The abandoned Ford Tractor is FINISHED!!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today on the channel we finish the Diesel Ford 861 we have been working on for over a year! As a reminder, I bought this tractor sight unseen and I kind of got burned on it. Nevertheless, you need to persevere and finish what you started!

When I taught electronics in a state tech center, a farmer donated a Ford tractor that had spent 35 years underwater in a farm pond. Our Farm Implement students did a miracle complete restoration. Driving it around the parking lot, I drove it up the front steps onto the main building porch and left it there. I turned on our school's PR dept. and they made a display for it showing the fore/during/results the teens had done. After it stayed there a few weeks, I contacted local schools and we made a show 'n tell driving it around to the schools. The farm program got over 150 applicants the next year, saving the program.

Cool!
I've been working on these older diesel tractors for years, they always had little smoke to them at idle. They were never designed to idle for long, they were built to get hot and work for hours on end with little to no breaks. Great work so far, its a beautiful tractor.
Heck of a job!!! And hats off to the most patient wife you could ever ask for!!!
I LOVED THIS SERIES! Your patience has paid off. , NEXT TRACTOR.? Please IH only!

I grew up in Warren. First 2 jobs were at two gas stations at 11 mile and Dequindre. Looks like you are in that area so I gotta ask what are you planning to do with these larger tractors? I have a old L2900 dt Kubota diesel 4wd I did similar overhaul as yourself. I loved your comment about time for the tractor to graduate. My tractor graduated with B minus grades. The red epoxy paint? What kind? The fasteners are going to rust. I think you should paint them. Too nice a job painting everything else. Keep these coming, very good to see.@dieseJL
The thing about borrowing tools, when you break them You have to pay twice, 1) Replace the tool you broke and return it, 2) Buy your own tool.

Absolutely 💯 agree 👍
You did an amazing job on this, you should be proud. These are never quick restorations/fixes, and yes, you have an amazingly understanding wife ( that she gets why you do what you do), treat her to something nice. I restored a 69 Z28 years ago. I too had two young children…spent many a late night in the shop after helping my wife with the kids ( she got it too, like yours ). You’ve got a new subscriber. You done good.👍
Congratulations on the tractor looks like it’s brand new, love the channel I hope the KZread algorithm kicks in and your subscriber count shoots to the moon. Again great job and have a great, safe ,healthy and successful 2024.

Thank you! Yeah I am thrilled with it!
You are very brave with your adjustable hammer bro😅
Beautiful machine y'all! You did a great job rebuilding it!
Tricky freaky Ricky here. From Razor shap tuned. thank you for the inspiration. I was about to sell my 59' 861D, but forget it! I'm going to finish it just like you did. Thanks again. Beautiful job.
Even my nicest old naturally aspirated ford diesels smoke like that, the best ones do clear up when they are working running a chopper or pulling a disc. But on a calm day with the rear exit exhaust, you have a hazey gray cloud following you around the orchard. Hit some thick grass or put extra load to them and they let the black smoke fly. However, i have no experience with those pre 65 diesels. But it doesn't sound bad to me! You did a nice job on it, and whatever you spent would not buy half that much tractor new.

I cant wait to put it to work!
The tractor looks great. Nice job. My dad always blew the tube up a little when inserted in the tyre to settle. It helps a little to stop pinching it.
Take it from a father in his 60's even when they are grown up you will worry about your children. But you can feel good about that because it means you are a good father. 👍🙏
I think you did a great job 👍👍 you were so patient and calm re fixing problems so much more then i could. You've got something to be proud of young man really great job 👍👍🇺🇸
After asking around some old timers they all agreed the US market has almost all gasoline motors and the UK market has mostly diesel motors as the rest of Europe. Fordson, Ferguson shared some components but I’ve heard the motors were more diesel designed. This is all information I’ve heard from older retired farmers.
Great job on the tractor. I have an 801 Select-O-Speed diesel that I inherited from my dad. He told me that he bought a gas tractor first but it used too much gas so he took it back and traded it for the diesel. Also, my tractor has a metal bracket that goes from the exhaust pipe over to a bolt hole for the hood so it doesn’t vibrate.

Our 801 had the exhaust that exited under the running board and to the rear. It was a smooth running tractor unless it got a tiny slug of water in the system. And in Florida there was no way to prevent it as our humidity is so high. The problem with a Select-O-Speed transmission is that as soon as the engine stops, it goes into park.
Looks great, I have a ford 971 select0speed and a ford 941 workmaster that I have restored.
You did an amazing job! I enjoyed watching you work on it.
Looking good! I know you are glad to have it running. I can't wait to hear my 8N running.
I have been using mine for years. Still working just fine.
This notice of the video arrived 5 minutes ago and I didn’t see it! Crap!! Now I drop EVERYTHING to watch this.
Great job! It looks fantastic.
Just finished a1958 851. They are a lesson in love. Great work on yours.
You should be very proud. Job well done. You are a very good mechanic. One has to have an aptitude for it... it is not just training. So HAPY to hear you have plans to put it to work. Given where you live I have wondered more than once what the hell you are doing with a tractor ? in the middle of town. love it. cheers
That’s rear intelligent using the drill to run the pump checking for leaks. I learned something today. Thank you.
Great work restoring it ,sounds good..
I love the way it sounds!❤
Excellent work. Thats one fine-looking tractor! You should be proud.
I used to operate these tractor 501,8N 4speed later models select-0_speed they were all diesel and they handled great they were magnificent 50-60yrs ago
Great job!!
Splendid, congratulations and nuw up to the next project 👍👍👍
Great work!
Nice job on the rebuild. Makes my Ford 8N look super simple in comparison.
It looks really good. I've enjoyed watching work through the process. Been a bit of a ride for us an the "what's going to go wrong next" side of things, but it turned out awesome. Keep it up, your content is great!

Great Job!!!!!
Your manuals are what us older mechanics wished for. We asked someone who like ourselves, had done it before so information was handed down just like the tractor you will let one of your kids have. I pity that you have to pick who gets what as I am at a age of letting things go to who I think will treat it with respect. I am so happy to see you learning this even tho there is no need for this trade of old equipment on the whole as they are limited to who still has one and whether they need that help or not. You now have information at a punch of a button and to me is the greatest thing happening now.. very nice work and keep doing it as your going to get this kind of respect at some point in time
Smile all you want ! Nice job
Nicely done, that will make a great tractor.
The is awesome. Amazing job.
You did awesome work congratulations 🎉

Still waiting for more 977 videos you and your dad remind me a lot of me and my brother we were in the excavation business and tackled many repair jobs probably some that we should not have tried to tackle but we always came out on top very familiar with 977s and 955s can't wait to see more you always also seem to come out on top!! that is very admirable!!

I serviced these tractors back in the 80's the rental yard I worked at had about 6 of them and they were defiantly smokey even after I tilled the field we had next door a couple hour job it does get less smoky when she gets really warmed up. Man this brought back memories.
Great job! Luke is being introduced to tractors very young. One of my grandsons was too (by my son-in-law) and now all he wants for birthdays and Christmas is tractors and tractor shirts. Perhaps Luke will be obsessed too. 😊
Good job

I do think they are great tractors in the end!
When you put the tube in, put a little bit of air in the tube before you/ roll the tyre on, helps stops pinching the tube. Nice job, beautiful tractor
