Gotta love how the movie JUDGE DREDD actually built puppets of ABC warriors without CGI

I've always loved the ABC warriors, they are a very close second as my favorite characters after Dredd himself. I have read almost all the stories and I'm happy to see that Pat Mills at the start of 2023 has returned the warriors to the comic.
The art work of 2000ad was classical, so detailed, beautifully inked with so much atmosphere, would cost the equivalent of Fort Knox to make a live action of either the ABC warriors or the origin of rogue trooper
The abc warriors sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon

Mike it was Thursdays after school when the comic was delivered! ahhh 2000ad......And Transformers.....And Ninja Turtles....And In combat!...I read a lot!
Now you know your ABC thanks to the letter H.
Amazing how many people are unaware of these characters! Truly some of the sickest, darkest most twisted stories to come out of the UK! Absolutely awesome comics that had me utterly transfixed when I first read them. Really nothing else like them to be honest.

So many good memory's reading the abc warriors growing up .....every time I got a new issue I would skip all the rest and go straight to the abc warriors....great storyline and the art always blew my mind...it was the judge dredd comics that got me into drawing..something I still do 25 years later...looking forward to this series..well done MR H....cheers from Australia
I love ABC warriors. Also neat how they have stories over centuries - war droids - post war scavangers - unwitting servants of Khaos...etc.
Dang the art is beautiful and the story looks interesting. I like the idea of sentient robots and the possibility of morality being integrated into the character development and plotlines. Thank you Mr H for posting the video.

You make me love the old 2000AD again. So many memories of my first reads. Thank you for your efforts.
Simon Burley's inkwork was Amazing!👍👍👍👍👍
Great to see this. Can't wait for a vid on Deadlock, he has quite an interesting connection with Nemesis The Warlock!
So very cool, putting an ABC Warrior remains far and away the best decision the made for the Judge Dredd Film, and wasn't out of place since the first film had that over the top style.
Delighted that when I wanted to know more about them Mr H had already done a fabulous video. Cheers mate!

I remember them in Robusters. Where the boss was using bigger mechs to flatten and tarmac a port. One that ate rubble and laid tarmac after it. Some giant sea Robot came to fight them all. Been using SteelHorn as my Tag for near 20Years. Been a fan of 2000AD (70s) since I found 1 had come through my door. Still got the annuals!
Either a tv show or a movie series... Either one would be badass
As you probably guess from my name I am a big fan of the ABC Warriors. The Volgan Wars is a good place to start for new readers.

Ro Jaws ....some of the best characters in the 2000ad universe and the art is just outstanding ..Langley and Bisley 's art just gives it such a rich feel ..
Joe Pineapples is my favourite ABC Warrior. My Favourite artist is Simon Bisley, although I quite like Glen Fabry (Who designed the ABC robot in the first Judge Dredd movie.). Speaking of Simon Bisley, please, please, please do a video (Or ten) about Slaine.

Hans Wilder it was bisleys pen and ink art that blew me away when I first read them . How many times I had tried to draw joe the way Bisley had drawn him , standing on a body with his rifle aimed or the flash where he has shot someone but the page is made up of the bullet traveling just inspired. .couldn agree more about slain either ..
@deathdeathington
6 жыл бұрын
His style is weirdly unique, you can see the Frank Frazzeta influence on his work, especially his painting. But his inking is just amazing. It's unusual for pencilers to ink their own work. Penciling and inking are two different ball games. The only other person I can think of, off the top of my head who does that is Sam Keith (Sam sometimes foregoes the pencil stage altogether!) You can see the Frazzetta influence in Keith's style too. But Simon Bisley is a force of nature.

Mr H, Thanks for this! I reely enjoy your vids!
I’m a brand new subscriber and I absolutely love your content! You have the same taste in films, comics, and science fiction in general as I do! As a new subscriber I was looking over your Judge Dredd material and I stumbled upon the ABC Warriors. I happen to be a big fan of comics but because I’m an American, I’m not too familiar with Britain’s long lasting and hugely influential comic magazine 2000 AD. I do know that 2000 AD is an anthology style comic magazine but outside of Judge Dredd, I know very little about the other stories published within the magazine. After watching your videos on The ABS Warriors like Deadlock, I’ve become immediately hooked! How could I have missed a comic that’s so epic and insanely creative! To my knowledge there is literally nothing like it anywhere else! Do you think you can make more videos and character breakdowns of the rest of the team as well as exploring the many different adventures, storylines, and backstories to this incredibly epic series. This just goes to show how original comics from the U.K. are and how wildly creative and adult their themes are. I’m so happy that I found your channel and you definitely have a new subscriber in me. I hope to see more content on The ABC Warriors and I look forward to watching your next video! Cheers!
Can’t wait for these videos
I'm looking forward to the specific videos
Although it should have been seen coming I diddn't like that they used the Savage series to do a sort of origins for the ABC' s, having early versions of them being used to liberate Britain. I preferred Savage as a modern war story, no sci fi.
The character design is amazing
BRILLIANT. INFORMATIVE. LEFT ME HUNGRY FOR MORE
Are you likely to do the back story for Deadlock, why he joined the ABC Warriors and his subsequent evolution to Nemesis?
They were one of my favourites from 2000AD. You should also cover Slaine at some point.
With the release of Warlord's "ABC Warriors: Increase the Peace" I've been searching for videos on the game and The Algorithm tossed this up. Now to look up more of your videos on the subject. 👍👍
Those were some bad ass names. Would love to see them team up with Dredd and fight Death or the other evil judges
Mr. H, you've given us a lot of 2000 A.D. material, and thanks for that (I never knew so much existed beyond Dredd and Megacity One!). But what about giving us a video with a comprehensive timeline to the universe of 2000 A.D. that connects it all together???

Cool! do Nemesis soon! He always seemed to crossover with the abc warriors. And his planet and race etc.
I can't wait for more about the individual ABC warriors
Amazing! 😁👌🏻
In the movie the ABC warrior was 50 or 60 years old basically he was the equivalent of Korean War or Vietnam era tech to us. I wonder if he was supposed to be the last survivor of his type?

With sure those characters were inspiration for the game and the history of warhammer.

No they were built in the UK. Well Hammerstien was built by ROVER. I remember reading this !
Been a massive fan of 2000ad since about 1987 and I think you’ve been doing 2000ad much justice!!! Hopefully it will introduce people to the brilliant comic !!!!..... although you seem to know maybe too much about 2000ad........ I suspect you may be Tharg !!!!!

Love it. Check out volgan war if you haven't already. Art work is sublime.
I like that the version in the movie was designed based on Arnold Schwarzenegger
I still have thos comics, some Robusters and some Volgan Wars issues, really something those brit comics...
I've wanting for this hahaha
Man I just found your information on this lot. I thought I were the only person on this planet reading this stuff (of course not). I would love a dark movie on this lot alas 99% never to happen.
An big Fan of ABC Warriors and other characters reading 2000ad during the mid 1970s
Love the art of the current ABC warriors but not sure about the storyline though, cool review though.
Funny how art and reality collide sometimes.
Members include Happy Shrapnel, Death Metal, Killer Tank, and... Terry.
If memory serves me right... nearly forty years ago now... didn't the ABC warriors almost topple Dredd as 2000ad's most popular story? Circa 81 I think.

The Vogons???? Those are the aliens from douglas adams hitchhikers guide, who would torture other beings by reading their poetry.
Oh fuck yeah
imagine their new enemies are the 123 Warriors. And then they join together to fight their greatest enemy as a team and that every team will be called: . . . ABC and i'll be easy as 123. I have no idea who they are, good to know i learn something knew today.
