The 6 Levels of Armwrestling
Спорт
There is a common saying in arm wrestling, "There are levels to this sh*t."
And as one gets more and more experienced in arm wrestling, you realize how true this statement is.
There are possibly an enumerable number of levels to arm wrestling, but in this video, I explain to you the 6 broad levels of arm wrestling that I view the sport in.
Where do top pullers like Levan Saginashvili, Ermes Gasparini, Devon Larratt, or Alex Kurdecha fall into this? Or what about the popular "social media" pullers like Auden Larratt, the Armwrestling Whisperer, or Schoolboy?
Watch on to find out!

@@EastsideArmWrestling I didn't know that ! It worked well for you. I plan to join the club in September, the owner is former under 80kg national champion and brother of Aymeric Pradines (the guy who destroyed Robbie Topie at EvW 12) so it will be very cool and instructive ;)
it's actually pretty crazy and mindblowing with the fact that in my high school right now (Philippines). My classmate/friend (let's call him Mark), whose only 15 years old has very strong lifts like 113 kg bench, 56 kg pronation lift, 30 kg weighted pull ups, 62 kg strict curl, 72 kg seated ez bar curl, 145+ kg deadlift, can almost do a one arm pull up and more. He has like 14 in. forearms and 15 in. biceps, his arms are actually kind of like yours but a little more detailed and just maybe a little bigger. And he's just 68 kg No one at our school can defeat this guy in arm wrestling, almost no one can make this guy struggle. The closest guy to even make him shake and show signs of struggle is a 73 kg guy that does weightlifting and have even beefier arms. But even then Mark can still easily pin him but he seems to use a lot more of his strength compared to others, his head just shakes from struggle. But even with all of this said, he's most likely just at Level 3 and a lot of people around the world would destroy Mark. Heck, I think even this giant, beefy dude at my gym could give Mark a challenge. Just goes to show that being in an environment where you're stronger than everyone else makes you seem like an elite.

@@EastsideArmWrestling I have been doing special arm wrestling exercises for over a year now and training at the table with the guys at the local gym. By Chris Drummund's armwrestling standards, I'm somewhere between an entry-level pro and a strong pro, so I consider myself as an intermediate. I haven't competed because I don't think I'm strong enough yet.
You should create a poll for this, I'm also curious about the level of your audience. But I feel like a lot of people consider themselves between two levels (like I'm between Intermediate and Advanced) so you might need 10 responses in total for this to be most accurate.

To be honest, i didn't know how standart armwrestling table looks like in real life, cuz i've never put my elbow there before. But, i'd love doing armwrestling even only with my own hands in front of mirror (idk if it's applicable to the table). Recently, i had armwrestling with one of my friend who has the same state as me, and to me it feels like walking in the park, even i manage to hold two hand of him (that was out of shape of me). I was doing Larrat pronation and riser lift before and some band exercises, not seriously training for that, but i had manage to lift 28kg for pronation and 20 kg for riser (bw 60kg). Based on that experience, i would consider myself as novice at armwrestling 🙌

Hey Greg, Can you make a video about how cupping diminishes an opponents rise and pronation? Also it's types such as Cupping using the fore & mid finger as well as through the pinky. Discuss training cupping through dynamic movements vs isometric holds. P.S- Sergey Kalinichenko trains a fair share using isometrics, & i want your opinion on it. Your recent deduction of importance of extension of the wrist as helped balance out my own hand.

Interesting topic, and I believe probably talked about it here and there in other videos as well (the importance of riser, the perfect toproll are some that come to mind). Isometrics are a great way to build strength and connective tissue. I do them too.

That could be a cool idea, I’ll try to think of how to make it something fun and enjoyable to watch
Im probably approaching advanced. I've placed 2nd once and 3rd twice out of the last 4 USA state tournaments I've attended. Im at the start of my second year of consistant training, but I've pulled casually for many years. Im in the 165 lb / 75 kg class. I'd definitely say my back pressure is my weakest link. Out of all my matches, I've only lost one recently due to losing my wrist. Not to say adding more strength to hand control is ever bad, but back pressure definitely seems to be the slowest to grow for me. The number 1 puller in my state/class seems to be around the level of the arm wrestling wisperer, so it's definently frustrating trying to climb lol. There are 3 guys local on that level, but i think one of them went up a weight class. Technique only gets you so far. I definently have my work cut out for me. Lol. I should get there in the next 6 months.

Haha, that sounds awesome!
I think I'm could potentially be in the intermediate level, but I have no where to compete, so who knows. I weigh arround 65kg and I can usually beat guys up to 85 to 90kg that are strong and go to the gym but don't do specific armwrestling training and have up to descent technic, and beat or at least be competitive (like a 50/50 scenario) against guys up to arround 75kg that go to the gym and either have a very strong hand, descent to good technic or both. Till this day couldn't find anyone under 70kg that can do anything to me on either arm, but as I said there very little competition where I live. I would love to visit the US some day and use the opportunity to try to compete there.
@EastsideArmWrestling

I'm at the intermediate level I guess. I had six months of training back in 2021 before my first tournament in January 2022 where I had a spiral fracture of my right humerus. I'm a novice because I could always win against my ex girlfriend. Seriously though, your videos are levels above that of the other armwrestling channels.

Levan is above the world champion level he is above Devon and the others you mentioned. Undefeated. Levan level is more accurate

Haha, if Levan is there, then Davit Samushia should be there as well. He's defended his title more than anybody else.

@@zero082294 It's not really helpful to talk about absolute strength, because then there would be no examples from the classes outside of superheavyweight.

This video is not about absolute strength. If it were, then Alan Zoloev wouldn’t even be in the conversation.
I feel like the jumps this list is making are far too big and there are definitely levels inbetween as well.

Yup, for sure, but for the sake of brevity I decided to keep it to just 6 levels. Even for myself I mentioned I'm probably somewhere inbetween levels. It all lies on a spectrum.
What level am I 😮

My man, if I had a "Gigachad" level, you'd be there, rockin' the runescape completionist cape ;) Jokes aside, IMO you're somewhere between Elite and World class. If we're talking about WAF standards, I'm fairly confident you're world class, but for SHW it gets a little muddier with EvW since the 115+ class is stacked with so many freaks.

I'm kind of questionable on the gym lifts, Krasimir has stated in one of your videos that he has won world championships just lifting weights. The Russian puller Zaru super heavy with the black beard has stated that where he's at in Russia he doesn't have any sparring partners, so he has to travel where Dennis cyplenkov is. Plus there are old videos of John brzenk saying things like People quite before realizing their true potential. You gave a good example puller Janis in one of your videos. Botton line is I think you have to be willing to see how far your will go with hardworking and perseverance.
