Rat 2 for me. Has been for many years. I have the rat 1 in d2 but prefer the model 2 with aus-8. So easy too resharpen and is quite durable IMO. Great review, thanks!

The Kershaw Barge I think is what it's called was it for many years then the CRKT Squid Mini. These days I've upgraded to the Para 3. I have a few. Enjoy knives in general.

Pilars rule, Voxnaes is hard to go wrong with. Pleased to have gotten a 3 in the 12c27 (and thanks for including the Higonokami heh heh). Whole buncha great cheap options, tell ya what has maniacal buck-bang ratio is the Shieldon Relicanth, superb goods

The cryo is my everyday carry I sometimes swap it out for the civivi elementum but the cryo is my go to. I lose knives too much to pay more than 100. 00 so 40 bucks at Walmart strikes a sweet spot.

I’ve got the CRK in this video, and I’m very happy with the quality, functionality and design. The only problem I had a couple times with it, was with pants pockets being so thin,it slips out very easily (lost and found at home and my car). But ok with regular jeans!

CRK is a much different brand than CRKT one is a premium grail knife and one is an affordable edc brand much more widely available.

Dude! I know most of these are simple folding knives, but you included a SAK at the end. Yes the Cadet Alox is sleek and beautiful. But in terms of functionality, the $38 Roxon KS2 Elite blows it away. Blows a Fieldmaster away. And you aren't compromising on the blade - D2. All the other tools are 4116.

This list has some traditional name brands but lacks value and performance in the modern sub $50 IMO. Here are some knives i would recommend: Civivi mini praxis (D2 steel, G10 Liner lock) or the full size praxis (9cr18mov steel) - I love mine quality is amazing! Sencut Serene (D2, Button lock with aluminum handles) CJRB Micra (AARPM9 steel, button lock with steel handles) Kershaw Iridium Tanto/or normal version (D2 steel, Crossbar lock with aluminum handles!) - goes on sale for under $50 CJRB Pyrite (Normal or Large versions) (AARPM steel, Button lock, steel handles g10 or micarta) Morakniv Companion!!!!! its a mora! new budget stuff these days are great but you could just save up for your grail knife!

Opinel No-8 is great! (but i done some tuning.. for handle and mechanism) but the blade is so great, even i fu%edup it by cheap chinese kitchen sharpener -- it is sharp enaugh because its thickness!!! it cuts soft tomato as butter (try it with yours knife)

A lot of competition in the $50 range. Sencut, Kizer, Civivi, Miguron, even Kershaw has a new banger cross bar lock for $50.

I was of course glad to see a Higonokami featured, with its numerous obvious issues/opportunities lol. I gifted one to a buddy who likes Japanese stuff in general and he was like "oh hey nice historical item" instead of "oh my HEAVENS WHY DIDNT YOU GET ME A PYRITE OR A TENACIOUS" and I'll definitely go along with a price of 20 dollars
