the 5th Twilight book not enough people know about (and why you should read it)

Ойын-сауық

t’s time to finally answer everyone’s question: Is Midnight Sun worth reading? The answer is...kind of? Yes, but at your own risk? If you read it and you love it, then yes I stand by my recommendation! If you read it and you hate it then uh, you didn’t hear it was a good book from me!

I fundamentally believe the best, and truly intended, way to read twilight and midnight sun is by switching between the two books one chapter at a time. It is the funniest dichotomy and really paints the series as a comedy 😂

Yes! I actually really them in parallel, not just by chapter. Line by line, chronological order, and it's the best! I desperately want New Moon from Edward. All the melodrama as he agonizes over the decision to leave Forks... failing at gunting Victoria while he's away... the whole Volturi thing!!! The biggest complaint I have about New Moon (not the only one, but the biggest) is how long and drawn out Bella's disbelief is about Edward being 'back' and thinking he's just guilty and blah blah blah... they should have figured that out in the lobby in Volterra, not the next day after the flight and overnight etc... Anyway, while Bella is absolutely convinced that Edward still doesn't love her, his internal monologue would be interesting!

That's my favourite with the twilight companion book, (the one with a picture of 2 jigsaw puzzle pieces on the cover), there is a short story of Alice where she was a victim for a murder plot and ended up on a asylum where she met her vampire-friend that turned her, to save her frome James, before her friend also was murdered and she lost her memory. And then we also learned what happened to the dead Voltory wife's.

Unfortunately by that time, my local bookstore closed down and I moved, and became a mother and had most of my stuff packed so it was not a priority to pick it up even though I wanted to. So it is still on my to-get list, because I have like, practically everything else related to Twilight.. I even won costume and trivia contests here, ok? Edward’s literally the most boring Cullen. Take all the ways they ‘died’ for example. Edward: the flu Carlisle: hunting vampires Alice: sent to an insane asylum, was hunted down by a vampire Rosalie: assaulted by her fiancé Esme: jumped off a cliff Emmet: mauled by a bear Jasper: joined to army, bitten by Maria so he could join her vampire army Everyone’s death was either ok or incredibly dramatic and complicated. Apart from Edward, he just got sick Great video btw❤ I was laughing the entire time😂

At the time that Edward was human the Flu is what plagued most people. It was an epidemic. Thats like saying someone dying from Covid was basic. It shut down the world and was an epidimic. I don't think the others had to ever deal with it.

As a twilight fan myself who read Midnight sun back in 2020 and has reread it multiple times since I sincerely agree with every single point of yours. Its definitely the best book of the series and really shows Stephanie Meyers' development as an author as well considering midnight sun is more than twice the size of twilight and the most fun part about the book I feel is that in Edward's pov we kinda get everyone else's pov as well since he reads their minds during that scene and I totally would read a whole series just about the Cullens as well. The book really made up for the lack of character development in the series and made the two leads more likeable and relatable. And yes edward certainly feels that way bc its his family ofc he is biased but he isnt about himself. It shows that they are like us more than we think. They view us like we view deer and cows. We're dumber and less powerful than they are but they make a conscious choice not to hurt people. They dont view themselves as superior or better theyre just trying their best much like we do when faced with what we arent awesome about as normal people. Smeyer uplifts them but the cullens really dont

I haven't read midnight sun and I'm not going to reread any of them but long ago I thought the short story about the one vampire was better than the rest of the series. It didn't have chapters and I think it had something else weird like no capital letters but it was the best of them all.

I love Midnight Sun because of the focus it gives the family. Plus, I feel like it’s almost a behind the scenes look at the Twilight novel, and I am super nosey that way. If they actually do this Twilight tv series they are threatening, I really hope they spend a lot of time showing each family members origin story. Like multiple episodes.

I promise I will get to it! It's just... I read them when I was 14 and I loved them so much back then (even though I recognized later all the issues they had). I have been so afraid to re-read them with adult eyes bc I don't want to ruin my nostalgic memories. I'm split between: should I re-read the books before I get to Midnight Sun? Or should I just jump in and enjoy it in itself (and not spend the whole time comparing)?

I actually LOVED it. I just finished it. With everyone crapping on it I was expecting it to hate it but it was amazing. I love that Bella had personality and interests that we got to see through Edwards eyes because Bella herself felt plain and not interesting and it comes out in her monologue. I seriously hate how many times stephanie Meyer uses “he mumbled” and “I muttered” and hoped we could have ditched those words but nope lol But otherwise I loved it!

Actually I think Stephanie Meyer honed her skills as a writer by the time she go to her fifth book. Her other two books--The Host and The Chemist--are incredible. Midnight Sun is more like them than the rest of the Twilight series

This makes me realize Twilight should’ve been narrated from Ed’s point of view instead of Bella’s all along. 😂😂😂 it would’ve made more sense to have a vampire narrate a story about vampires, plus it makes it more interesting especially with the Cullens interacting with each other which we REALLY don’t see enough of in the franchise.

I really liked Midnight Sun we needed more moments with the Cullens, I am holding out hope that Stefanie Meyer will hopefully in the future write the rest of the series from Edwards POV. Side note have you read Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined. Basically everyone except Charlie and Renee are the opposite gender, it is interesting.

I absolutely agree with everything. Midnight Sun, in one word, is DRONING. LIKE OH MY GOD HE DRONES. But you know, it's the head of a vampire. Apparently their time goes way slower than ours and that's why they can think of waaay too many things in the span on a second. It's PROPERLY droning. And omg the way they made Bella interesting! It compeled me to reopening Twilight to see wtf SHE was thinking! And she was thinking so much less than he was XD I loved the side by side reading. But Midnight Sun still is the best book yes. Even though it's unbelievably long and droning.

You had me interested from your snippets, thinking about it with chaotic Cullen shenanigans, and I was sold when you said it is to Twilight as the Clone Wars tv show is to the Prequels. Right. Where’s the nearest book store?

I love your analysis! You’ve put into words several things I could not. I did love this book despite Edward’s many excessively emo tangents. There were two scenes that made it all worthwhile - the baseball scene and the car chase scene. The backstory in those made the Cullens so much more interesting, and they made Jasper even sexier. Team Jasper hundo P.

not liking Edward is still so crazy to me as well as not liking Bella. I did get midnight sun and the leaked version that Stephanie made was better. It had about 9 or 10 chapters maybe? Up until then it was great. but it kind of dipped at the ending. didn't keep me as engaged and I ended up returning it. I'll re-read again. Those first 10-11 chapters were VERY enjoyable and I absolutely loved them. I had decided to hate stephanie forever for not finishing midnight sun because i loved it so much and was so happy she did it despite that plagariser of the Grey books.

I read Midnight Sun when it was a PDF file on SM website for the entirety of my High School career. When she removed the file off her website and an “announcement” was coming out, I was ecstatic. I now will read Midnight Sun for fun, then have to read the Twilight Saga, then have to read Midnight Sun again. By then I usually have my fix for 8ish months.
