16 hell. And while I can see outline of greatness of Sparrows with Phantom, radar lets me down bit too reliably. Either players in average furball accidentally notch you, or PD refuses to lock anyone not head-on, while standard mode is prone to all the usual shenanigans. Also stock experience in F4J is pain incarnate.

Is it still worth it to grind? Or should i jist go for the f14 b?

The missile has it's on on board PD radar it will not see Chaff. However, the F-14s radar in TRK mode will see chaff and guide the AIM-54 on it.

No, the missile seeker doesn't care as long as the target is being illuminated by enough radar energy.

Missile doesn't care about chaff if it's internal Radar is in PD mode. Doesn't matter what your plane locks as long as there is moving target in lock cone, your missiles will go after that target. Mirage F1 sucks for the reason that it doesn't have PD radar mode either it's missiles, so they get chaffed as easy as AIM-9C/R-3R do.

Nope, the missile is exactly ss prone to chaff in PD as it is in normal TRK. The reason your missiles in the Mirage F1C get eaten by chaff is because they don't have a CW seekerhead like the sparrow, they have a Pulse seekerhead which will eat chaff every time, even in PD. You can have the target locked still on your radar and the missile will eat the chaff.

Most likely not, the AIM-54C also didn't use the mk 60 in most cases. It used the Mk 47 mod 1, which was smokeless :)

Yeah I got to see the buff in person when they first did it. Got hit side-aspect by a 54… I saw the lock, notched it and spammed literally all my chaff/flares which was like 30ish each. Still got hit directly from the side. I watched the damn thing come right from the left side of my screen and slam into the wing of my jet. Only time I’ve been more pissed off at gaijin is when their Gepards one shot headshot my pilot going Mach or higher. I’m Aim54 are supposed to be easy to defeat. You’re supposed to be able to literally just notch it and it’s done. Yet notching AND 30 chaff did nothing?.. okay..

If you don’t maneuver then the missile will use the last information it got and will intercept you regardless, if you maneuver it will not maneuver with you if you had notched and chaffed it would’ve lost lock and no longer is tracking you, it was just tracking your last radar signal.

I find so many people don't know how to play the F-16. In a sustained turn it beats every top tear jet in the game, you just have to slow down to 600-700 kph. All the other jets bleed to much speed and energy and in the 16 you end up coming around the circle to their 6....and there is nothing they can do about it!

I would say the F-14 is the best top tier in the current meta, most kills in a average match are made with radar missiles, and you get 6 opportunities to do it. Sure the R-27ER puts the Aim7F to shame, but Mig29 can only carry 2 of them and the F-14 still outperforms a mig29 in a dogfight + better radar for situation awareness

I heard about the buff so I tried the tomcat again and fired 10 phoenixes in tws with no hits lol. I prefer fox 1s anyway

F-14A should 100% stay at 11.7, has weaker flight performance than the f-16 and mig and a weaker radar and thrust than the yak. Only advantage it has is the aim54 but its more gimmicky than reliable kills. However some of the other jets you listed dont really deserve 11.7 and should probably be be dropped down to 11.3. Mirage 2k really didnt deserve the nerf to 11.7

it still doesn't loft nearly enough. Should be 30 degree's plus in most scenario's. It still just keeps itself level most of the time unless you're throwing it super long distance

This hard loft happens only at high altitudes, (around 10km and definitely not lower than 7km) and long distances (70km or more), while aiming at a target with high altitude. In wt we never get these altitudes, and for 30-40 km shots, when missile hits while still burning or shortly after, straight trajectory is just kinematically better

Not looking forward to this when I reach top tier air.

i just want a half-decent equivalent to russia's magical data-link, IOG-guided Fox 1. i am finding it increasingly hard to believe that even AIM-7Ms weren't equipped with atleast SOME sort of analogue to the technology- if we get to lofting AIM-7MHs that still cant handle losing lock for more than 3s im probably gonna some rip hairs out lmao

I actually believe that the Yak-141 is superior to the F-14. The Zhuk radar has about 100km range on TWS and the R-27ER is among the fastest missiles in game, not to mention FVIFFing and its overal agility. The only problem with it is its relatively low top speed and 4 missile slots (again, counteracted by the option to have 4 R27's).

Personally the energy retention and the ability to carry 6 AIM-7Fs puts the F-14 above the Yak IMO, although it is very good. I just wish jt was allowed to carry 4 R-27ERs, that would be nutty

@@GeneralLee2000 I forgot to mention that the zhuk radar has about an 85° horizontal himbal limit, meaning that you can hypothetically notch whilst keeping your radar on target. Also, the lack of energy retention is very much counteracted by the sheer, incomprehensible acceleration of the Yak.

R27er lofts

If they're gonna nerf the thrust to Mk47 levels they should at least also make it smokeless, like the Mk47 was designed for. It'd sure as hell make it harder to dodge, since you wouldn't be able to see it unless they give it a permanent diamond OR give it the missile diamond while in pitbull range (since they actually fire off already active in WT, also I think they should do that for all Fox-3 missiles especially because almost all of them have smokeless motors). Doesn't matter to me tho, I don't play anymore, thank fuck. Also, still not convinced the 54 actually lofts. When you pointed out that example, you also fired the missile intentionally pointing your nose upwards, and then dropped it after. It kept around the same angle you had when it launched, it used to do exactly that. And I didn't really see it bend either, even looking at its trail. It just looked like it was lofting (I guess it was, just forced) because you were no longer at that same climb angle, so it drifted above your nose. To truly test if it actually lofts, you'd need to fire on a very slow moving, large target as far away as possible, while having your nose level, not flight path level, nose level, and as slow as you can get, co-altitude with the target. This will make it so it HAS to loft if it wants ANY hope of hitting the target. Something like a PBY or BV-238 at like 20k feet and preferably around 75-100km away.

The lock range stat doesn't really mean anything, the ER can score hits much further out than 40 km because it guides off of datalink. I've scored hits in excess of 60km with it personally, you can actually see it on my last MiG-29 video as well :)

They're not luck based, but the 7F is definitely better for killing fighters so I won't fault you for it

Personally I prefer flying the F-16A ADF. The radar is much better and I’m a big fan of the flight model. Maybe I’m just flying the F-14 wrong, but I always seem to have horrible luck with it, despite me performing quite well with the F-4J

It really will. War Thunder has quantitative matchmaking, which means that in 11.0-12.0 games you can only have 4 12.0s... there's no limit on 11.7s. So a full team of F-14s with 4 F-16s can fight a full team of MiG-21s with 4 MiG-29s

That was an unusual match 😅 that's not typically how that would go. But me showing all the matches I fired a bunch and got 1 or no hits isn't fun to watch.

F-15A can't carry AMRAAM BTW, so we probably won't get that combo just yet

F16 is much better than the f14 I have more aces in the f16 and I’ve take 2 f14s at the same time I honestly target f14s as they are dangerous for my team who doesn’t see them yet and that’s it imo

@Nagy Kiss lee doesnt praise it, me neither. There are content creators that constantly bitch on the game and get huge views from it, but im not into that. If you like pessimistic content more, go watch that, but i believe nobody is here to hear someone crying how bad gaijins decisions are for 5 minutes straight.
