The 50,000 volt Subaru Outback Powersource!

Ғылым және технология

Sure, Subarus are all about love and family. But little do people know, they make one heck of a high voltage powersource as well. This ignition coil can even be powered with the famous ZVS driver. You may just look at car ignition systems a bit differently after this!

Good guess, RF interference is strong around such devices. I have blanked out my LCD monitors when experimenting with ignition coils and drawing arcs as long as possible. It was basically an EMP device. I wasnt even using something as large as Subary coil. My experiment had 150ccm single cylinder engine ignition system (12V DC system), coupled with small stepper motor as ignition signal sensor (generator). Just to test out if the ignition works but that wouldnt be fun if not done "properly".

Jacobs ladders do that. You could make one. Most jacobs ladders use high current, rather than voltage. So you could use high voltage to get the same effect.

Great question. I have a video planned to make the plasma sword from Pacific Rim. Except, it would be real. It's entirely possible. Just requires very high power levels...levels high enough that scare even me. Trying to figure out how to create it safely. One mess up, just one, and i'll kill myself.

It has been years in the planning. It should be a fairly standard voltage multiplier, just blown up to insane proportions. I want to own the largest voltage multiplier in civilian hands, and make DC arcs that resemble lightning in their structure, intensity, and unpredictability.

Yeah I just started putting together some equipment for small lab. I was thinking about building a similar voltage multiplayer. We also used our 3D printer to make some parts for a rotary spark gap. For some high voltage, high frequency experiments

great vid, It's known as a "wasted spark setup" here in New Zealand where most of our cars on the road are JDM imports with the odd NZ new among them. I have and still do own several JDM subarus up to a '07 STI hatch and the wasted spark is not a common thing, usually one coil per cylinder mounted on each plug. anyway love the work you have put in and keep it up just don't fry yourself!
