I remember hearing once that Luke utilized a variant of Vapaad that used positive emotions rather than negative ones. Which I thought was very original.

That is true, however it doesn’t actually make sense if you actually think about it. Mace windy developed that technique to use the enemy’s emotions against them and to overpower them while still remaining light side. So how can you use an enemy without happiness like a sith in heated battle? It makes no sense. If he used his own emotions to power his form, I can see that however it still leaves open what if he’s up against someone who is more angry or in despair than he is happy??? It makes no sense. That’s the only complaint I’ve ever had of legends like.

All I heard is that Legends Luke's connection to the Force is so strong that when he completely opens himself up to the Force The Force made him fight like Ultra Instinct. It was described as "out of this world" and league's above the 7 Lightsaber Forms themselves

Jaden Korr was a master with the fast style. He had highly defensive and acrobatic moves. He was so good that even the Sith labeled him as “extremely dangerous”. And tried not to engage unless absolutely necessary. But it also helped that he knew and sometimes used Force Lightning. But only as a last resort.

Form 2 gave many hell in the time Count Dooku was a young to middle aged man. It seems that to be an elite Lightsaber duelist, you have to master 3 to 4 styles, and have forbidden ways in your arsenal and up your sleeve. Stupid codes or rules of engagement really hampered the Jedi in combat, and this is why they drew a really accurate comparison to the real life Samurai who themselves had stupid codes that caused the unnecessary loss of life during war. Like many others who have explained the various fighting styles, this was an excellent explanation of the ways of both the Jedi and the Sith.

I‘m sorry if I don‘t understand the sarcasm, but just in case: The lightsabers that younglings use before they become padawans are training sabers. They get to build their own, real lightsaber with a tradition called the Gathering (TCW S. 5 E. 6) Also, some lightsabers have a setting for training purposes.

I love form 4 &5 and find it one of my fave lightsaber forms. 6&7 just feel like a continuation of form 4&5. Also at the end it intrigued me about the turning the lightsaber on and off, considering it as deception. Which is funny because my oc uses that method a lot paired with her dual phasing purple lightsaber. 😂

the prequel choreography isn’t done with lightsaber forms in mind. Nick gillard hated the idea of the forms. Most real world duelist do. They break up fundamental concepts that should be part of all fencing/dueling and put them as “forms”. Real world Sword combat having different styles is because of 2 main factors…weapon and the persons size. That’s why yoda and maul are the only time we actually see different fighting styles in the prequels. Obi wan being the master of soresu is also hysterical as he’s arguably the worst at maintaining a defensive position in the films. Which honestly they all are bad at it. Dooku is another glaring example of lore not matching what we see on screen. His saber is curved to mimic real world epee fencing sabers yet he never once uses in a way that takes advantage of this despite him being a dueling master. The curve specifically helps with fencing style thrusts and lunges. Holding the hand at different points changes the angle of your thrust confusing your opponent. It’s specifically designed for tip use. Dooku should also be more one handed then we see in the films based of what form 2 is supposed to be. One handed allows for greater reach. This is important with sword to sword as you want more reach than your opponent. Dooku isn’t a heavy swinger in lore so he should be fighting like fencer, mind game with tip, reach oriented The lightsaber forms were created by David west reynolds, an archaeologist/author in 2002 with no training in sword combat. The prequel duels all habitually make fundamental grave dueling mistakes. They are about flash for entertainment. Which is fine it just means you have to separate what the lore says and what you see. In contrast the ot trilogy has more realistic dueling. It has bad technique too but it’s done purposeful to survive the story. Like Luke in esb being amateur ish. He uses bad form while Vader does not. In rotj Luke uses good form until he becomes emotional at the end. This is because the fight coordinator for the ot was a fencing/dueling master bob anderson. Nick gillard the prequel fight coordinator has some training but is more entertainment focused as his background is stuntman and circus. He however was doing the style George wanted of big over the top regardless of it not being practical. Which I think nick did good and the prequel duels are entertaining. Just pointing out the idea of the forms is fundamentally wrong but also what’s seen in screen doesn’t match lore and is actually bad technique from a real world standard/logical perspective. If you start looking for it they become glaringly obvious. Watch the prequel duels. Look how often they arent aiming for their opponent but for specific spot for their sabers to clash. What how much they preform body spins where the opponent could slightly adjust their wrist and hit their back. They constantly collapse their guard while in the clash. Meaning when they bind sabers they pull in bringing the opponent closer removing their defense. They make no attempt to maintain distance in the fight. Reach is key in all sword fights. Obi wan jumps over maul in ep 1. Maul literally just needed to slightly raise his hands. So so many glaring things.

I think ppl put wayy too much weight on lighsaber forms. Theyre a thing in the sw universe, but they wont determine who'll win or lose a fight based off which form they use
