Been a Radiohead fan for half my life but it wasn't until I started singing his songs on Karaoke that I realized how great a singer he is. He's effortless.

My dad is good friends with Colin Greenwood and regularly meets Thom, I’ve only met him a few times but he is by far the most down to earth artist I’ve ever meet and stil his vocals blow me away everytime!

“Jigsaw falling into place” and Let Down. are my two favorites. Let Downs vocals are insane. Their first two albums changed my definition of “good” music.

Let Down makes me melt a little bit.
I like his voice a lot. He sings so well. So many notes, low to high. But so precise.
Climbing up the walls should have had a spot or a no honorable mention, the scream on that and how high he goes is beautiful
your voice type has nothing to do with how low/high you can go (range), but with where you're most comfortable (tessitura). Thom is 110% a tenor.
One of the greatest artists ever let alone vocalists..
“You” is Radiohead’s most underrated song, although there are tons of them.
About Creep, they didn't hate the song, that is a misconception so often repeated that people believe it. They hated performing it, but it wasn't the song itself they had an issue with but how it came to symbolize sudden unexpected success they were not prepared to deal with (which caused Thom's alcoholism). The song had become sort of traumatic for them. But they never hated the song itself.
As a musician and producer, I’ve always been mesmerized by the sounds Radiohead can create. Never realized how much of a virtuouso thom is when it comes to vocals lol I was too wrapped up in the music theory. Truly the best music of all time.
The special thing about Thom (in my opinion) is not many incredible high notes. It's his tone an that he's able to change it without taking a breath. I think a good example of this is "We suck young blood".
@TAJMofficial
2 жыл бұрын
He also does a high note in that song
I’ve always thought the vocals in You were absolutely insane. That song is super underrated.
I've always really loved Thom's voice, it's beautiful and versatile. I hope you do Prince soon, he was a great singer.
Yo, I cant believe that Thom never had any singing lessons. His voice is amazing on his whole career!!! By the way, Im glad to see that you noticed his amazing vocal lines on Pablo Honey! Most of people completely ignore the whole record just because Creep is a famous song lmao

Thom had (maybe still has) a vocal coach. I don't know where you all are getting that he's an untrained singer from. He has an idiosyncratic style and unique tone but you don't get to be the virtuoso he is and have the vocal longevity he's had without some training.
@IntangibleBeatz

Actually read he took vocal lessons even as a child
I’m surprised that not many people are mentioning his seamless falsetto on Fake Plastic Trees.
i think his vocals on Twist from his solo album are really impressive. Cause the phrasing starts on a high note and descends before ascending again ending on a high note. he also sings low on this track. if you haven't heard it i highly recommend.

The 'You' scream has shades of Layne Stayley I reckon. This video could've been 2 hours long, Thom covers so much artistic and technical ground.
I’ve always really liked his singing in Atoms for Peace
Well, there is a live performance, where he sustain the note in creep way longer
I have been obsessing over Stop Whispering for years and you just made me understand why. Thanks!
You should definitely cover Jonsí from the band Sigur Rós, his falsetto is otherworldly and his vocal lines on songs such as Festival, Ekki Mukk and Vaka are all incredible and hes even better live
These videos are really entertaining even as a guitarist who knows nothing about singing. The Tourist is one of my favourite songs from them. One part that I always thought was impossible to sing properly is the climax towards the end of Exit Music (For a Film). Can't wait to see the Alex Turner and Liam Gallagher videos in the future!

The ending of Exit Music is amazing! It’s comparable to The Tourist; they’re both F#s. Exit Music is a lot more emotional, though! I love the build up to those notes. And thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much friend!!!
My best friend has been a professional church piano/organ player for 43 years. And for the last 20 of those years, I have tried to explain to her, (in my severe ineptitude of musical skill,) that there is SOMETHING about Thom's voice that reminds me of some of the older hymns that she plays. Especially anything Yiddish... I've never been educated in music, but I can hear every single minute nuance in his voice. And now I can't wait to show my friend this video, to finally prove to her what I could never explain. Much love for this video. 🥰

I've always been a sucker for the high note in the final chorus of _Sulk,_ after the song modulates up a whole step.

@@CrazySinging Most people only really took note of Radiohead after their second record, and as a result, many people say they hate the first record, just because it doesn't sound like the rest of them. And that's a pity, because that record is a great one. I was already a die hard fan by the time the second one came out, and You was instrumental to that, as well as Blow Out (another solid vocal performance). I still listen to it. That record already sounded like Radiohead, and I see a clear connection between that sound and all that came after.
I was at Abingdon with Thom and sang beside him in the choir - he had singing lessons!
You is one of my absolute favorite Radiohead songs and one of the most underrated songs of all time. It took me many listens of Pablo Honey to realize it though.
omg thanks I was waiting for this one!!
Bro "You" is so underrated, nice video by the way. keep it up!!!!
You get a like because you picked You as #1 and it's not a well known mainstream Radiohead song, and that scream is epic. Thank you!
Even on their earlier less evolved albums Thom always had great vocals. You is a great example. The scream he sings out sounds like a mix of 80s hair metal with enough distress that it sounds punk af. I'm so glad that Radiohead always did their own thing and I'm so glad Thom never tried to lean into the Pearl Jam type vocals that were popular during the grunge and post-grunge era. Radiohead is simply the best. Edit: lol you is in the video. Hadn't made it that far. Excellent choice of vocal examples dude!
We all love Mr. Thom Yorke so much... thanks for this! Hugs from your brazilian friend.
Check out the last few minutes of 'Rabbit in Your Headlights' by UNKLE (feat. Thom Yorke). He ends the song with a 17 second sustained note. I used to sing along when I was a kid and stretch to my last drop of air to make it, super fun.
im so glad you put you near top spot its literally one of radioheads best songs
One of the greatest singer in the world, love love lovhe his Angelic voice
Thom Yorke é genial, maravilhoso, tem um timbre lindo ... perfeito
He sings like an angel because he is an angel you guys.
Great video!thom has sure a great voice, jigsaw falling into place and reckoner have some very interesting and different vocal lines from each other and they are in the same album!l also think that is worth mentioning the 1995 creep live version from creep,if l am not mistaken,he actually shouts the last note during 15 seconds
Appreciate a lot how there was some deep cuts and not just songs from traditional releases
What a voice. Thanks Thom.

Ive always struggled with the scream in you. But its so awesome
Nice video! You should do a video on Micheal Gira and Jarboe both from Swans. They've got some interesting, weird, and also beautiful vocal styles. Recommend checking out songs like She lives, The Final Sacrifice, Helpless Child, Yr Prp, To Be Kind, Failure, and Blood Promise and I crawled (from the Swans are dead live album) if you want some songs that showcase their voices
I love this man.
You is such a crazy song honestly
My favourite band to sing along to! Challenging to hit those notes, but so much fun!
Admittedly that vocal in "You" is a combination of two takes with a fairly obvious splice. Doesn't diminish him as a singer but he's still human! Probably couldn't nail it in one go.

Which is weird since his live notes are better than the recording. I surprised at how great he sounded when they played it at 2002 (the last time they played it).
This just reminded me how much I love Pablo Honey. I especially love listening to it in the summer.
Yesss I’m so glad u did thom
Nice!
Gotta love his voice man.......
You need to study Harry Nillson's amazing voice, especially on "Jump Into the Fire" and "Coconut".His voice was extraordinary. The Beatles LOVED his singing.
the embodiment of beautifully haunting
That very last clip sounds like it would be from In Rainbows era. IMO Street Spirit has his wildest vocals. 😍
I love his voice
I’d just love to hear your review if Mike Patton vocal techniques. Thom is insane!!!!
I want Thom york to never go away
Omg I didn't think I'd find India Rubber on your list. One of my faves.
He took a huge influence from Neil Young in his early years .
thom is fucking awesome he really inspires me
Surprised not to find "I Will" here.

i love you thom yorke 💕
I would recommend you having a look at guy garvey from elbow, some great vocal moments
También el aullido hermoso que hace en 'The mess we're in' con Pj Harvey !!!
Atoms for peace is amazing in vocals
Greatest musician of the last 25 years.
Thom 😍😍😍
Aw yes love me some Thom Yorke
I did a show with this music school o worked with where we did a bunch of Radiohead songs and I was put on lead vocals and rhythm guitar for "you." I myself am a baritone, generally, and I could never get my voice to belt as long as Thom on the recording but even for a split second I could until my voice started sputtering out of control but I was still proud. Good times.

I still can't properly sing Exit Music (For a Film), which by the way is my favourite pun title for a song 🤣 because of the lows and because of the wild change of tone. That one is a great example of Thom singing low.
atoms for peace from his solo album the eraser is an honorable mention imo
Please do a vocal video for Bjork! X
Thom is the best voice of alternative rock.
noticed the same with the singer of placebo. In "Julien" he sings super low, and in other songs super high ("For what its worth", last chorus background vocals)
qué hace ameoooo, me sonaba familiar esa pronunciación en ingles y vi en "about" del canal que decía Argentina jaja
He’s the best singer I’ve heard.
Still hoping for an episode on Jonsi from Sigur Rós.
I always wanted to know his voice type. He sounded different in every album.
YESSSSSSSSS
inside of my head has some great vocals too! it’s from a b-side of creep
I thought the song "Atoms for peace" would've been mentioned
I love songs of the Radiohead , I would add the song Sulk to your top... there is the transition from note A to note B
Nice
You definitely should do a video about Damon Albarn
Can you make a video with Chino Moreno ?
Spot 2 I didn't even notice he was singing
Hell yeahhh
Nude is one of his best moments imo
He took singing lessons..he said in an interview that it helped him understand the use of breath in singing.
pls do julian casablancas and lou reed
Nice, now do Greg Puciato from The Dillinger Escape Plan
Other Thom's low parts - Wolf at the Door and Jigsaw falling into place)
"Sulk" from The Bends is my favourite
