Could you please explain the difference between a CV and a resume? I thought a CV was a letter specifically to a company explaining why one would be a great candidate for a position/job. On the other hand, the resume was an actual paper with a persons education and achievements/jobs (related to their career) summarized

To my knowledge, they’re mostly interchangeable, but a CV is the full resume with a cover letter.

In Europe, we basically only use the term "CV" and it's a full history of your credentials. I think the term "resume" is mostly used in the US and meant to present your skills to a specific position, so it tends to be shorter. In either way, I would also always adapt a CV to the position you're applying to, not just a resume.
