A Porsche salesman told me that the reason why the ignition key is on the left side is that a race car driver uses his/her left hand to start the car and shift gear using the right hand and go.

Le Mans drivers run to their car and need to start up as soon as possible so the 911 ignition is located next to the door for that exact reason. drivers can shave off a sec or two by turning the ignition and putting the car into gear at the same time

How bout in 1964 when Porsche was a startup and not the profit making company they are today. Wiring was expensive and it was cheaper to wire the ignition switch on the left. Porsche first Le Mans entry was 1966. Two years after the 901 which was renamed the 911 for its market launch in 1964.

I just ordered a 992 GTS because is the highest spec car with a manual that is not a GT4, GT3... But you are absolutely spot on. This car is too damn perfect. And the fact that it will destroy pretty much every car out there makes it even more amazing

Well done! I’ve owned a base 992 and 991s but I want a stick without the depreciation hit so picking up a 997 turbo manual. 992 gts targa would be my ideal car

Agreed with this video; nice review. IMO, the best thing about Porsche is the reliability. I mean I love my Lamborghini. But, I do miss how solid my Porsches felt.

Porsche 911s are like that song you hear that you think isn't all that. Then you hear it again and again and understand something not initially heard. The true depth of it makes it truly the best.

Love your comments. As an current/original owner of a 993 Turbo, I had to add one of these to my stable and glad to hear it will feel like home, similar to my Taycan which was instantly familiar as if I had been driving it for years. It goes directly to your comments about the focus to the entire interaction with the car. There is no substitute.

A very eloquent and knowledgeable review touching different aspects of the car while keeping us captivated. Absolutely enjoyed it.

I think the Turbo S is the best car Porsche has built. The new GT3 is a great car but the S is just as good if not dare as say better even though its chunkier.They really knocked it out of the park. Im not a cabrio guy maybe if i didnt live in NH that would change but it doesn't matter.It carries speed in ways the 991 doesn't handles much much better.

nothing beats the SLS on feeling it an analogue car...still with reasonable amount of modern features and a drivetrain and engine that are amazing. Nothing compares to instantaneous throttle response of the SLS..the analogue steering wheel feel...etc

I agree , it’s the best rounded super/Gt/sports car in the world , it has mesmerizing performance on par with and better than most Supercars but is docile and comfortable when you want it to be also

I agree! The Turbo S is the greatest car for the money. Nothing else delivers in all aspects as well as this car does. One of the few cars that truly makes one feel that they are getting more super car than they paid for. Build quality is phenomenal and performance levels are phenomenal!

Original quad exthaust with sport package is the propper way to spec a car like this (then later adding some afterm. intermediate pipes with the original quad exhaust)

FACTS!! I’ve always thought Porsche was ugly. Ironically I’d buy one. They’re fast and the build quality is superb.

I’m seeing these cars in the $250-$300,000 price range. Are their Amy Ferraris or Lambos that you would consider purchasing in that price range over that if you were new to purchasing super cars?

Yessss spot on! The 991 Turbo S looks so much better in the front AND back.

The 911 has evolved and been perfected since 1963 so not such an incredible achievement.

Regarding the perfect car comment - does that in your opinion apply to that cabrio version specifically, or both it and the coupe?

The way he describes the 992 turbo s as perfection, like a utopia where everything is "perfect", as it's ultimate flaw is so brilliant. In a way, this car is like the dystopia of supercars; it was made with the intent of being perfect in every way such that there is nothing new to learn or experience about it.

I love the 992

I always had Porshe turbo, 996 then 997 then 991 turbo s. I always traded the last one for the new one. In all the years and mileages all I have done has been to change the oil every 10-12 k miles and nothing else. It always drives like the first day.

$220,000 is the base price per Porsche. On line they’re selling for more like $275,000 to $300,000.

I was contemplating between a brand new Porsche 911 or a used Ferrari. Now, you just help me lean towards a Porsche 👍

Incredible car. Not much else to say...and to me it's better than the 993 in almost every way. It's not as analog - but as a daily driver it crushes a 993.

The only problem it doesn’t turn head much but it’s a sweet car

McLaren seems to have a lot of reliability issues, hopefully they've gotten better

Ferrari really needs to take notes from Porsche on wheel fitment. Ferraris look like 4x4s. Some of their wheel fitments are atrociously bad (front of the F50). I've never seen wheel fitment so spot on from the factory as something like a GT3.

The best car ever built! I own 992 turboS and they are way better then my Ferrari F12 or Aston Martin DBS!

Love the 720s but there are so many problems, Aston is very cool looking car but missing that crazy speed and price dropping like crazy. *Will buy brand new. Ferrari i cant find honest review because of you know what... so damn confusing !
