Very interesting - Thanks for the video!
When I walked Eastern Cemetery in the late 80's they had a horse drawn hearse that belonged to the cemetery. I use to take photos of headstones for people that lived too far away to come to Louisville. The controversy of multiple people in the same grave was in court at that time.
There is a documentary on this called Facing East. It is absolutely wild. Working in death care and in a cemetery this hurts my heart to a degree I cannot describe.
Beautiful cemetery! I love walking in old cemeteries to visit and learn of those resting there. Thank you!!!
I grew up on Payne St. and a family member and some friends still live on Payne and Baxter. I have relatives who are buried at Eastern. Whether a person believes in ghosts/spirits are not, I have seen things that would curl your hair. There is a woman who claimed to be a witch buried there. She has a headstone. As a matter of fact, you went past her headstone walking by what you called a Mausoleum.,but is the chapel for the services. When I was young, the chapel was very lovely.
I was fortunate enough to stay in the crematorium last summer with my friends. It is one of the few places that I've stayed that felt "off." I can't explain it.

It’s a trippy place
What a beautiful peaceful place! Love walking through old cemeteries and paying my respects and reading the names and wondering what their story is. And I call it a weed eater. Lol

Me too I love walking cemeteries especially old ones. Reading wondering paying my respects.
I would love to know if the building as you enter was really the actual Crematuim or if the Crematuim was actually the big building in the back, which I think used to have the name Louisville Crematuim painting on it. I have not found too many records on it yet. I actually love to visit old cemeteries. I have actually visited Eastern Cemetery and while there at Eastern Cementy I was just overcome with such sadness, more than any other cemeteries I have visited. I actually live in Louisville and have been talking to my daughter-in-law about renting the Airbnb for a weekend just to do a spirit box session. I think it would be pretty cool.
I worked for 3 cemeteries and we call it whacking.
In the early 90s I visited with a local nursing program. Only 2 people kept the property up and the crematorium was still open. One employe was a federal investigator who remained behind after investigation into the reselling of occupied plots. Also the bulldozing of old areas, that were resold. Many headstones and remains were found over hillside.

Wow. You were there in the height of peril. Thanks for the comment.
I wish you had known that one of the famous Hatfield and McCoy's relative is buried in Eastern,so you could have seen the grave.
I believe it's haunted. This poor soul,s not at rest
Maybe the haunting is done by the Caspers, friendly ghoast!
Is this off of Baxter Ave?

Interesting, that’s a new one to me. Thanks for watching
Weed eating!!
And no the crematorium was not across the street.
This is really sad. I need to get out there and make sure my Granny's stone is okay. 🥹
