    Loved your video! I'm a retired teacher and creating one of a kind stuff for my classroom was my happy place. I retired early to care for my elderly parents and after their passing I didn't know what to do with all this spare time. It wasn't until this past May that I got into cardmaking. I went crazy buying stuff left and right and after these past months, I realize I have no use for some of them. From you favorite items I love my backward tweezers, the mint tape and almost gave up on my Big Shot! I've gone through 4 set of plates due to warping. Purchasing the magnetic platform, and practicing, has been a game changer. I'm missing two big ticket items, the MISTI and the glass mat. I've seen not all of them mention they're heat safe so I rather wait a bit and purchase the heat proof one. I also purchased the Sizzex Side Kick to use for those pesky, tiny dies. Also a game changer. I never thought I would enjoy cardmaking as much as I do! It's my new Happy Place!!!❤❤❤

    I use the stamp platform, a glass top work table that my husband made (we own a glass company), and a Sizzix die cutting machine. I don’t like to use tape runners or spring scissors. I only use the reverse tweezers to hold small things together, as you mentioned. I would add my bent tweezers, my heat/emboss gun, Fiskars large paper trimmer, and SugarBelle bottles that I fill with my glues. I am 56 years of with RA, OA, and FMS/CFS. Some of the things that you mentioned helping you a lot actually are harder for me to use. This was a great list video, very helpful for beginners too. Thanks!

    EVERYTHING you listed is essential in my craft room. I've battled with arthritis since my 20's too. So when I'm really struggling, I use my Sizzix Switch, but mostly use my Big Shot. Started out with the Ellison die cut machine that was heavy. I don't use the same tape runner you use, I use an ATG, but was scrapbooking when I go that, and of course my liquid glue. A lot of these items were game changers for me and just made crafting easier...like a stamp positioner. LOL

    Thanks for sharing your favorites list. I used to use the Adtech runners, now I use an ATG. I love my spring loaded scissors as well. Regular scissors cramp my hand when I'm doing a lot of cutting. My die cutting machines are a must too. I even love using low tack tape with dies as well. In other words, I use pretty much all of the items you talked about. Thanks again.

    I have the large Misti,. I would love to have tried the stampin up one but they discontinued it . The hinge could be moved to the top and bottom I believe , would love to have tried it. I too have the glass mat, love it! I have the same Sizzix big shot fold away . That lives on my desk. I have the cuttlebug among 3 other electronic machines. I hate to fussy cut. I too have arthritis besides trigger finger that act up as well as Dupuytren’s contracture so I have the brother scan n cut . You just put your stamped image on the mat or even designer paper that you would love to cut a picture out of it scan it in and cut it out with a border or without. It is a game changer . You can cut out shapes etc with it just like you can with the cricut . The difference being you can not do a print and cut. Instead of having every shape die imaginable you have this awesome machine. Like I said this machine is a game changer .

    As for tape I use both the tombow dotted and regular Tom bow runners. They are refillable and easy to use. For liquid glue I use tombow, both all purpose and clear. I like that the all purpose dries tacky so can be used for applying gilding flakes and glitter.

    I have been card making for almost 30 years and never bought a cricket. I currently own 2 Bigshots (regular and super size) 😊 In my early days I started with a spellbinder machine, which broke quickly. Then I bought a 2nd one which also broke. After that I bought a Sizzix big shot. The Sizzix has lasted me for 20 years! I only change the plates and they last a long time too! I bought a 2nd one to have an extra when crafting with a friend or family member, and also to cut bigger dies, or multiples at the same time- but they both still work fine. I am a big fan of Sizzix machines. I think I was scared of the cricut even though both my sisters owned several between them.

    Lol, I'm a craft tool hoarder. I buy almost every new tool. I have had a Big Shot since forever and it is still going strong. However I wanted an electric one so I bought a Gemini Jr. Then Sizzix came out with the Switch and I love sizzix so I bought it. Then, sizzix came out with a rose gold big shot and I had to have it! I have tons of dies and keep buying them lol. Truth is I don't need them bc I recently bought a brother scan n cut. Stamping platforms, I have the misti in both sizes, and a really weird Fiskars one. I have so many trimmers, regular, guillotine, rotary. Stamp pads, all the distress inks and the distress oxides and so many other brands. I have all the Stickles, more embossing pwders and glitters than I will ever need.

I use all of your other favourites but a couple of other things that I can’t live without are my Tim Holtz paper trimmers (I have both the regular and the mini) and my newest Sizzix scoring board and trimmer tool because I make a lot of custom cards and need envelopes for those. The Sizzix tool has been a game changer for me.

    One other new tool I just purchased is the We rMemory keepers laser square. I have severe astigmatism and lining card fronts, sentiments etc up is almost impossible. This device makes it easy for me to get things straight 😊

    I love your videos! And the comments you add in the top corner :) I have never used a stamp setting thingy.. I am old school and only have wooden block stamps. I just haven't made the switch. I also have a cricut which I love but it looks a lot simpler to have the die cutter you have. Thank you for the video and love watching you create!

    I'm a Bearly Art glue fan, too. Though for large panels, I typically use Scor-Tape. I just put it around the edges and start by only removing the tape from one of the sides. Then, I can maneuver the panel into the right place before committing. Once I have it where I want, I press down where the release paper has been removed. Then, I pull the rest of the release papers off and secure the other three sides. I'm a wee bit anal. 😂

    I have most of these types of products, some are different brands. I’m definitely going to get the spring assist scissors. I am 43 years old and have systemic Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. So I feel your pain. I had it in my 20’s but didn’t know that’s what it was. Anyways, I’m also saving up for the glass mat 😊

  • @navoff1
    @navoff18 ай бұрын

    I have all of the above (including the Waffle Flower grip mat for my MISTI). I had been using the Tim Holtz glass mat, but recently changed to the white, magnetic mat. I found with the black glass of the Tim Holtz version, I was constantly getting ink and glue where I didn't want it on my projects because I couldn't see them on the black glass. I didn’t buy the magnets that go with the white glass mat, though. I just use the ones from my MISTI. I had wrapped them with patterned duct tape to make them easier to pull off the MISTI. Now they sit at the side of my glass mat and grab onto my scissors and reverse tweezers when I set them down. 😂 My two main die cutting machines are my Spellbinders Platinum 6 and my Gemini Go. I don't have a large enough desk to put my Platinum 6 so I tend to use the Gemini for most of my small die cuts. The Platinum is on the other side of the room with my Glimmer machine and BetterPress platform. For really large die cuts I have a Big Shot Plus. It's stored off to the side because I don't use it very often.

    I agree with mostly everything but for me, it's the pointy tweezers! I have several on my desk! I don't hear anyone talking about them but they're a must try! They help place small & big objects on cards without my fingers or long nails (when i have them) getting in the way. I wish I had the Misti Platform . I have Tim Holtz and it has never worked well. I love your videos. Thank you!

    Great video!! Everyone of your must haves is on mine too!! I am one to still use a tape runner for bigger areas and my favorite is Kukoyo brand. I was a scrapbooker for a long time and fell in love with this. The one thing that didn't make your list but is on mine are stencil brushes. I have a TON of different kinds but they are must haves for me.

    Where do you buy your brand of tape runner. I was using two that I won’t name and both dryed (?) and lost adhesion before I could mail out the birthday cards I created. I was super disappointed. The thought of mailing someone cards I hand crafted that then fall apart because of inferior glue is a nightmare for me. For now I’m sticking with liquid glue and double sided tape. 😩

    Hi Ralph, all that you mentioned are essential. I have been card making for many years and sometimes I buy too much of a good thing, lol. I have 4 manual die cutting machines and 3 electric ones, a little obsessive, lol😮 The Misti I have the mini and large one. I have thought about getting the spring assist scissors, but I rarely fussy cut!! I also prefer buying stamp and die sets.

    I have it all! Funny, I never noticed that religious "verse" on my Misti pads before you mentioned it & I have all 3 sizes (two of the Original size) since they came out with them. I had to go look to see if it was on mine! It doesn't matter to me about the verse even though I'm not religious because the Misti is my #1 "must have" tool. I found I didn't care for the spring assist scissors. It felt very awkward using them and my wrist didn't like them either. I'm to the point where if I can't get a matching die, I usually don't buy the stamp. Okay, that sounds a little snobbish! LOL

    thank you SO much for mentioning the bit about the misti. i feel like everyone has one, and with the new rose quartz colorway, i was tempted and added it to my holiday wishlist. but...i'm jewish, and that tidbit makes me incredibly uncomfortable, so it's coming back off the list. would love to hear about other stamping platforms and your other recommendations :) thanks, ralph!

  • @ralphtyndall

    @ralphtyndall

    Of course! That’s exactly why I mention it. The two others platforms I showed in my video are both great options. If space is a concern I’d go with the stamp wheel. The wheel can be a little awkward at first but you get used to it. If you like the ease of a hinge (like the MISTI) and don’t mind the size then go for the Sizzix one!

    Hi Ralph, great video! I have 2 stamp positioned from Walmart I'm a senior citizen on a small fixed income. I've tried a few tape runners but the tape broke from the dispenser and they weren't refillable, so I couldn't open the case to fix it. I've looked at a lot of them that card designers seem to use, but the cost of them here in Canada is horrendous. I buy rolls of double-sided tape on Amazon. Loving your videos and cards! 😊💗🇨🇦
