    For a video about headlights, you spent too little time on the headlights themselves, and more time showing us what the cars sounded like, and how they accelerated. At least half the cars you didn't even feature a clip of the headlights in operation. Only showing them in either their closed or open state.

    You missed many much cooler ones: The Miura which had "eyelashes". The Opel GT with pop up lights that rolled sideways, 180 degrees. Jaguar XJ220 with covers that dropped in front of the headlights. Cizeta Moroder which had NOT 2 but FOUR popup lights. Corvette C4 which rolled the headlights in a spectacular way. An the ones who started it all Cord 810 and Alfa Romeo 8C, back in 1936. Please be more thorough!

    I'm glad they included the Buick Riviera at 0:55. It was definitely on my list. It was the early 70s. Someone I knew in high school got a blue, fairly mint like 65 Buick Riviera for his high school used car. His dad got it for him. It had those incredible headlights, and a very fast 4 bbl V8. I got a slow 65 Pontiac station wagon with a straight 6 engine. It was better than walking. He abused the car and didn't seem to care. Life is definitely not fair.

    I owned a white w/white leather interior, '66 Buick Riviera back in 1971. It had "flip-up" headlights that, amazingly, never malfunctioned (for me). While the milage/per/gallon was nothing to write home about, it was a beautiful ride. And, definitely was a beast on the road.

    Some cars that should have been on this list... 1963-67 Chevrolet Corvette - Corvette styling, with pop up lights, has never been better. Opel GT - They flip up sideways with the pull of a lever. How cool is that? Toyota 2000GT - These pop ups are as intricate looking as a Swiss watch. Beautiful, just beautiful. Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS, 328 GTB/GTS and 288 GTO - Elegant pop ups on elegantly styled cars. Plus, Magnum PI drove one! Porsche 911 Slantnose - It's a 911 with pop ups... who could ask for more? The headlights on the Lancia Stratos are the least exciting part of the car though. Mostly because that car is a monster!

    The alfa's lights don't "pop up". In fact, they don't move at all. Why is it on this list??? Same goes for the Buick. Having headlight covers isn't the same as having pop up headlights. A more appropriate name for this video would be "Best cars with weird headlight covers and pop ups". The cars are cool though.

    Agree with the Miura and Opel GT suggestions. The Opel light lever had a really meaty feel and operated with a satisfying thump. Remember a road test of the Sonnett where they couldn't break 100 mph because air pressure would open the headlights and the additional drag would slow the car. I would add two other Gandini designs (in addition to the Miura, Montreal and Stratos), the Lamborghini Jarama and Iso Lele, both very similar. Also Ken Okayama's KO 7, very simple and clean.

    There was a reason for the extreme wing on the rear deck of the Superbird-- the car needed the down force from the wing and you had to actually be able to get into the trunk.

  • @krabysniper

    @krabysniper

    Жыл бұрын

    Getting into the trunk had NOTHING to do with the wings height. They made it tall for the sake of aerodynamics, it needed to be in "clean air" not turbulent air, in order to be effective.

I have seen the Lancia, Ferrari Daytona, Superbird, and Regal in at least 4 other videos. And apparently, you don’t have any footage of a Cord, a video about pop up headlights without a Cord is nuts.

Neat feature is when the lights are retracted, there is about 2inch clear plastic lens in the front end assembly that you can quickly flash your high beams thru, quick little pull back on the steering column light switch stalk for passing or warn oncoming drivers of a radar trap down the road they're about to head into!!!LOL 👍👍🏎🏎🏍🏍

    The Montreal doesn't have pop-up headlights and neither does the Riviera. In both cases, the headlights do not move. No motion, no pop-up. The proper term that was used in the 60s for headlights like on the Riviera, the C2 Corvette, and the Mercury Cougar was "hide-away headlights". The original Lotus Elan's pop-up headlights were cool because they were held down in the closed position by engine vacuum stored in a reservoir that was a section of the backbone frame. To pop up the headlights, the vacuum was released and the headlights were raised by springs.
